HP Pavilion Dvt7 Display :: How To Get 2560x1600 Resolution
Mar 24, 2014
I have an HP Pavilion dvt7 laptop. I'd like to connect this to a 30" HQHD Display Port, HDMI, DVI-D, PC Monitor with a maximum resolution of 2560x1600 (via Display Port or DVI-D). Is this possible and if so, through what ports and/or adapters to get the 2560x1600 resolution? The machine does have an express card slot. Can I use an expresscard to USB 3.0 adpater, then use a usb 3.0 to displayport adapter and connect to the monitor's displayport?

I have a HP HDX18t w/ Windows 7 Home Premium and the Nvidia GeForce GT 130M video card. I'm trying to hook up a Dell 30" LCD monitor with a native resolution of 2560x1600 via the HDMI output using a HDMI to DVI cable. Doing so, the system will only allow the external Dell a max resolution of 1280x800 while the HDX screen stays at 1920x1080. The 1280x800 look really bad. I want to use its native resolution of 2560x1600 or atleast the 1920x1080. When I use VGA output, nothing shows up on 30" (blank black screen).
Using my 24" Dell, I can get 1920x1080 either via the VGA or HDMI (to DVI) fine. Based on my research it seems to be a limitation of the Nvidia GeForce GT 130M because it just doesn't allow that high a resolution (i.e. no dual-link DVI capabilitiy). Is this true? Or am doing something wrong?
Is there any solution in using a 30" monitor with the HP HDX18t? Will one of those Matrox DualHead2Go devices work to run the 30" and 24 inch monitor simultaneous at 1920x1200. I'll be fine with that. My wife is firm in using the 30" monitor we have. Is this a loss cause and I have to get another laptop that will support a 30" external monitor? If so, any advice on which one.

I've recently bought a Asus 27" monitor capable of 2560x1440 resolution. My laptop couldn't go higher than 1920x1200 so i'm now looking for a laptop replacement. Will 8560w or other elitebooks with display port connectors do the job?

my resolution on my external monitor wont display correction when hook up with the XPS 1647.
The connection is HDMI. Resolution has been set to the highest recommend 1920x1080.
If you look at the picture below, the edges of the screen won't fill up the whole screen, making everything so small and hard to read. I already turn off the display on the laptop, making the monitor as my default screen.
On my previous XPS M1530, the Nvidia 8600GT can display the resolution correction.. I find it hard to believe that ATI card are not capable of doing that or there might be something wrong with my setting

When I connect second display via regular VGA cable I can set the maximum resolution to 1920x1080, although native resolution for my external screen is 1920x1200.
I could just find posts related to similar problems when using docking station - tried some of the solutions, but none seemed to work.
Found this [URL] ... on dpreview - suggests using miniDP to DP 2-link converter (screen has just VGA/DP ports).

I have a Lenovo SL410, model 2842. The video card in my machine is Mobile Intel R 4 Series Chipset Family.
Just got a new 23" monitor which recommends resolution setting 1920x1080. I quickly learned that this resolution cannot be achieved with the VGA cable (highest was 1366x768), so I switched to an HDMI cable. When I first booted up the computer after connecting them, it was perfect. Icons were rearranged, but that's no big deal. About an hour later, I had to reboot for another reason, now it's behaving just like it did with the VGA cable. Samsung support says I need to update video card drivers, but I checked that (via the windows interface), and it says I am current. Now I can't get to display with 1920x1080 resolution again.
Since it displayed the higher resolution briefly, I imagine it must be possible to configure the settings so it will stay that way.

What are the 5 screen resolution options for the Dell Studio 1555 display with a 1900 x 1080 display?
"15.6 Inch Full High Definition(1080p) High Brightness LED Display with TrueLife and Camera/Facial Recognition"
Is 1280 x 800 one of the 5 resolution settings available under the Display Settings? I believe this is the lowest resolution setting where pictures are not distorted and out of proportion. Anything lower, like 1280 x 720, pictures become distorted....

I have an HP ENVY dv6t-7300 laptop. I'd like to connect it to a 1920x2000 24" monitor. My laptop has a max screen resolution of 1366x768. A couple of questions...
1). Is an HDMI cord the best way to to connect to the monitor?
2). Will the monitor stretch the 1366 pixels to fit the 1920 pixels or will the image not fill the monitor?

I have a Thinkpad E530 which has a 1366x768 display panel. Unfortunately, This resolution began to be low for my usage (some applications don't even enter the screen entirely!), so I'm searching for a higher resolution panel (like 1600x900 or 1920x1080). Could this be made or the new screen wouldn't work?

