Sep 12, 2009is there any way to control the fan speed of this lap top?
I have tried speedfan, rivatuner, even tried the undervolting option with RMClock (no success - the CPU was running at the lowest voltage already).
One option did present some signs of activity - Acer Asprie One (!) Fan Control utility. However, it only switched off the fan completely. Besides that, it was quite unstable and sometimes forgot to turn the fan back on after the threshold of temperature was crossed again.
By the way: computer doesn't get hot at all. The feel is quite cool, as Speedfan utility indicates these temperatures:
GPU: 41C
HD0: 36C
Temp1: 54C
Core0: 30C
Core1: 27C
It appears that I love this lap top almost for everything, except its loud operating sound.
I am running at:
ACER 5739G
Vista 32 bit,
Chipset: Intel PM45
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T6600
GPU: GeForce GT 130M

I have had this laptop for about a year now and ever since I bought it it has had major throttling issues while gaming. I have tried many ways to make it run cooler with no such luck (It runs at about 95*C when playing most games) . The fan never runs at 100%, only aboout 70% (from what I can hear) so I was wondering if their was a way I could control the fan in order to run it at 100%.

Jan 18, 2015I replaced the HDD in my Aspire 7736Z. I ordered the disks FROM ACER. I keep getting the "No Operating System" error.
The disks that were sent by Acer will not boot and I cannot figure out how to boot them from a "bootable disk"

The BIOS sees the new HDD and the DVD player but will not boot.

Sep 28, 2009The few programs that I know that detect fans won't even show a fan on my laptop, nor does it show on my Friend's G60 (or whatever the silver one is, I don't remember it exactly).

Feb 25, 2009Today I got my HP EliteBook 2530p in "FU432EA" configuration. It was important for me to have an optical drive, so i chose the configuration with the 120 GB 1,8" HDD.
The 2530p looks great so far and performs pretty well... If there weren't the extremely annoying noises coming from the notebook.
The HDD with its 5400 rpm (it's a Samsung HS122JF, very slow btw, not really faster than 4200 rpm drives) makes a clearly audible, very high frequency noise and turns on/off every 30-60 seconds resulting in clicking sounds. I can live with that for the moment, because I'll upgrade to some SSD in the near future.
But the second annoyance is the fan inside the laptop. Even when idling in windows with temps below 50 °C the fan turns on every few moments. Unfortunately I haven't been able to control the system fan or even read the actual speed. I tried Notebook Hardware Control, SpeedFan and HWMon, but neither of them reported me anything about the fan. I tried undervolting the CPU with RMClock (which doesn't really support the new Penryn CPUs) and got a few degrees less, but this wasn't enough to keep the fan quiet. In the BIOS there are no options regarding the fan, only some "keep fan always running on AC power", which I disabled.

Feb 18, 2009well last night and this morning i was busy making my self a home made cooling pad, with some crap laying around the house. I don't know if there is already one but i'll put this one up. I will upload pictures tomorrow. The total project was about 1 hour and cost less than $10. It also has a speed control which is cool (it is built on my ac/dc adapter so you will make yours). My mother-tongue is not English but French, so excuse the words i might use or not use. Also their are some tools i couldn't translate the name, but when pics are up I'm sure you will know..................

Jan 12, 2015I have changed my dell studio 1535 motherboard after ordering a refurbished one from dell. When reconnecting all the parts, everything worked well except the control media button <Previous Track> which was lighting up by itself from time to time.
I unplugged the media control panel, plugged it up again. This time the media panel is lighting up intermittently and the laptop cooler is at maximum. Unplugged again, a cable pin was short circuited and got broken in the process :(.
Fixed the cable, now the media control panel is completely down and the cooler runs at maximum speed. Removing the media panel fixes the cooler issue.
As I am not an expert into this, I was wondering if changing the panel will fix my problem or the faulty connection could have broken the motherboard control panel circuit.
PS. When running diagnostic via F12 key, no faulty issue is detected.
Acer :: Hot Aspire 5520M CPU And Speed
Oct 10, 2008I have a problem with my Acer Aspire 5520M ... I it getting very very hot, about 90-91 degrees when I use it, then the fans turns on and it get's colder. It does this A LOT, and when I game i shifts between laggin and running fine. It is very very annoying, and I have NO idea what is wrong.. I even have problems running warcraft 3 in 800x600x16, which I think should be running fine all the time.
Have any of you had the same problem or have any ideas how to fix this? Should I send it to repair?
Another question, is it possible to make the CPU run max speed all the time? It is not possible to change this in the BIOS and don't know how to change it, it seems to go down to 800mzh all the time even when power is needed.
Acer Aspire SW5 012 :: Brightness Control Not Working
Dec 19, 2014I have had this tablet for less than one week. Under settings in windows 8.1 modern interface is a control slider for the screen brightness. it does not appear to do anything. I would like to be able to change screen brightness suit my needs, but I cannot make this work. What settings I need to change or maybe software I need to update? There is one Acer driver update which does not load properly and always says fail. I believe it has to do with screen settings. Could that be the problem?

