Nov 23, 2012I've got a new Dell XPS 15 four days ago. I've been having a lot of issues with its internal mSSD drive. The model I ordered has a regular 1TB hard disk and a 128 SSD. I was quite surprised to discover that the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (that allow faster data access by using the SSD as cache) is not enabled by default. I tried to enable it but no success. An "unknown error" message box showed up when I attempted to do so. That was really strange, considering that the only thing that I've done so far in my computer was installing MS Office and Google Chrome.I contacted the tech support three days ago and I was told to reset my computer to factory default and try again. After a long wait for system restoration I enabled the acceleration mode in the Intel Rapid Storage software.
Everything proceeded according to expected, but when I rebooted my computer it failed to detect any bootable device. I can't even access the system restoration by pressing F8 during initialization now. especially when we consider that this shouldn't be happening in a premium $1,999 model. Also, shouldn't this KEY feature (caching with SSD) be enabled out of the box?
HP Probook 4530s Audio :: Sound Sometimes Won't Play - Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
Dec 5, 2013I'm having an issue with my HP Probook 4530s where sound sometimes won't play. I downloaded the approriate audio driver for my computer. If I click on an application that needs administrator permissions and the User Account Control pops up, it won't play the system sound like it normally does. If I click on the speaker icon on the bottom right and adjust the volume slider it doesn't make a sound. I've also noticed that when I stream any type of video on the internet, the video won't play until the sound works again. Sometimes the video plays with no sound, then the sound catches up. I've tried many different browsers but the issue keeps happeneing regarless.
When my computer ran Windows 7, the audio worked fine. Videos always played, and system sounds always executed on cue. My motherboard got replaced at the end of last year due to overheating so I don't think it's a hardware issue. The weird thing is that this issue isn't consistent. One minute the sound could be working flawlessly, but two minutes later the sound just stops working.
I could try and capture a video of the issue I'm having and post it on Youtube, but it's difficult since the issue is sporadic. If I do get a video of it, I'll be sure to post the link.
HP Pavilion Dv6-7138us Audio :: Tone Controls Apply Button Grayed Out
Jan 18, 2015Under Control Panel, Sound, Speakers and Headphones Properties, Tone Controls Tab, the Apply Button is grayed out for my Bass/Treble settings which reset to 4 every time my PC restarts if I change them. I cannot set the Bass/Treble levels permanently where I want them (Bass - 4 and Treble - 0) because the Apply Button does not work. I have two identical models of this PC with the same problem - both HP Pavilion dv6-7138us with Beats Audio and AMD cpu. Can the Apply Button be fixed? The Beats Audio Control GUI (also in Control Panel) has Bass and Treble settings that remain where set.Perhaps Beats is overriding Sound in Control Panel? I have a boxed Windows 7 32-bit installed on another PC and Sound has different control options - no Beats Audio. I would think if Beats modifies Sound controls in Control Panel, those controls should work. Otherwise, the modified Sound controls would not be there unless they are there in case Beats Audio is uninstalled or disabled? I see no way to uninstall or disable and have no desire to uninstall. IDT Audio is listed in Programs and Features.

I have no audio. It has been previously working, but suddenly stopped. On the small speaker icon there is a red cross indicating "No Audio Output Device is enabled" When I log on to the computer i get a window that says "CWindowsSystem32AUDIOSES.DLL is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."
I have attempted to Troubleshoot but unable to get any sound. I have updated the Audio driver, but it is the up to date driver.

Aug 26, 2014My computer is HP Compaq 7900p small. I bought new graphics card which is Asus AMD HD6450. When I test it I saw problem - no sound.
When I click on Sounds tab, I see that AMD HDMI Output-AMD High Definition Audio Device - not plugged in and I couldn't change it to default device. When I troubleshooted it, problem was that one or more audio devices isn't running.
I was searched in google for solution, and found it that I need to change in BIOS from DVI port to HDMI port, but in my comp BIOS version is 7.11 and I don't see where it would be changed.
Only what I did was that I swapped integrated audio to enabled then I get sound from my speakers, but AMD High Definition Audio Device still isn't plugged in. How to change it to default!