Purchased Probook 4530S. Win 7. I keep having teh screen print/size resolutiom change when using the touchpad. The pointer seems to "stick" and then when I move it, the screen will either get very smaller or larger. I continually have to hit ctrl + or - to get the screen size back to "normal". Is this something to do with the touchpad settings or pointer?

I just received a refurbished HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k125dx Sleekbook. I can't set a resolution higher than 1366 x 768 though according to specs the native resolution is 1920 x 1080. I updated the Intel HD graphic driver and the BIOS but that did not work. Did HP possibly reinstall a wrong display as part of the refurbish?

But I'm encountering a big problem, my display is weird (there is some green filter added) in addition Windows 8 does not completely (it stop after the blue logo).
I can see something if I boot on my Ubuntu USB. Even the boot logo have the green filter.
On the others side if I come back to the original disciple screen, all is well. So, at a first sight I think it is not a connector problem or a graphics card problem.
It's a Dell Studio 1555 with a ATI Mobility Radeon 4500....

Just upgraded from Windows 8.1 preview to Windows 8.1... since then my display doesn't look right at all. Resolution seems to be set to 1920x1080... which I belive is correct.
But text, icons and windows seem bigger than they were before.
Also the display is lacking sharpness around text. Do I need to upgrade some drivers or something?

I am to be the lucky owner of an X1 Carbon soon. There is one thing that I can't find the answer for in the documentation and spec sheets:
- what is the maximum resolution that the mini displayport can handle?
The display that I'm looking to buy is running 2560 x 1080.

I have an HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook with NVIDIA GT 740M and Intel 4600HD Graphics Drivers, and running Windows 7. Whenever I want to change the resolution in games to a lower resolution than the desktop resolution, the game shrinks its view leaving couple of inches black bars on the edges. For example if my desktop resolution is 1920x1080, and I want to run a game in 1600x900, the game doesn't fill the screen, instead, it leaves some amount of blank space on the edges of the screen.
In order to solve this problem, I tried the following steps:First I tried to locate the Display tab in NVIDIA Control panel in order to set scaling/stretching to 'Full Screen', but my version of NVIDIA CP doesn't have the Display Tab (My NVIDIA drivers are the latest version). Then I found out that I should do this from the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel. My Intel HD Graphics CP has an option named "Scaling" under Display > Display Settings, and it only shows the option Maintain Display Scaling which is checked by default and doesn't allow changing it. Also, after searching through internet I saw that some people suggested entering the 'Advanced Settings' and trying to make changes there. When I try to enter Advanced Settings under Display, it says "This display does not support any of the advanced settings".
After trying these without success, I tried updating the Intel's driver through their website hoping this can fix the problem. I ran Intel's small application on their website which identifies my chipset and suggests me the latest driver for that chipset. The website told me that the driver that is installed on my computer is 10.18.10.3304, and there is an update for this which is 15.33.18.64.3496 (or 10.18.10.3496). So I downloaded the file, but when I tried running it, it gave me this error message: "The drivre being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. Setup will now exit." which doesn't make any sense.

I have recently bought ThinkPad E540 with OneLink Pro Dock, in which I have connected my LG Flatron IPS236 external display. LG's max resolution is Full HD 1920x1080, but for some reason my external display's max resolution is only 1280x1024. The display is attached to the OneLink Pro Dock's DVI port. I have both updated the graphic card's drivers and LG monitor's drivers and booted the system. I have also tried using both 75 hertz and 60 hertz refresh rates.

I have a problem with hdmi output to my TV screen.
I have Y510P (i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
& NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M, Win 8.1 64-bit(6.3 build 9600), all with latest drivers )
My TV is Panasonic TH-L32B6. When I connect my laptop to TV it shows me awful picture quality and notification that “this is not optimal screen resolution for the primary display. The optimal res. Is 1280x720”. But with 1280x720 it’s still awful. It works fine just with 1024x768 res. I have no such a problem with my other TV LG 47LS570Y. How can i fix picture quality with higher resolution? I tried another OS like Ubuntu and a couple of hdmi cables…(see attachment)

A friend of mine has an HP Pavilion ze4420us laptop and seems to have a problem. When his computer starts up the screen is reduced in size so that all you can see is a 6"x6" area that's using the screen. Everything is displayed normally inside this "box". Once windows loads it's fine though.
some manufactures have a "Fn+key" or "shift+key" type of shortcut that will change an internal setting and enlarge or reduce the picture being displayed.
