Today my speakers on my laptop started cracking so I plugged in the headphones to see if it made the same noises with them and it did so I figured it was just a driver problem.
I reinstalled the Realtek HD driver twice but I still have the same problem. The speakers worked fine this morning but after moving home from university this afternoon they've started cracking.
I bought an xps 1340 and just received it. I was streaming some music off youtube today and my left speaker was cracking when playing the song Roses by outkast.
I played the exact same video on my desktop and it played without any problems.
I called dell and they had me play a cd (don't have an outkast cd) and the speakers seemed to play fine. Once i played the CD, the dell representative just told me it is a software issue. But how could a software issue only affect 1 speaker(the left one)?
yesterday I received my XPS 16. Nice machine, BUT: the cracking speakers / subwoofer is hard to accept.
I mainly listen to trance / techno music and the cracking noise is just there. Is there any patch or whatsoever? It's horrible ;/
I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6119tx Entertainment Notebook PC. There is a sparking/cracking type of Noise during Startup & sometimes during usage,which makes it too irritating to listen to songs or other things. My Audio drivers are upto date,tried installing & uninstalling them but of no luck....

Fair warning to all owners. 4 gb's of memory is sweet only problem is that the newest bios version(1.20) will not support lil know boot into bio's. If you are planning to upgrade your memory make sure you have bios version 1.19 installed. Or your system will not boot. Not only does version 1.20 not support the 4 gb's , it also drops the max memory setting for your video to 128. ( versus 256 mb in ver 1.19). After installing yor memory make sure to d/l SP1 for vista. It may not use all the available memory but it will at least show 4 gb's in windows..
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 1 year and 10 month old Acer Aspire 9300 laptop and the motherboard recently bit the dust. My retailer in Gananoque Ontario could not find a replacement. I called Acer which took forever to get to someplace where I could leave a message. I received no reply. After you've called once it's impossible to call again. I guess their answering machine recognizes my phone number and then asks questions that makes it impossible to get through. I sent a detailed explanation of my problem by email 3 times asking a few simple questions, the most important being 1) where can I send the laptop to be repaired? 2) do you sell replacement motherboards and if so how can I buy one? Am I asking too much or getting too technical for them? I've been trying for several weeks now to contact Acer to no avail. What kind of an idiot company is this? A techie put me onto a company called Grand Tech in Richmond Hill Ontario that can replace the motherboard on an exchange basis but the replacement will likely be a repaired one.
Someone told me that the problem I have with the motherboard is common and it is because the solder used at least when mine was made was of poor quality. I hope that problem has been resolved. I'm afraid a repaired replacement my have the same problem. Some people just say to trash it and get a new on which I did. I bought a Dell Inspiron 17 which is supposed to arrive on Nov 11. I would however like to repair the Acer if it can be done cheaply and use it to replace my 8 year old PC in the rec room.
my acer aspire 9300 switched off on me tonight, the power button lights up and i can feel air from the side heat exhaust, but nothing eles,and the same thing happens just on battery without the power lead plugged in.

I've searched around and it seems to be a driver issue but I've updated to the the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers and it still crackles. I'm just wondering if people with the same laptop have similar issues while listening to music or my laptop is faulty.