Oct 21, 2014I have an ACER Aspire R7 win8.1 and I have a problem with the touchscreen. The touchscreen is scrolling up and down by iself out of control, without touching it.
I run anti-virus and anti-malware and everything seems normal. I finally disable the touchscreen in system and everything is fine using the mouse.

Jun 29, 2009My laptop is an Acer Aspire 6935G with Intel C2D P8400 2.26GHz (1066MHz FSB) and 4GB DDR3 RAM. OS is Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
Under the memory tab in CPU-Z, the DRAM Frequency shows as 399MHz. However, the maximum bandwith for the memory under the SPD tab shows as 533MHz. If I'm correct this means my RAM is running at 800MHz instead of 1066MHz.
I've read other threads mentioning this problem and a solution was a BIOS update to v1.10. My current BIOS is v1.05, which has been on my laptop since new.
I've never updated a BIOS before and therefore reluctant in case anything goes wrong. The laptop is running fine with Vista.

Jan 27, 2014I have a Western Digital 1TB USB 3.0 external drive. I am connecting it to the correct (blue) USB 3.0 port on my Acer Aspire 5755-6647 laptop which runs Windows 7 x64.

Upon connection, I get the "This device can perform faster:Â This USB Mass Storage Device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a Super-Speed USB 3.0 port" message. When copying files off the drive, I get about 32 MB/s, which corresponds to USB 2.0 speeds.

I have tried disabling USB power management in the USB 3.0 Host Controller Utility. I have tried uninstalling the device and reinstalling it. The cable I am using came with the drive and is a USB 3.0 cable. I have the newest Renesas USB 3.0 driver installed (2.0.34.0). I have also tried using an older Renesas driver. My BIOS is up to date (P5WE0121).

The first time I connected this drive to my laptop, it was on a USB 2.0 port (I had for some reason misremembered which side of the laptop had the 3.0 port and didn't check for blue). As I said, though, I've uninstalled the device completely. I suspect that Windows may be "remembering" the device and installing it with the 2.0 driver.
Acer Aspire E5-511P :: Password Control Can Be Changed In BIOS?
Jan 8, 2015Acer manual suggested password control can be changed in BIOS. I have Aspire E5-511P. The security page in BIOS does not work. I can scroll with arrows in other pages but nothing happens on Security page. Password at boot has Disabled but every boot asks for password. Is there a repair for BIOS? Also, the Support page on this site does not recognise my model of Aspire.

Jan 31, 2015I'm on Windows 7Â 64 bit and the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery device is causing my Aspire E5-551 to freeze. If I enable the device and I try to run my laptop on battery it freezes, but when it's disabled I can run on battery perfectly fine.
Now I don't mind having it disabled since it fixes the problem but when I disable it then I have no way of telling how much is left of my battery.
This is a brand new laptop, a little over a month old so I haven't done any damage to it. I sent it in to get fixed but when I received it back from the Acer repair center all they did was re-install windows which did actually fix the problem for about a week but the problem came back.

Even when i switch to that has brightness set to like 80% nothing happens. I went to maxium preformace profile and for some reason it is set to 0% when I change it to 100% and hit apply 2 seconds later it changes back to 0%.
Out side of windows(ie the login screen) I can change my brightness to 100% and it will stay there it's when I login it reverts to 0%.
