I have a VGN-NS135E and at random times there is a staticy sound coming from the speakers like bad reception on a radio. It happens randomly it seems regardless if i'm listening to music or not.
It happens with the volume on and on mute. I can hear audio just fine. When the speakers decide to make that static noise the audio is clear, just mixed with static

Stopping the playback stops the white noise after approximately 4 seconds. I never had this issue with any laptop / soundcard. Can this be fixed?

I have the latest BIOS and drivers installed. Headphones are fine (no white noise).

Maybe the inbuilt L440 soundcard has a problem. I had to return my first L440 because there was a loud plop when starting playback and the left speaker was way quieter than the right one.

In the German part of this forum people are reporting problems realted to the internal speaker (cracking sound, white noise).
I just got an HP Pavillion dv9000 laptop a few days ago and everything is great, except for this static noise coming from the speaker. It kind of sounds like when you have your TV on a blank screen, but you have the volume as high as it goes. Every now and then there's a little pop or crack sound too. Some important things to note:
- It was a refurb
- The noise immediately stops when the volume is muted
- All drivers are up to date
- If I go into the volume settings, I can slide the volume all the way over to the right side, and the noise stops, but any amount of volume going through the left side and the noise is back
- The noise is the same at any volume level
- If I plug in headphones, there is no noise through the headphones, it only happens on the speakers
At first I thought it wasn't anything big, just a driver update or just a matter of breaking the laptop in, but now after a few days it's starting to get annoying. I don't want to leave the sound on mute all the time, and even when I am listening to audio I can still hear this noise.
I hear white noise / static noise (whatever is the proper term for that) when using headphones with Studio XPS 1640. It is most audible when no sound or music is being played from the laptop.
I'm not if it has something to do with the type of headphones that I am using (I have two sets of Creative earphones that I got together with my XPS M1210 and 1530).
For the Yoga 2 Pro owners out there, how much static do you have in your headphone jack? Â I am loving everything about this laptop except for some noticeable static at low volumes and some backlight bleeding at the bottom of the screen. Â I have tried two different headsets, my Senheiser HD 280 Pros and my Etymotic earbuds.

I am curious how everyone elses behaves. Â If this is normal I can probably live with it. Â If I am the only one, I may get it replaced. Â Build date 11/06/2013, purchased from Lenovo's website.
I received my Inspiron 7537 1080 3 weeks ago. Everything works perfectly except the static noise after connecting headphones. Tried different headphones,latest drivers nothing worked. Dell has sent an engineer to look at the problem. He replaced entire motherboard but the noise is still there. I tried Bluetooth headphones and external sound card but this hissing noise is always there in the background. I am thinking about getting another one after refund but not sure if this static noise is present in all models or was this only one off.

The pitch of the scratchy sound varies with screen brightness.

if anyone has had sound issues with their DV5? I have the current bios F13 and have un-installed and reinstalled sound drivers and such. What is happening is the sound will randomly make a static boom noise and then go away and then do it again.. i have checked my external speaks and have even replaced them thinking it was them.. it is not since it is happening with my onboard speakers as well. So this static boom sound is a constant annoyance along with music sounding rather off/staticy..

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new Lenovo Ultra Dock 170w and have power logitech speakers hooked up to the dock using the audio port. When the laptop is off or removed from the dock, I get a what sounds like static coming through my speakers fairly loud. Â I prevously had a T500 and a dock in the same configuration without this issue.Â

I have removed the dock power and still get the audio distortion. I have to completely remove all connected wires aside from audio before the noise go away. I am thinking there is a grounding issue with the audio jack on the Ultra Dock. Only happens with powered external speakers... I have tried with other speakers and get the same noise over them too. Â

No sort of audio is given out of the speakers or through head phones. I did restart the computer and i ran the windows basic troubleshoot.Â
I have got a Dell 9300 that I've been using for recording for a while. I've recently gotten a new external audio interface, a Presonus Firestudio that I connect to the Firewire port on the 9300. I'm getting digital noise coming through the Firestudio from the 9300 through the Firewire port. The noise, ie. chirping, clicking and popping, happens when you move your mouse or resize a window.
I've tried running the interface into the computer using a PCMCIA to FW adapter and running it into the cardbus slot. That has reduced the noise some, but has not eliminated it.
I don't remember getting this noise always, but I certainly have been dealing with it for a while. The noise isn't recorded so I can record just fine, it's just noisy when I'm monitoring.

