View 4 RepliesI am planning to get 2x 23inch monitors 1920x1200. So now here is the situation. I want to connect both of these to my sony vaio z. I have found solutions such as the Matrox DualHead2Go box and what not.. But i was wondering if i can get the sony z docking station and use that for dual output. Unlike some other threads that i've read my situation would be to plug the hdmi on the laptop to monitor1 and the dvi from the docking station to monitor 2.

If I connect my hp2760p, everything goes.

The 2710p has w7 32bit, last version o BIOS and drivers.
I just bought a second-hand Sony Vaio TZ 390, which came with Vista. I updated to Windows 7 and installed all the drivers. Everything seems to work but I cannot get the Vaio TZ to output to the external display. What happens is the external lcd gets a signal initially when I turn on the Vaio TZ (connected to the lcd) but it loses the signal shortly after I log into Windows 7. Btw, the lcd I use is a Samsung 2333HD.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've got a european Sony Vaio Z (first generation), which seems to have some major overheating issues, especially when it's connected to an external display.
Setup:
Sony Vaio Z11VN -> Docking station -> NEC2690WUXi (running at 1920x1200)
Here's a summary of temperatures when this machine is in SPEED mode (Nvidia 9300gs) in Windows XP (idle)
GPU: 92C(198F)
HD0: 41C(106F)
Temp1: 66C(151F)
Core0: 78C(172F)
Core1: 78C(172F)
Clearly, the temperature drops if I switch to STAMINA mode, or if I unplug the laptop from the docking station, however, in the latter case the temperature drops to perhaps 70C.. so that is without running it on the external 1920x1200 display.
and when running 3d applications or games, the laptop can simply shut itself off for no reason whatsoever (overheated?)
I've heard about overheating problems of the NVIDIA GPUs.. is this such a case? (NVIDIA 9300GS)
I'd like to know if anyone else have had this problem with their Vaio Z (i've seen ppl having problems with the FZ)
My model is a VGN-Z11VN (swedish, although distributed via the UK)
I am running a IBM Thinkpad W540 with a Lenovo Ultra Dock Docking Station 170 (Model 40A20170US). I have 3 Asus 23.6" LED HD Monitors (Model VN247HP). These monitors have a standard VGA connection and 2 HDMI ports, By default you are provided a VGA cable and a HDMI-DVI cable. When I plug these monitors into the Ultra Dock no signal is found(including the VGA).
When I plug into the direct VGA port on the laptop, the monitor gets signal. If I use a Mini-DP connection with a Mini-DP-DVI adapter I get signal just fine. If I plug my this monitor into my desktop under HDMI and DVI connections it works just fine.
I have gone into the bios and confirmed that under display the "Video Mode on Dock" is set to Advanced(I tried standard and it did not work any better). I have the latest video drivers for the Intel HD graphics driver (10.18.10.3412) and the NVIDIA Quadro K1100M (9.18.13.4052). The USB ports work just fine, as does the power cable for the docking station. I tried applying the latest firmware update but the program runs and nothing happens. I checked for any other drivers that might have resolve the issue but have not had any luck.
I am having problems connecting an external monitor, Dell 2709W, to my Elitebook 820 G1.
Â
I have an Intel HD 4400 graphics solution. The monitor says:
Â
Out of range signal
Cannot display this video mode
change computer display input to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz.
Â
I use a Display Port cable for the connection.
Â
My OS is Win 8.1 64bit
Â
I have used the HP support assistant to update all hardware drivers...
I have Thinkpad Edge E330 bought this July, with win8 downgraded to win7. It recently started a problem where the laptop's own display doesn't display anything (just blank) if I don't have external display connected. The external display doesn't have be in use, just connected, and E330's own display works fine. If I disconnect the external display, the E330's own display goes blank also. It doesn't matter what display setting I have.Currently I'm not able to use my E330 as a laptop at all.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe monitor on my HP Pavilion dv9830us laptop has not been working for some time and I have had to use an external CRT monitor for my display. A couple nights ago, my operating system (Ubuntu Linux 10.04) failed to load and because I can't get video feed to my external monitor until the video drivers on Ubuntu loads, I am unable to run Ubuntu's repair feature and the beginning of boot.