Mar 14, 2014My computer (the Lenovo Y510P) started acting up the first day I bought it. It runs smoothly and everything, but the speakers seem to crackle and pop whenever I play music or games (even at a low volume). I've been seeing that many Lenovo Y510P users have been having this same issue and can assume that the problem is a hardware issue because:
1) Installing different versions of sound drivers AND even downloading the recommended sound drivers from Lenovo DOES NOT WORK.
2) Changing the power options DOES NOT WORK.
3) Plugged in headphones and even bluetooth can hear the static.
I'm thinking about returning this laptop since this is the 3rd day of having it. If there's no fix for this defect, I'm returning it before the 7th day.

Jul 11, 2014I can't set my sound default. I recently got my computer updated and a few hours later, my sound stopped working, then my videos, too. I reinstalled my computer, but when it got to the point where you set sound defult, it wouldn't work. The sections "Configure" and "Properties" worked, but "Set Default" wouldn't. I am so frustrated because I need sound and video to do a lot of things on my computer.

Jul 19, 2014I own the Pavilion g6 and ever since I've gotten it, I've had audio driver problems. This is a recent one. I'm not able to set my Communication Headphones as the default device.The reason I want to is because I want audio to go through my headphones only, but if I disable speakers and headphones, volume mixer glitches out and says "No audio device is installed" I've also had other problem too, my microphone does not work correctly but the headphones do. I've already tried uninstalling / reinstalling by the way.

Nov 26, 2014I use my laptop almost everyday, and it has been fine up until today. I have an HP Envy dv4. I rarely shut it down--I usually just close the lid and leave it like that until I'm ready to use it again. Today, when I opened it and logged in, I went to Youtube. However, no sound will play. I didn't have this problem the last time I used the PC, and can't figure out what's wrong. I don't have any sound with headphones plugged in, and I don't have any sound when I try to use just the PC speakers.
I've already made sure the sound is definitely on--I have muted it and unmuted it several times, raised and lowered the volume by using the f9 and f10 keys, and nothing happens. I've tried playing media that is stored on my PC, and no sound there either. I've also tried using Rosetta Stone, and it won't open because it says it can't find any sound output.
I have restarted the computer several times, scanned for viruses, and scanned for updates. Nothing has worked.

HP DV6-265us Audio :: No Sound On Internal Speakers
Aug 3, 2010I have a DV6-265us laptop running MS Vista SP2. Recently, my internal Altec Lansing speakers stopped working. First it was the left speaker, then both. I thought for sure the speakers just died, so I ordered a replacement on EBay and just got and replaced it yesterday. BUT, I still don't have any sound. I can plug in external speakers into the speaker port and they work fine.
Now here is the strange thing. The speaker icon on the status bar is working exactly like it did before. Its not showing any red X or error at all. I can test the sound and the visual looks like its working, but there's nothing coming out of the internal speakers. I've gone to Control Panel, Device Manager and there's not red Xs anywhere. The device driver says its working fine, but I didn't trust it, so I did a HP driver restore and put back the original one that came with the laptop .. .Still nothing.
I've read the troubleshooting articles on the HP Support pages, but nothing has worked so far. My next step is either to replace the audio board or the power button board. I'm not sure about the audio board because I don't know how its tied into the speakers AND plugging in external speakers IS working. It's really a sub board and seems to only have the external ports for the microphone and speakers as well as the infra-red port. The internal speakers are plugged into the power button board and I thought that is where the problem might be since putting in a new internal speaker didn't seem to work. The microphone is also plugged into the power button board, but that seems to be working though.

Dec 12, 2009I purchased a 13" HP Dv3t-2000 Moonlight White laptop back in May 2009. I got this particular model before HP released the backlit keyboard option in their slightly newer DV3t's. I also upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit in October 2009.
Anyways, ever since I got my laptop I've had an audio issue. Whenever I turn my volume up to 100%, and I play music or a youtube video through my built in speakers, the audio output gets crackly. I can feel the audio vibrating through my laptop. I have to turn my volume down to around 64% to eliminate only a part of the crackling.
This crackling issue doesn't happen when I listen to audio through headphones or earbuds. But I would like to have clear audio output through my built in speakers.
ON A SIDE NOTE: My brother got a 13" HP Dv3t Espresso Black about a month after mine, and his has a backlit keyboard. When he turns his volume to the max, and plays something through his built in speakers, there is NO CRACKLING whatsoever!
I went to his Speaker settings and found that he has the IDT High Definition Audio Codec installed. I checked mine and it just says Default speakers. That raised a red flag - the fact that I didn't have this IDT codec could be my problem..........
