Sep 18, 2009I'm looking for a good deal on a Intel 2 Duo T9400 cpu and I found a Penryn Engineering Sample Q4HQ (No Sensor) which I can get real cheap then there's the Retail version which is not so cheap. Is there any real importance getting the Engineering Sample Q4HQ over the Retail Version.

Dec 4, 2008We bought a Dell Studio 1525 with the "Sea Sky" pattern off of the Dell outlet. We did not get a 1525 w/ the Sea Sky pattern.... it came with some sort of Red Swirl pattern.
Now, I call Dell... they tell me that it is the pattern that we ordered... what? I am not blind, I can read. Dell CONFIRMED we ordered the Sea Sky pattern and sent us something else.
Yes, I am pissed about the pattern on the laptop, not because of the pattern on the laptop, but because they sent us the wrong product and WILL NOT send us the correct product. If we bought one that had 3 gigs of RAM and they sent us one that only had 2, would they pull this same BS?

I understand that these days Dell simply ships a re-install disk if that much. I need a full version of windows to setup vmware. Does anyone know if the dell key can be used with a full version disk to do an install .....

Jun 30, 2009Ever since I setup a Mac for a friend of mine, I've been very interested in the Mac and Mac OS X. It's fairly easy to learn and runs very well. Of course, I've been dealing with Windows for over 15 years, dating back to Windows 3.1. I also work with Windows 99% of the time since I mainly work on PCs as a PC tech.
Of course, Windows will run on a Mac using Boot Camp, but it seems like there's a whole variety of glitches when running Windows on a Mac using Boot Camp. Thus, I come up with the following question: which version of Windows runs best under Boot Camp? XP? 32 or 64-bit Vista? 32 or 64-bit Windows 7 RC? Do I need to wait for Snow Leopard to come out with better Boot Camp drivers? Do I even need to wait for Windows 7 to come out?
I am seriously looking at getting a 13" MacBook Pro and will most likely run some version of Windows on it using Boot Camp. Also, depending on the version, what amount of RAM is needed? I know that if you have 4GB or more RAM, you might as well run 64-bit Windows 7. Other than that, I'll probably run mostly Mac OS X on the MacBook Pro, but having some version of Windows on the MacBook Pro running under BootCamp would come in handy. Not sure if I'll do Parallels or Fusion.

It won't start off battery, off of power, off of power without battery -- it just blinks green, I can hear the DVD drive momentarily engage, there is a slight "beep" -- it tries this about three times before giving up and shutting down.

Nov 12, 2009I recently purchased a VGN-SR490PBB which came with preinstalled XP Pro. According to all the literature, I am entitled to a Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) upgrade.
I proceeded to install the Recovery Media Kit that came with my laptop. The recovery media says basically, "Use this Recovery Kit to recover the preinstalled operating system and applications..."
It installed Vista Ultimate (64-Bit). I am being shipped the Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) upgrade from Mentor Media. So you can probably see the issue already, 64-Bit OS installed, 32-Bit upgrade disks in the mail. Not going to work.
So here's what happened so far (whole process below took 2-hours).
1. Chatted with a live person from Sony's Tech Support person, who directed me to Mentor Media .....