Â
Is there a way I can get my laptop to use my external monitor at all times, even at the BIOS screen? Is there a setting in BIOS for this?
One of our employees has an HP Pavilion G6 laptop. He uses an external display at work but has to keep the screen of the laptop open. If he closes the screen, then the video to the external display is power off.
Â
What are the settings to allow the laptop screen to be closed and still be able to get video to an external display.
My screen is no longer good so im trying to connect a external display.Been trying for hours trying to get the external display to work of boot.Ive tryed everything changing 2 sets of hd cables and svga cables. The function key. The Laptop does recognize the display but seems to go into powersave mode or something. The only way i can get the external display to work is if i pull the battery and wait a bit then power up the display will work with a notice on the screen that cmos will be reset to defaults then restarts and back to where i was again.Pavilion dm4-1160us.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo L440 laptop with a think pad pro dock. The HDD is encrypted with TrueCrypt and needs a password before windows will boot. The laptop will not display out to the monitor attached to the dock before windows loads. I have changed the bios setting Config > Display > Boot Display Device, as well as all the other display options, but it does not make a difference. I have tried with a VGA cable and a DVI cable and neither works. I have tried with 2 different L440s and 2 docking stations with the same problem occuring on both. I have successfully used a Lenovo L540 laptop with the same model of docking station. I have also updated to the most current bios version.

I'm wondering if I'm missing something or if the L440 model simply does not support this function?
I have an XPS M1530 running Vista Home Premium 64-bit, T-9300 Processor, 6 gig RAM, 320 gig 7200-rpm harddrive. I am using it with the Kensington SD100S Laptop Docking Station (with stand) and a 22" Samsung monitor (monitor as primary display and laptop display as secondary display) and the Dell Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The Kensignton docking station attaches to the M1530 via USB.
My question is, is it safe for me to detach the docking station when the M1530 is booted up and running? What about detaching the monitor? Except when I have an external USB harddrive turned on, there is not anything in my tray icons to indicate (as far as I can tell) that any hardware needs to be safely removed.
I have a 2nd AC adapter in my den separate from my home office, but I so rarely take the laptop mobile in the house since I power down first. Please let me know whether I am being too cautious, and if it is safe to detach the docking station and monitor while running any precautions that I should take. I do have my XPS backed up via Ghost if a problem should happen.

Does this seems to you like a SW error, or broken docking station? Maybe I should do some driver upgrade, but dont know where to look for them?
Can someone please recommend a docking station for the new CW?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought HP 6930p with ATI graphic card, WIN 7, and connected to the external display 24" (1920x1080) trough VGA port. There is a very noticable blurry and annoying image on external display. I tried different settings, but nothing did not help. Is there any solution to this problem? could be my graphic card or vga output damaged? Since with my 4 years old toshiba notebook, image was clear.
Has anybody docking station and is DVI output working fine (clear image)?
Does anyone use this set up?
View 10 Replies View RelatedWe are using the sony prz1 docking station with our z590 laptops. we are having a lot of problems with the video signal and monitor resolution.
When we start the laptop (docked or undocked) the video signal and resolution has to be set manually everytime to use an external monitor (if you have already docked it and setup the dual monitor settings (clone) and just restart without undocking it the settings will stay the same).
after the resolution has been set for the external monitor and then we undock the laptop (start>undock). the resolution does not change back to the native laptop resolution. we have 4 machines setup like this. they all use different external monitors (samsung, viewsonic, hp, and sceptre).
I just purchased a VGN-Z690 Z series Sony notebook. The VGP-PRZ1 docking
station is not available at Sony or any major suppliers. Does anyone know where to get one new or refurbished?
