Today at the end of school I took my notebook (Sony Vaio SR) out of my bag (special notebook bag) and got it out of stand by. I noticed that there were vertical lines on exactly the left half of the screen.
The lines are separated exactly equal and the color changes when images are moved. They are not of a certain color, perhaps a bit brown .....
At last the day came.. after almost a month of waiting i got my new Z540 - very stylish and nice machine.. but unfortantly i noticed the top-panel (keyboard) seemed un-attached to the buttom.. see the pics:
I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 with a rev0 7900gs Go, and I recently flashed it with the 7900GTX bios (790GTXUN.ROM) and followed the info given on post 1 here: [url]
The clocks for this BIOS were set at 500/600 by default, but I went ahead and clocked them up to 530/630, then eventually up to 575/700. I am running ATi Tool 0.27b2 and ran the artifact test, it ran for about 10 minutes and then some artifacts started to show at about 93c. As soon as they started coming up, I canceled the artifact test then rebooted, and re flashed back to the original 7900GS BIOS. I have been playing WoW for the last 30mins and it has been running fine but I am worried that I may have damaged my card, would anyone please be able to tell me what you think or what could have caused the artifacting?
I sent my 8510p laptop in to HP to fix a video problem and they replaced the video board, sent it back to me. When I got it back it was very clear that there was still a problem, the video signal intermittently clouded up like there was a disconnect in the cable - I figured the tech didn't press the connector cable firmly into place. I sent it back for the 2nd time.
I got the laptop back and all my video problems were fixed; however, there was now a 2 to 3 inch long crack around one of the screws on the bottom of the case - like someone took a chisel or a screwdriver to pry up at the case. I told customer service and they sent a box for me to pack it up and send it back. This is the 3rd week in a row without my computer at home - it's starting to cause major problems because I need my computer to study.
I get a call back this last Friday from billing at HP telling me they aren't going to fix the case unless I pay them $200 even though it's very clear that the crack was caused by an incompetent tech trying to get into the unit. There was no damage to the shipping box and this kind of crack simply could not have happened during shipping - HP also tells me that because I got it late Thursday and didn't report it til Sunday morning, that I can't be covered for shipping damage (even though there was no shipping damage). They want $89 to send it back to me unfixed too.
I told them I wouldn't pay them anything for damage they caused - I left a message on the voicemail of the billing department supervisor...............
Anyway...when I took it out of the box, it has a fairly large, very noticeable black scratch on the LCD. Has anybody else experienced this? I've called dell and they are sending a tech out to replace it. Question:
HP Chromebook 11 Model CB2 Purchased June 2014 Problems with charging for about half of that time. Â It has always been difficult plugging in the charger and is no longer possible due to visible damage of the charging port.
I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 RC over Vista on my inspiron 1520. Windows 7 appeared to automatically install the correct drivers for everything
except the graphics card, as everything else appeared to be working properly (e.g. wireless, scrollpad, etc.) After manually downloading and installing the NVidia driver, the aero stuff started to work.
However shortly afterwards, I noticed that the left side of my screen seemed slightly dimmer than the rest of the screen. The problem gets even worse, as the backlight would suddenly turn off after shorter and shorter periods.
I thought maybe the windows 7 drivers were incompatible with my the laptop, so I uninstalled windows 7 and installed Vista back along with the original drivers, but that didn't fix the problem .....
I have a Dell XPS M2010 which i love....but recently my video card was somehow damaged and as i have warranty i called the technical support on 20th march(friday) nd they said they were gona send me a engineer on tuesday if not they were gona call me nd tell me.... but i did not receive anycall so i took a day off and waited but no1 came. so i called them later that day and they sed they don hav the part so i will have to wait a bit longer for the part and they will let me kno with updates...but i still haven't heard from dem yet nd its my final weeks in uni nd i really need my laptop...they sent me an email sayin that the parts shud arrive by "mid-February" i don kno were febr came from.
I have a Dell Latitude D600 that came with a 60gb hard drive. I had a D600 previous to this one with a 40gb hard drive and I swapped this hard drive into the newer D600 since I had all my important data stored on it already.
Just the other day when I was performing some maintenance on the D600,
I accidentally dropped the 40gb on the floor when it was out of the computer. I thought everything was fine because it seemed to boot up when
I re-installed it, but I hadn't actually tried using it until today
I have a dv9000 series and the the ribbon cable that goes from the power button to it's respective conector on the motherboard is a bit damaged one of the metal contacts at one end has "skinned" off.
What would you do, look for a replacement online, i doubt a shop would stoc such a thing, of do these cables tend to be standard, the model number of the cable is E118077.
Also you should be able to completely remove a motherboard, including detaching it from the screen and still power the fan on, obvioulsy with the battery connected?
It's this cable, [url] could you somewow slice the end off and then cut a small section so you have some new contacts showing?
Our HDD has been damaged and lost everything. No matter because I have a backup of files, but I lost my Windows 7 recovery partition.  I have 5 Computers of this model exactly . Is it possible to create recovery disks from any  HP application (from a good HP620 model) ? Is it possible  to create a recovery partition from one of our HP620 ??  In HP630 there is an application called Recovery Manager,, but not in HP620 .