I've had this aspire 7720-6381 for about a week and a half now. I've been very satisfied, and have even been content with the mediocre laptop speakers it contains. I wasn't expecting much in that realm anyways.
The problem I have is that periodically the speakers will make an annoying clicking noise. It's pretty sucky. Even worse, after a time all sound will screw up and a deathly fuzzy roaring sound is all that is heard.
I have an Acer Aspire 7720G which has a Nvidia GeForce 9300M G 256MB graphics card.
Other specs - Core 2 Duo T5750 (2.0 Ghz), 3Gb Ram 667MHz
I've installed a clean version of Vista Ultimate but it doesn't recognise that there's a graphics card present. I've tried to instal the drivers from the Nvidia website but it aborts because it can't find the hardware.
I've also tried installing Vista SP1 but still no avail.
For some reason when connecting to my UE Boom speakers, the sound volume is about 70% as loud as when playing from any of my other devices, such as my HTC One or my wifes Ipad. I have checked all the settings, volume is maxed out at 100%. I have reinstalled the latest drivers for both the bluetooth and the audio device:
Blueooth_Atheros_8.0.0000.0228_w8x64_a & Audio_Realtek_6.0.1.7027_w81x64_A.
I did find a setting under manage audio devices >> sound >> communication tab, that lowers the sound by 80%. But I disabled this feature and it only seems to be linked to the internal speakers.
It also seems like I have issues at times trying to connect to my bluetooth speakers, but not always.
I just bought a new Acer E5 571 with Windows 8.1 The laptop paired to my bluetooth speaker quickly and with no problem.
However the next time I turned on my laptop it showed as bluetooth device paired when it wasn't. iTunes only played through the laptop speaker and I have to disconnect and re-pair the bluetooth and deactivate the laptop speaker to get iTunes to play through bluetooth every time.
Is this a recognised fault or some incompatibility between my laptop and LG bluetooth soundbar?
I got a new used laptop but there is no sound at all, the earphone jacks don't work nor the speakers. The mouse pad does not work well either, and, I cannot use my Logitech mouse via. usb port? I am getting ready to re-install because I though this might solve the problem. I tried installing some drivers for AC97 Sound Controller but that did not work either. The drivers would not install, then I uninstalled AC97 in Add-Remove Programs by accident, I was trying to Update it. Then I installed another AC97 from download.net. After this I tried again to Remove and re-install a newer driver but it would not uninstall or install.

I've loved the notebook to this point, but now the speakers have quit working completely (the headphone jack still works). I called tech support and they had me delete and reinstall the driver (Realtech high definition audio), which made no difference.
She then told me the next step is to refresh my Windows installation, which will apparently blow away everything I've installed since it was new. I declined to do that because I really don't want to spend an entire day reinstalling all the programs, even though I have the data backed up. Is this truly the only way to make a final determination if it's a hardware or software problem?

a piece of plastic broke off the edge of my mac keyboard a couple of months ago and now there is like a small hole(?) on the left side...I am way past my warranty....is this a common defect or something?

I've cracked my bloody display bezel twice now and noticed it. I first thought it was my laptop bag and got a new one but now the screen bezel is cracked again too!
This happens on the screen bezel that is made out of plastic and right in the lower corners.
Does anyone have this problem besides me?
My 9300 just stopped working and the power supply blinks when plugged in to the laptop but is constant when not connected to the laptop. I'm thinking it's not the power supply because of this.
I have trier removing the battery, holding in the power for 30 seconds, powering up with the battery out etc. I'm don't think it is the battery either
I have also searched the forum but can't find anything that is similar. I did see a page on the net that said it may be a short on the motherboard but it was talking about dells.
It is sitting beside my bed and last night every 10 seconds it made 4 light clicking sounds that lasted in total about 1 second.
I don't remember when it started but my sound cracks and pops when I play games (NBA 2K10, WoW...) and sometimes when I'm watching youtube videos. However, it's fine when I just play a song on iTunes. Well actually, it pops a bit when I first start the song, but then the popping disappears, which leads me to think that the problem is somehow related to CPU/GPU usage.
So I've been on the web for quite a while now trying to find solutions...and here's what I've tried:
1) Using headphones (sound pops in headphones as well)
2) Turning off the wireless adapter (sound still pops with wireless off)
3) Disabling all enhancements under "playback devices" (still pops)
4) Checking IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers for Ultra DMA mode (got 4 ATA Channels, ATA Channel 0 is in Ultra DMA Mode 6, ATA Channel 1 is in Ultra DMA Mode 5, ATA Channels 4 and 5 are not in any mode)
5) Updating IDT High Definition Audio driver (updated, still pops; read somewhere that rolling back the driver would solve the problem, but at that point I've already reinstalled a newer IDT HD audio driver, which means I can't roll back to the desired date...)
6) Tried using a different HD audio driver (tried downloading a realtek HD audio driver, but I guess realtek = IDT?? same problem occurred)
6a) Eventually found some HD audio driver for some HP laptop (driver is now called High Definition Audio Device (under device manager => sound, video and game controllers))(sound still pops)

My screen makes a lot of noise and it is driving me absolutely NUTS. Whenever I move or the screen wiggles it makes this clicking sound near the hinges.
I have completely removed the bezel and looked for anything that might be the culprit
Bought a latitude E6400 a few weeks ago. Every now and again a loud cracking noise can be heard somewhere around the left side of the keyboard. This happens very infrrequently, about 10 times since I have had it.
Before I ring Dell has anyone come across this before?
The noise is like a crack and then a smaller click Sounds like a small peice of plastic just broke or something.
The laptop could be sitting there doing nothing for 20 mins and then the noise happens.