I tried using the hlt command in RM CPU clock utility, like many people have suggested, but the version I have does not even let me check the box. It is an option though, but the writing is in grey and cannot be chosen.
I was wondering if maybe there were some other options i could tweak to lessen the damn noise!
Under "advanced CPU settings" , I can choise the ACPI state to modifiy but there are the only options i could change:
Enable CPU low power
Enable Northbridge Low power
Enable FID/VID change
And i can change the clock divisor to the following:
8,16,32,64,128,256,512.....
I just installed windows vista 32-bit on bootcamp, my problem is that when i am using vista, there is this high pitched noise coming from the laptop, but the noise isnt there when i use leopard.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis doesn't always happen, but I've noticed a few times on my T440p that when I have headphones plugged in, sounds comes out of the speakers. The headphones are functional and fully plugged in, yet no sound comes out of them, and the sound comes out of the speakers. I've fixed this multiple times by unplugging the headphones and plugging them back in.

I had noise coming from my optical drive. The computer randomly checks my optical drive as if I were booting up or put a disk in it. I took it out, re-seated it and flashed the BIOS. It seemed to be better for a week or so but it has come back with a vengeance. I keep hearing the click of it accessing at odd times (again, when I insert a memory stick, or am working with pictures, were some times that it makes the noise). I now crack the door and leave the drive open so it's not accessing on and off all the time. I have confirmed it is not the hard drive acting up as I have run a diagnostic program to check HD health and it is fine, but I have the feeling something is up with the fan. Would the fan have to be replaced? It seems to be working properly but that noise makes me worried something is up.

Default format needs to be changed to 24bit 192000hz studio quality.

its happening on my SR, so here goes:
Recently I've found 2 things:
1- my hard drive makes a very soft clicking noise, only noticeable when the room is perfectly quiet. but it's also noticeable because my system locks when it clicks for this split second, enough that if im scrolling it lags. not a biggie but...
2- ive found my audio (mp3s) to be skipping (odd click or blip here or there, like the track was ripped badly), and to my ear's horror, PURE STATIC for a few seconds will pop up irregardless of the volume settings (ie. i will try to scroll down volume in itunes but it has no effect on the banshee like sound thats trying to destroy my ear drums).
This happens in WMP and iTunes, so its not a software problem....
so whats going on? hdd dying? sound card dying? windows?

My AC Adapter port on my 11 month old VAIO FW came loose and it's not charging. Simultaneously I think my AC Adapter simply broke.
Sony is mailing me a new AC Adapter and is having a tech come to my house to fix the port. Anyone have experience with this
if you have an older SZ and want to add a 3rd wire, this will show you how and where to put it.
So a while back I upgraded the the 4965AGN in my SZ750N to an Intel 5200, since that day, B&G has been noisy. I managed to arrange the antenna connections in such a way as to minimize it to within tolerable limits. I also talked to some experts and they said it wasn't going to hurt anything if there was a bit of static so I left it.
I have known for a while that is was the white antenna lead that was causing the static. Unfortunately disconnecting it caused a drop in signal. While working on my Windows 7 guide I had a problem and had to open the laptop. While doing so I noticed the white lead and the antenna it attached to. I hadn't ever really noticed where it sat before. Sony couldn't have hardly chosen a worse place for it.
Sony decided the best place for it, and I assume this is because they merely upgraded the old 2 wire wireless to 3 by adding this, is almost under the power button. Right next to... a speaker. The lead runs along a Speaker wire and puts the antenna right next to it. See pics 1 & 2................
I put my new laptop into hibernate and into my laptop bag. At about 3 am (I looked at event log) it seems to over the last few days come out of hibernation and come on. Within 10 minutes it goes back to sleep/hibernate. This happens while I am not even touching it. Would this have caused any damage (heat while in bag)? I doubt it but it is new and I am paranoid! Also for now I am just shutting down if the laptop is not plugged in and not in use.