So my girlfriend just received her new dell studio 1458 and the dvd drive just wreck 2 dvds, the sims 3 and modern warfare 2. There is now a circle ring etched onto each dvd by the dvd drive,
Now the dvds are not readable anymore, speaking to technical support right now and they refused to replace those dvds, she just received this computer and this drive is already faulty!
Spoke to a supervisor and all he said dell will replace the dvd drive and I am thinking no sh*t sherlock of course you have to
my business partner dropped her XPS 1330 and cosmetically damaged the case and cover.
we have Complete Care and Next Business Day coverage. phoned in the claim and Dell advised that NBD only applies to hardware failure due to Dell and not a dropped machine
I was browsing the HP drivers yesterday when I noticed that a new version of the GeForce drivers was available for my system, released on April 28, 2009. Their site describes it as: HP Link
Quote:
Description: This package contains the driver for the NVIDIA GeForce Series video chip in the supported notebook models and operating systems................
I have Compaq Presario M2253AP laptop with Serial No.[Edited for Personal Information]and Product No.EH049PA. bought in June 2006 and is having Windows XP as OS
The internal speakers were not working and when checked cones of both the speakers are damaged. I need replacement of the entire speaker bar.
I own a HP G72-130SB Productnumber VY062EA#UUG Â My hard drive has crashed. My restore DVd is damaged. I installed a new windows 7 64 bit. Â The graphics drivers (ATI HD 5430) is not installed. Can't find the driver. The latest ATI drivers don't work. Â I need the original. HP don't give support anymore on their website.
My Inspiron laptop is not able to boot. I am getting the message:
"No Boot Device Found. Press any key to reboot the machine_"
I took the laptop to a local service center and they said that I need a new motherboard. They said they  swapped the hard drive with a working one and got the same error message. By that their diagnosis is that the motherboard is damaged.Â
Something recently happened to my laptop, and now whenever I boot up my laptop, I get a message stating that "No drive detected", and I don't know if the hard drive might be damaged or not.
I tried connecting the hard drive directly to a desktop pc since it's a sata hard drive, but my desktop pc just froze on the boot screen whenever this hard drive was connected.
I also was going to try and use a hard drive external case to maybe connect it to the pc this way, but I wasn't sure if it would work
I need to remove it, but the screw on the bottom, which needs to be removed in order to take out the cd drive, has been damaged by me trying to unscrew it, and it will not turn, so the head is damaged and i cannot use a screw driver to turn it.
is the sony FW35V(customizable) on the sony style uk site a 1920x1080 a dual lamp LCD? it says 16.4" H1080 WXGA++ (1920 x 1080) Widescreen X-black LCD screen with built-in "Motion Eye" Digital Camera, but is it a 1920x1080 dual lamp, multiple lamp(how many?) orr single lamp? make sure its the fw35v not the fw35x. the fw35v is the one that costs £60 to upgrade the screen. the fw35x says HD1080 (1920x1080) X-black LCD with multiple lamp, which im guessing is a dual lamp LCD right? also is the Dual lamp worth it for £60? what does it do? give brighter?, sharper?, more deep and rich colours? or something else?
I am considering some laptops and the sony vaio is one of them. I have heard great things about the screen but it is glossy, something I have sworn off all these years. I have seeing reflections on my screen. how the anti-reflective screen performs?
I just bought a brand new Sony Vaio VPCF11M1E and I have the following problem:
Because in normal stand the screen is very small, I enlarged it to x150%. Everything becomes bigger, but the following parts are blurry and absolutely not sharp:
-Pop ups, of programs and of windows itself (like advanced settings of something and then a new windows pops up, that one is then totally blurry; you can read it, but it is not the good resolution)
-Google chrome (and with that, all the internet pages)
-The google chrome on the desktop is also very blurry, while all the others, are still sharp (after the enlargement by 150%)
I have tried everything (32 bits colours is on, cleartype is on). I also did a system restore to the first days I bought the laptop and then it was on 100% so the resolution was excellent, but then I put it on 150% and again, the parts I mentioned above, were blurry.
the fw series can be purchased with either the 16.4" VAIO Display (1600x900) or the
16.4" VAIO extra-wide HD display (1920x1080)
How much smaller is the text on the true HD screen? I will be using the laptop for charts so more pixels means more screen real estate means more charts. But if the text is difficult to read, then it is counterproductive.
Seeing the gridlines on the charts is also important so if I need a magnifying glass to see what's going on, then the TRUE HD screen is not worth it
I tried to go see a Z in person but Best Buy had none. They had another Sony laptop and frankly the screen was poor, with terrible light output and I checked to see if it was plugged in and had brightness cranked up. I have to think the Z has a different quality screen but wanted to hear it first here.
Sony no longer call the cheaper lower resolution screen as ECO screen. Instead, they simply call it "16.4" VAIO Display (1600x900)".
Does it mean that the lower resolution model has the same brightness and color richness as the higher resolution 1920x1080 model? It doesn't seem to be. From the item description, this is what they say .....
