Feb 19, 2013I have a ThinkPad X240 laptop with Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 installed. Sound plays just fine from the laptop's speakers, and when I plug external speakers into the laptop's 3.5mm audio port they work just fine too. when the laptop is docked in my Ultra Dock 90W docking station and the external speakers cable is plugged into the dock's audio port, no sound is heard. If I'm playing music through the laptop's speakers, as soon as I plug a cable into the dock's audio port no sound is heard. I can still use the laptop's audio port to connect external speakers, but that defeats the object of having an audio port on the Ultra Dock.
The Ultra Dock has (I believe) the latest firmware installed (version 2.22.000) and I have the latest audio drivers installed: in Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Realtek High Definition Audio > Driver version is 6.0.1.7188 which is the latest available from Lenovo Support downloads. What do I need to do to get the Ultra Dock's audio port working? I mistakenly posted this message on the "X Series tablet ThinkPad Laptops" board.
Dell Latitude E7240 :: Connected To E-port Docking Station
Jan 21, 2015Just started using brand new Latitude E7240 and connected to E-port docking station. When booting an error pops up as below: The battery currently attached to the system will not supply enough power to dock for it to function. Please attach AC power to the dock for it to function normally

Dell Latitude E7240 :: E Port II Docking Station USB Ports Not Working
Dec 25, 2013The USB ports on my new E Port II docking are not working with my new Latitude E7240 Laptop. Full configuration of the laptop is below. Talked with Dell and they sent me a replacement docking station but the same issue surfaced. Looked at the Device Manager and no extra USB ports show up when connected to the docking station. The side laptop USB works fine when the docking station is connected.

Dell Latitude E6420 :: E-port Docking Station / CPU Usage Will Shoot Up To 100%
Dec 16, 2014when I dock my in my E-port docking station, my CPU usage will shoot up to 100%, and it may come down periodically to the 80s or 90s, which makes my laptop virtually unusable for anything. I tried a different power cord but it made no difference. Undocked, it works just fine, so it's obvious it's something wrong with the docking station.

May 25, 2014We are running more than200 dell computers in our company. lately we purchased E7240 for some users but it looks like the AC adapter does not work with the Dell E-Port docking station we have and that cause the USB hubs not to function at all.
Currently the workaround is to plug the AC adapter to the laptop instead of the docking station.
Our BIOS is updated to the latest version. also a message comes up when the ac adapter connected to the docking station before the windows boot up saying the ac adapter won't charge.....

Dec 30, 2013I recently picked up a T431s from the outlet. Nice ultrabook. Lighter than my T520 and T410. I have been using the 4337 and 4338 dock solutions for both of those units. I had done research before purchasing the T431s and was assured by Lenovo that the unit would work in both a 4337 and 4338 with an adapter (part number 04x0856 - Lenovo CS09 Dock Adapter). The part is shown here: CS09 Part. The T431s did not ship with the Lenovo CS09 Dock Adapter and I have been looking everywhere to locate one so that I can use it in either the 4337 or 4338 dock. Is there another part number that I am missing?

May 4, 2009I have an XPS M1530 running Vista Home Premium 64-bit, T-9300 Processor, 6 gig RAM, 320 gig 7200-rpm harddrive. I am using it with the Kensington SD100S Laptop Docking Station (with stand) and a 22" Samsung monitor (monitor as primary display and laptop display as secondary display) and the Dell Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The Kensignton docking station attaches to the M1530 via USB.
My question is, is it safe for me to detach the docking station when the M1530 is booted up and running? What about detaching the monitor? Except when I have an external USB harddrive turned on, there is not anything in my tray icons to indicate (as far as I can tell) that any hardware needs to be safely removed.
I have a 2nd AC adapter in my den separate from my home office, but I so rarely take the laptop mobile in the house since I power down first. Please let me know whether I am being too cautious, and if it is safe to detach the docking station and monitor while running any precautions that I should take. I do have my XPS backed up via Ghost if a problem should happen.

Sep 1, 2014I have a T540p laptop with Windows 7 installed on it, and when I insert it in the docking Station (Ultra Dock 90w) the USB ports don't work.
I tried with another laptop setup with Windows 8.1 and everything works fine. I also tried with another docking stsation, I have the same issue. I suspect something wrong with Windows 7.
All drivers are properly installed as the computer is new. I also performed the docking Firmware update from this page [URL] ... but this didn't work.
Lenovo ThinkPad L R/SL :: L440 - Not Display Docking Station Of Monitor During Bios
Apr 7, 2014I have a Lenovo L440 laptop with a think pad pro dock. The HDD is encrypted with TrueCrypt and needs a password before windows will boot. The laptop will not display out to the monitor attached to the dock before windows loads. I have changed the bios setting Config > Display > Boot Display Device, as well as all the other display options, but it does not make a difference. I have tried with a VGA cable and a DVI cable and neither works. I have tried with 2 different L440s and 2 docking stations with the same problem occuring on both. I have successfully used a Lenovo L540 laptop with the same model of docking station. I have also updated to the most current bios version.
I'm wondering if I'm missing something or if the L440 model simply does not support this function?
Lenovo ThinkPad W Series :: Very Loud Sound Cracks Using W530 In Docking Station
Jun 19, 2012I have a very annoying problem with my W530. When i'm using it in the docking station (last years version without usb 3.0) erverything works fine, but there are a few very loud sound cracks playing through my external speaker system. Without the dock with the buildin speakers no problem. My external speaker plugged in the headphone jack no prob either.
These loud sound cracks appear when a few seconds no sound is played and then when a new sound starts to play. So i guess it has something to do with some power saving mechanism in the realtek sound chipset. When a continues sound is played like a song no sound cracks are happening.