I was trying to play a video and the computer froze. I waited several minutes and nothing responded. I finally had to hold the power button to shut it down. Now it will not go to the bios screen and the screen shows a bit of brightening but does not go anywhere.
I've googled for a solution and there are several pieces of possible solutions I have found but as is too often the case, there were no follow up answers to make the posts helpful or, the answers came tantalizingly close like the following for a similar problem with an acer aspire 5315:
"1. first download the attached zip file and unzip it.
2. burn the extracted disc image to disc using nero.
3. place the newly burned cd into your laptop cd drive tray
4. remove the battery and power cord.
5. press and hold FN and ESC keep pressed and insert power cord and then press the power on button
6. your notebook should power up but without any display.
7. you should see the cd/dvd drive activity light blinking as it reads from the recovery disc.
8. if all is well your laptop should power itself down after about 2 minutes
9. once it has powered down remove the power cord and wait about five minutes.
10. finally insert your battery and power cord and power up your laptop in the normal way............
The sound quality from my 6935g is terrible in XP. Vista is fine though. I've tried reinstalling the realtek HD drivers but its still the same. Is there anyting else i need to install? I've tried looking to see if there is an acer HD audio manager for XP had no luck.
View 5 Replies View RelatedYou can hear this effect around 60%-80%+ volume(varies by system) usually from the right speaker(more noticeable). It sounds like a speaker when its damaged from high volume or a bad amp you hear a buzzing/cracking/distortion sound on the right speaker usually(you can also verify it with the dell audio diagnostic, test my Dell technician even realized it). Ive had 3 xps's replaced(due to other issues) all of them had the same problem (additionally I had 2 speaker replacements and they had the same problem). sxps 1640 and 1645. I remember when a technician came and opened my motherboard I took a look at the side speakers. It seems that the right speakers are loose compared to the left ones. You can press on it and it goes a bit in and out.
I just wanted to start a new thread for Bill to bring this issue also to the attention of the engineers. I think I know what the problem is, I will be putting rubber pads in my laptop to enforce the speakers from vibrating. Someone brought this solution to my attention a long time ago.

Does anyone else have this problem? Verify so Bill can bring it to the attention of the engineers. Bills going to have big meeting with big players soon so post up if you do have this issue so he can bring it to the table. I didn't want to use the throttling thread for this issue.
My temporary solution is not to go about 60% volume... since it's load already but it would be nice to blast the volume and listen to music while doing other chores in the house or hang with friends but the audio quality is terrible.
Note: I can not verify this for sxps 1647 because I do not have one.
I will give you guys an update on my results, when I dampen the system with pads and reinforce it.
when I listen to music or watch movies for a while the sound gets all echoey and I have to close the program then re-open the file to fix it. What's wrong with the laptop?
I have the most current Realtek driver from Acer's site.
I got myself the Acer Aspire 5930G this past Sunday. I can also mention that my friend bought the exact same computer just a couple hours before, from the same store here in Stockholm, Sweden.
The problem now is that the built in speakers make a fizzing, or I don't know exactly how to describe it, sound, when I play a song for example. The sound became more obvious when having a voiceconversation through Msn with a friend and playing musicvideos on youtube.
Now, my friend appeared to have the same problems with his speaker, just slightly less obvious. It bugged me enough to make a trip back to the store in order to set things straight. Listening to the Demoex at the store, the speakers were even worse, so I just had to accept the fact that "speakers on laptops generally suck"...
I still can't though, and I'd like to know how you experience your built-in speakers, are they "crystal clear" no matter how high of a volume you play (75% and up)?
