HP Pavilion DV7 :: Devices Not Recognized On All USB Ports On Laptop
Feb 11, 2011
I keep getting USB Device not recognized on all USB ports on my laptop.
I am running Windows 7 (recently did a restore to clean up computer) service pack 1.
I refreshed the BIOS
I tried deleting all drivers, shutting down, taking out the battery and restarting
I tried refreshing all USB drivers
I tried adjusting the power settings to ensure that all power save mode on USB devices was disabled
Still no luck. Once in a while I can plug something in and it will work for a bit then it becomes disconnected. I think this might be a hardward problem as no software intervention has worked.

LAPTOP MODEL: HP Pavilion DV6
OS: Windows 8 (although default OS is Windows 7)
WiFi Adapter: Ralink RT5390 b/g/n WiFi adapter
I have been using softwares like Connectify and MyPublicWifi for quite some time now for hotspots, but all of a sudden since yesterday I'm not able to connect to the hotspot from my Windows Phone 8.1 device. I tried connect an Android Phone that didn't work either. I kept recieving a notification saying "Wifi network did not respond. Try again later". It seems like its some problem from the laptop and not the devices trying to connect to it.I tried rebooting the laptop multiple times, uninstalling and reinstalling the hotspot softwares and even created a hotspot using CMD. Even after all this I keep recieving the same message of network not responding. I checked the network adapters for any hardware changes, the drivers showed that they were functioning properly. I'm trying to share the internet from Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.

I have three usb ports, and none of them seem to be working. Although the devices work on my roommate's laptop, they are not recognized on mine. When I plug my flashdrive into hers, it lights up, but that doesn't happen on mine. I recently reset my computer to factory settings to try and fix other issues including the problem with the usb ports, but the usb devices are still not recognized.
I recently sent in my laptop due to problems of it not being able to turn on, and my battery and a/c adapter were replaced. I was quite happy. However, I do not want to send it back in even though it is under warranty. Since I am a college student, I really need my laptop. If nothing works, I'll send it back in over winter break so I'm not without a laptop during my studies.
My touchscreen is also not working, so how to fix that, here is my other post: [URL] ...

As far as I can see the HP 15-r101na and 15-r125na laptops are exactly the same apart from the colour. Are they the same or have I missed something?
Also is it possible to plug USB 2.0 peripheral devices into USB 3.0 ports? Stupid question maybe but I've never owned a computer with a USB 3.0 port.
Finally, will the following HP printers work on Windows 8.1: Deskjet D1460, Deskjet D1660, Photosmart Plus B209a.

I am in the process of downgrading an HP 15-g013dx (J5T33UA) laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7. This is a quad-core AMD A8 APU system.
I am having trouble with USB 2.0 devices not being recognized by the hardware. I have all the devices installed in device manager, but the computer will not detect USB 2.0 devices.
It will recognize USB 3.0 devices just fine when they are plugged into the USB 3.0 port, but neither of the USB 2.0 ports. USB 2.0 devices won't work in any port. I can't confirm USB 1.1 devices at this time.
CMOS setup is set to Legacy mode: Disable.
Is there an additional driver or configuration that I am missing, or is there another issue going on?

My laptop's USB ports are no longer working. I believe that some internal circuitry got fried after I plugged in a USB powered device that had its own power supply. I don't remember exactly what I did because it was while ago. I still like to use the laptop, but without USB its uses are quite limited.
When I plug in a device, nothing happens. It is neither powered nor recognized. All USB ports are affected.

I was connected to the internet through my WiFi connection but suddenly the PC restarted after which Windows wasn't showing any wireless networks (see image 3). When I went inside PC settings, it displayed a message (see image 1) that there no wireless devices on this PC. Even in the taskbar instead of the WiFi icon, the LAN icon is displayed. And under PC Settings/Connection, only Ethernet and VPN options are displayed (no wireless connections).I do not know what went wrong. Is there some external switch to turn on the network adapter?
OS: Win 8.1PC: HP Pavilion 15
In image 1, now Bluetooth device is shown after auto install of an HP update, but no WiFi networks.

My usb ports on my HP Pavilion dv7-6b56nr Entertainment Notebook PC are not working. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Product # A1T84UA. No matter what I do I can't get them to work. When I go into device manager it is showing a conflict. When I try to update the drivers it says they are up to date. I even tried to do a full system recovery and if it wasn't for an image I saved my computer would have become a paper weight.

It was placed vertically in a bag and my grandma spilled water from a flower vase on my laptop. Good thing it wasn't turned on but The ports were wet and I wiped them with tissue.
I placed the laptop upside down in front of a fan to hopefully let all the water inside evaporate. I also dismantled the battery.

Since a few days now I get the message'The USB-device was not recognized: One of the USB-devices connected to this computer does not work correclty. The device has not been recognized'. It keeps popping up from my right corner below, every 5 seconds if I don't click it. When I click the message, I get a list of USB devices (ports) there are available. There's one 'Unknown device'. Maybe it has something to do with the finger scan (biometric)? This hasn't been working very good lately..Even when there's no single USB device installed (normally I have a mouse and a Targus laptop chill mat installed as USB devices), it keeps popping up. I tried deleting the USB port from the list (or uninstall it) in Device control, but it seems it keeps happening.
I suddenly got it, I did nothing specific of did not connect any strange devices (except for a projector on the external monitor exit, but that has nothing to do with USB). I also hear the sound for connecting and disconnecting USB devics randomly when I'm on my laptop.

I bought a an HP Pavilion g6-2288ca. Uninstalled Windows 8 and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.My left USB ports are not working. I'm assuming USB3. They have an exclamation mark beside them under device manager. USB Host controller .I've read many solutions, none worked.
#1 Checked the HP drivers page. They don't have ANYTHING listed for USB for the g6-2288ca nor for Windows 7 .
#2 I called HP, with no support. They said to check with Microsoft (????)
#3 I did all the Windows updates.
#4 I installed the full AMD Catalyst driver and software.
#5 Updated Bios. (tried to see if I can disable USB3 in the BIOS).. But it wasn't there.
My USB ports are still not working.
