I have an Aspire AO725. I can't get the 50mg upload/25mg download speeds that my other computers get on wifi.
Is there an update/upgrade for my Broadacom modem that I can get?
I was concerned about slow page loading speeds with this new laptop. I had done comparisons with this new laptop and my Toshiba satellite A70, 2.8Ghz Celery, 768MB RAM, Realtec RTL8/810x family Fast Ethenet NIC.
I was concerned enough that I booked a call with an ISP tech who was here today. He tried several download tests with a test site provided by the company and found that the new laptop was download/transfering data at around 200-400Kb/sec while the old laptop was getting download speeds of 1.6Mb/sec.
The AV programs and firewalls were disabled for each of the tests. Tried updating the driver on the new laptop but it had the newest driver available.
I deleted the driver and rebooted with no better results. I have an email out to Acer as of an hour or so ago and am awaiting a response from their tech.
I believe that there is a bad ethernet card/circuit in this laptop.
I have an acer 5920 and from day one the download speeds have not been above 15kbs this is wireless and wired, i have re-installed vista, changed the hdd and turned off protocol 6, none of these have helped,
I also have a 9304 aspire and have no problems with download speeds on this so i presume it is not the router
How can I put a Download and Upload meter on the top right task tray in Leopard OSX. Is there a utility or setting in OSX itself or is there a small application.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got an HP Pavilion g6-2260sh notebook with Windows 8.1 Pro operating system. My problem is that the internet download speed had fallen from 80 Mbits to 3-4 Mbits. The upload speed stayed the same as before, 25 Mbits. My notebook is connected to a router with another notebook and a PC. Those 2 computers have excellent internet speeds. I've reinstalled the operating system, but the issue still persists. After the reinstallation, the speed was fine for maybe an hour and then it dropped to 3-4. I only installed drivers from the hp driver finder, nothing else. I've tried the connection with cable and wi-fi with the same results. The device manager shows 1 Unknown device and 1 missing driver for Ralink_RT3290_Bluetooth_01
View 3 Replies View RelatedI already tried the general fix for this offered by a few folks on Youtube and other sites, where you remove the battery and then uninstall the battery/power drivers in Device Manager. Then turn off, put the battery back in and start up again, letting the drivers re-install afresh. But this did not solve the problem for me.
Acer forums do not list this battery charging issue for the AO725 model, but they do mention it for a couple of other models of netbooks, saying that the battery will not charge once it reaches a state of complete depletion. They instruct to update the BIOS.
i have an aspire one. AO725 is the model. my wireless internet driver went wacky when i updated to widows 8.1 and i re-installed the driver. a day later it is not connecting to the internet again.

THEN I tried downloading V1.8 from the european site and again, unzipped the files, looked everything over, and ran the application and got the same

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen updates are posted on Aspire Support Page my Aspire Switch 10 will not complete most downloads I attempt. It downloads anywhere from 60% to 95% of a particular download, then goes no further even though it indicates it is still downloading. I have left it in this "downloading" state for 10 minutes with no further progress. Of the few smaller zip files it did download completely, I got an error message of "Unspecified Error # 0x80004005" when it tried to unzip some of those.

I am stuck being tech support for my brother who is living in Torres Vedras, Portugal right now. He is having some problems with a pretty new Acer Aspire 5810TZ that was given to him around Christmas time. The computer had been used for about a month before he received it and had a few programs installed on it along with the usual bloatware. I cleaned up what I could before he left for Portugal again and installed AVG anti-virus, MS Office '07, and Windows 7.
Now that he is back in Portugal he is having problems with the things he uses most on the computer (Built in microphone not working, built in webcam only working randomly for a short amount of time, and DivX failing any time he tries to watch tv or movies online) I've walked him through updating all the drivers and reinstalling DivX, but nothing seems to fix these problems and Windows 7 is starting to look like more trouble than it is worth to him.
Main Question: Is there any way to restore the computer back to the way it was when first purchased (with Vista or 7, whichever will work) without the use of recovery discs (He does not have any with him over seas) in a way that is simple enough for me to relay to him?

I have an Aspire V5 -473P-5602. This is my 2nd unit as the first had issues that couldn't be fixed. Had this replacement for 2 months now and has been working great until recently. I'm hoping this is a minor thing, but I can't seem to find anything online about it.
Basically, sometimes when I turn on the computer it boots into the "insydeh20" screen. Not every time but enough to be annoying to me. The computer is pretty much as is when I got it new. No 3rd party apps, nothing modified etc etc.
Again, except for installing Windows updates nothing on the computer has been changed. Sometimes when I start the computer I hear a clicking sound ( one click) Seems it makes the noise when there is a Microsft update available. Normal?? Never did it before...
I bought an Acer Aspire V/-582PG 15,6" HD touch a month ago. Today I was playing games with a couple of friends when the screen suddenly turned white. I could still hear the game music and could talk to my friends on mumble. I tried to put the computer to sleep and turn it on again, but the screen was still bright white. I then tried to shut it down and start it again; the screen was still white.
I then connected it to my tv using hdmi. This enabled me to see the Windows login screen. Shortly after I logged in to Windows, the computer shut down. Now i can't start it and none of the lights on the computer are on.
I'm trying to use the laptop as a hot spot for my Wifi Ipad to draw from. I'm using currently a Telstra USB Dongle on the laptop.

I have an eMachines EM250 (mechanically identical to the AO D250) and I can not for the life of me figure out what the small card slot on the bottom of the computer is. I know the memory slot and the HDD slot but the third slot is a mystery. I think it is a mini-PCI slot for a solid state memory module but I'd like to find a definitive answer before I go any further.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had my notebook evaluated by a local technician who told me the trouble I was experiencing was due to the DVD disc not recognizing and communicating with the computer. Upon further investigation she determined that the drive did read and play audio just fine. Video and graphics (pictures) would not play on the drive. Her conclusion was that the drive had a defect of some sort related to the DVD function only.
I have two questions.
1. Could it be that the ROM is corrupt and can that be replaced?
2. IF I have to replace the drive can I do that myself or do I have to have a professional do it??
I Recently purchased an Acer Aspire One D257 - 13473 with mfg. date 2011/07/04 pre-owned at a garage sale. it had a dead hard drive when i purchased it, which was not a huge issue, and i replaced it.
then i was severely disappointed.
I went to try and configure this computer for my own use, but turns out there's (what im assuming to be a BIOS password, since the HDD has been replaced) a password to access the F2 SETUP Menu on this machine. i was really hoping that since I've already upgraded the RAM and replaced the hard drive that i could get this machine actually functionable again.