Has anyone used a docking station with a Z11x? I'm looking at picking one up but want to make sure I do not have to reboot when I dock or undock.
To avoid any confusion:
I attend meetings off and on all day and would like to be able to use it at my desk, de-dock, use it in a conference room, go back to my desk and dock it and have it switch over the power, network and keyboard/video/mouse without rebooting, etc.
I just bought a Sony Vaio SR59VG/H and I really like it so far!
A problem I've stumbled upon though is that a connected VGA-cable covers a part of the HDMI port!
My intention was to see if I could use both ports simultaneously by making a dual screen setup (not including the laptop screen of course). Since I don't have any thin VGA cables (and they are nowhere to be found in stores), the solution seems to be to buy the docking station.
And so to my question, does anyone here have the docking station? Can you confirm that a dual-screen (not cloning) setup is possible using both VGA and the DVI-D port on this docking station? I also suppose that it's actually the Radeon card that is used, and not a stupid usb-to-vga/dvi adapter inside the docking station.
By the way, some "interresting" facts:
Sony W7 Pro installation: 92 processes, 1.2GB used memory, 20-30% constant CPU usage.
Clean W7 Pro installation: 34 processes (after indexing turned off), 850MB memory and 0% constant cpu usage.
I am planning to buy one of the Sony Vaio NS series laptops. My question is in regards to a docking station. I really want to be able easily use my current desktop monitor and keyboard. Most of what I do is in Photo Shop and I have a big monitor that I can see lots of detail on my desktop. I contacted Sony and they said they don’t currently make a docking station for the NS series. It has been years since I’ve had a laptop and not sure of the options out there. It used to be I could just slide my HP laptop into this “station” that would automatically “plug” into my monitor, keyboard, etc.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi finally got the docking station for my Sr, have to say its not as good as i had hoped, the unit doesnt seem to click in, and in general its a fairly poor dock compared to the HP ones i have at work. That aside i have an issue.
1. When using the SR in the dock, i have to open the screen before the power button will start the unit? Seems strange, is there a setting for this or is this a poor design?
2. When the laptop is on and docked, my network connections both connect at the same time, eg i have wifi and lan both connected, this seems a bit strange, i would have thought that when im docked the unit wouldnt use wifi, and would use LAN instead. Again is there a setting for this as its not ideal currently.
Aside from that all seems well with the unit, seems stange to me that the dock provides gigabit network and the machine unit provides up to 100.
Does Sony make a docking station for the FW 590? I tried looking on their website but couldn't find anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking on using my MBA as my main computer, therefore I'm considering buying the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and the Mighty Mouse and hooking up to my HP Monitor for when I'm at my desk for long periods.
It's very easy to hook up ... this MBA seems quick enough and a usb hub can be added if need be ... why not use it as a main pc?
Further, the only windows app I'm really going to miss is Publisher, I'm thinking on being daring and installing Vista on the Mac with Bootcamp and then run Publisher in Windows. If that worked well I could get rid of the T500... (I have a desktop I could use for heavier app's, movie/music downloading) ...
Seems like a lot of work for such a small little machine, lol, can it handle it? Has anyone there done this before with success?
I was getting frustrated with my external monitor because the screen color was turning dark purplish at times, so I went into Device Manager and deleted both default monitor entries instead of just one under Monitors in hopes that it would've gotten rid of the purple haze so to speak.
I tried unhooking the monitor and unplugging everything before I deleted the default monitor entries in Device Manager, but it didn't get rid of the purple screen.
I have a fairly old notebook Dell Inspiron 4000 with WinMe installed and the display is no longer working assumed due to a bad or broken LCD, which is why I'm using the external monitor.
The external monitor has been working fine for months until it started turning purple on me when it was being used with the notebook. When the monitor is hooked up with my desktop, the screen color is just fine.
The notebook has got a lot of storage on it. During the boot process on the notebook, the external monitor lights up at one point (no longer purplish), but goes blank/dark after a few seconds and says it no longer is getting a signal from the notebook