Aug 7, 2012I have a T520 thinkpad with a docking station. I can get my headphones to work fine out of the laptop, but I would like to leave my headphones plugged into the headphone jack on the dock itself. The computer doesn't seem to recognize this jack is even there. My only sound options are the laptop speakers and the audio jack on the right side of the laptop.
How to enable the audio jack on the back of the dock?
Lenovo T400 / T500 :: Dual Monitors On T430 - Docking Station Only Support VGA Connection
Dec 18, 2013I just received my new t430 and having issue with dual monitors. I am using the Intel HD 4000. I have it connected to a ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3 (Type 4336). The docking station only support VGA connection. My new t430 only has a VGA connection on the side.
I have 2 monitors. One is connected to the VGA on the docking station. The other is connected to the VGA on the t430 itself.
While the machine is docked, Monitor #1 that is plugged into the docking station works, while Monitor #2 that is plugged into the t430 does not.
While undocked. Monitor #1 does work (obviously because undocked), but then Monitor #2 does work.
So I know both monitors are working and configured for VGA input. My questions is, why can't both work at the same time? While undocked, I can use laptop screen and Monitor #2 as a dual monitor. So I don't believe there is something wrong with the Operating System (Windows 7).
I used to be able to do this on my t420. With one monitor using VGA, and my other monitor using a DisplayPort. But looks like this model my company purchased doesn't support a DisplayPort (at least don't have the connection.)

Apr 5, 2010Thinking about getting one to go with my m4500 which is on order. Reviews seem ok though some complain it's bulky and other complained the release mechanism wasn't great. Worst was that someone said their comp wouldn't boot when docked.

Lenovo ThinkPad W Series :: W540 - Ultra Dock Docking Station 170 Not Providing Any Signal To External Monitors
Sep 8, 2014I am running a IBM Thinkpad W540 with a Lenovo Ultra Dock Docking Station 170 (Model 40A20170US). I have 3 Asus 23.6" LED HD Monitors (Model VN247HP). These monitors have a standard VGA connection and 2 HDMI ports, By default you are provided a VGA cable and a HDMI-DVI cable. When I plug these monitors into the Ultra Dock no signal is found(including the VGA).
When I plug into the direct VGA port on the laptop, the monitor gets signal. If I use a Mini-DP connection with a Mini-DP-DVI adapter I get signal just fine. If I plug my this monitor into my desktop under HDMI and DVI connections it works just fine.
I have gone into the bios and confirmed that under display the "Video Mode on Dock" is set to Advanced(I tried standard and it did not work any better). I have the latest video drivers for the Intel HD graphics driver (10.18.10.3412) and the NVIDIA Quadro K1100M (9.18.13.4052). The USB ports work just fine, as does the power cable for the docking station. I tried applying the latest firmware update but the program runs and nothing happens. I checked for any other drivers that might have resolve the issue but have not had any luck.

May 27, 2010I recently got a dell M4400 and large external dell monitor. I purchased the e-port replicator. I should be able to dock my laptop and use an external monitor and keyboard/mouse.
I can do that, but when I shut my laptop, the whole thing shuts down. Is this correct? I know I've used docking stations in the past and didn't have to have the laptop open. If I do, what is the point of the docking station?
The E-Port replicator had pretty much no documentation. Also, when I dock my laptop, shouldn't it see the docking station?

Nov 6, 2008I have a Dell M4400 with nVidia 770 and I also have a Dell 3007WFP which supports 2560x1600 native resolution. Does anyone know if the M4400 will support this resolution if I dock it to an E-Port Replicator and use the DVI output of the docking station to the 3007WFP? When I looked at the Dell manual for the E-Port Replicator (and also the Plus) it didn't say if the DVI output supports dual-link.

Feb 15, 2009Im starting a thread b/c many people seem to be experiencing some issues with their Latitude while docked.
Some of my problems (keep in mind I use TWO external displays):
1) Most prevalent is my fan issue. This might only apply to nVidia GPU users. It appears that two things are happening: a) the dock simply does not allow for proper heat dissipation.
This for me is a fact as my laptop runs both cooler and, utlizes much lower fan speeds while undocked. b) DELL may have set the fans to kick in at lower temps particularly with the nvidia gpu
Dell :: M4400 Lock Up When Redocking To E-Port Plus Replicator
Dec 24, 2009At work I use M4400 that is docked to E-Port Plus replicator. If I start the laptop while docked, everything works great.
When I undock the laptop (while still running) everything is still fine. Although sometimes the laptop lid need to be opened and closed twice for the display output to show up on the laptop screen.
The real problem occurs when I redock the laptop (while still running) to the E-Port Plus replicator. Most of the time, the display output does not transfer to my external monitor (22" Dell monitor). The laptop appears to be locked up, and I need to reboot the computer
