Couple questions - I'm leaning towards an M2400 but prefer the M4400 as long as it can fit in my existing Zero Halliburton briefcase.
The interior dimensions of the case are 16" wide x 11" deep.
Currently, it fits my M70, with the AC adaptor & bluetooth mouse on the right side. As far as the batteries on the M4400 - will the 9 cell extended battery fit in my existing 11" deep case?
Also, what's the standard AC adaptor for the M4400? Will the 90w adaptors work with the E-Port?
I have a couple extra 90w adaptors for my M70 (D series) that would hopefully work with the M4400 and/or E-Port.
Lastly - I realize there's no S-Video out port on the M4400/E-series.
How would I output video to my (non hdmi) TV? Is there some sort of cable adapter available from Dell that would convert a video signal from the M4400 to either the S-Video input or the yellow video RCA jack on my TV?
Currently I use the Dell S-video to video (yellow) adaptor cable.
User pros & cons on the LED versus LCD screen?
Does the webcam on the LED have a lower resolution than the LCD webcam?
Lastly - who makes the 320GB 7200rpm FFS drive? Hopefully Western Digital.
I can't put my MBP in to Sleep mode when DVD,or usb CDMA modem connected. It just turns on after few minutes. Is there any way to get normal Sleep mode without disconnecting USB devices?
Few weeks ago I brought the WD blue 640GB, and lately swapped it out and put the old Hard drive back in because the WD was making too much noises. AFter I putting the old one back in here, the OS X starts running at the temperature of 56-58 degree C. The CPU is also running something such that it's used percentage is jumping around 10% and 20 % constantly. I start using it right now, and the upper left corner is getting warmer without running any significant job.
I've been using it since the first day and I have to say I like it. Though, as soon as I could I changed the address bar so that it used the original blue progress indicator instead of the stupid spinner. That was a mistake, IMO, getting rid of the blue progress indicator. Thankfully you can edit the preferences file to get it back.
I've had my MBP since 1 week now, and I've been using it a lot. At first, the startup time was around 35 seconds, but recently I have noticed that the blue screen at the end of the startup process is staying for much longer than it should (around 8 seconds).
I have tried:
-Repairing Disk with the Disk Utility and the Leopard DVD -Repairing Permissions -Defragmenting (3rd party software) -Deleting the ApplicationEnhancement.bundle file using [command-S] -Deleting preference files of uninstalled programs.
But nothing worked. The blue screen still lasts 8 seconds and the pointer appears at the top left corner. The startup time is now 50 seconds, which is about the same as Windows and I don't want that.
I fitted the above HD into my Macbook Pro unibody a fair few months ago and it generally works great, I was even more impressed at how easy it was to install as I'm by no means a computer expert!
Anyway, the one niggle I have is that my Pro is running hotter, so much so that instead of a niggle I am a little worried.
It seems to be worse when I am running programs with the Apple OS but also using Windows XP with Fusion. The heat is a worry but the noise of the fans is just plain annoying. Prior to fitting this hard drive I never heard a peep out of the stock 250GB drive, either from the fans or the drive itself (as an aside, I can hear the new drive, but its quiet and not a problem). Likewise, it never seemed to get hot.
What confuses me is that the heat doesn't come from the area where the drive is. As you look at your laptop during normal use, the hot part is to the rear left of the base (i.e. the keyboard part).
I notice that Apple have 500GB drives available as an option on Macbook Pros now, does anyone know what make these could be? Also, does anyone have any experience with these yet?
I have this mac ibook4 that keeps giving me a blue screen, when i ever it's powered on i need to know what is really causing that. i just doesn't respond to anything and some times the screen blinks.
I have the latest version of Adium download on my new Macbook Pro but for some reason my Display Picture Icon only shows the Blue/Green MSN Buddy on the other end of the party.
The other party cannot see my Icon Picture of which I have set in my preferences.
Anyone else have this problem or know how to resolve it? I use MSN Messenger.
I got the blue of death in VMware fusion with windows vista ultimate,I think "Defender" did it, every time I go to the vmware to start windows the blue screen shows up, anyway around this ? I can't do any safe modes or last good configs.
I am a macbook user who had my first OS X blue screen. So I installed a new canon printer today, updated ilife 08 to ilife 09(I discovered that the ilife that preinstalled was 08 and the disk that came with macbook was ilife 09, suprise ), and was about to do some software update.
After the software update program checked that there were 6 new updates, it then freeze, and result in slowing other softwares. Then I figured out there is a force quit in apple menu, so I used it and restarted the system. But after the screen turned into blue, it wouldn't respond any more. So I stared at the blue screen for about a minute, and realized that Mac does crash and has blue screen
After anther one minute of waiting, I pushed down the power button and forced the computer to shut down( something I learned from my old Fujitsu laptop, it is one tough laptop, and it lasts for over 8 years already, and still running).
After the computer was restarted, I launched upgrade again, and this time nothing happened. Then I figured out there is something called disk utility that I can use to check the disk, and after the disk permission check, it came back with many permission changes for the canon printer program and some other programs, so I repaired them.
i installed xp on my dv5t however i still have 2 unknown devices in my device manager one of them is something about a keyboard it's confusing and when i log on to windows i always get the found new device window..... i also wanna ask you guys how can i make my bluetooth work in xp (since the software is only supported in vista) i also want to ask you guys (who installed xp on dv5t) , did anyone noticed that the sound only come out from the center of the speaker? i mean that the speaker is big (from the right end to the left end of the laptop) but the sound seem to come out only from the center part (wich wasn't happening in vista),
I got XPS 15 (9530, Late 2013) couple of days ago with widnows 8.1 installed on it and since the day 1 I am running into a weird problem. All of my USB devices keeps disconnecting. Whether its my phone (HTC One M8) or my portable harddisks. I have tried multiple cables and the result is the same.
I tried connecting all of those devices on different laptops and they work fine except for my laptop. One more thing is that if I have my phone connected with the laptop, it charges fine however, I am unable to browse any file on my phone because it keeps disconnecting.
I have three usb ports, and none of them seem to be working. Although the devices work on my roommate's laptop, they are not recognized on mine. When I plug my flashdrive into hers, it lights up, but that doesn't happen on mine. I recently reset my computer to factory settings to try and fix other issues including the problem with the usb ports, but the usb devices are still not recognized.
I recently sent in my laptop due to problems of it not being able to turn on, and my battery and a/c adapter were replaced. I was quite happy. However, I do not want to send it back in even though it is under warranty. Since I am a college student, I really need my laptop. If nothing works, I'll send it back in over winter break so I'm not without a laptop during my studies.
My touchscreen is also not working, so how to fix that, here is my other post: [URL] ...
My M1730 cant boot to Vista. It says in red FAILED. Also says It cant find any bootable devices. I did do the test (The one where you press F8 I think) more than once.
I just got my Windows Vista Home Premium OEM disc from Newegg today, I left my original dell one in storage back in NY. It can boot from the disc, but it cant repair my laptop. So is the HDD dead or what? =/
I have a problem, which seems to be a common problem with Win 7 and bluetooth but I have been searching the far reaches of th einternet for 4 hours no with no luck.
My laptop finds the bluetooth hardware and installs drivers automatically, and says it is working correctly, but it cannot find any devices, it just says "searching" and never finds anything.
My XPS m-1530 is running XP-Pro, clean-installed via instructions on this forum. It runs perfectly . . . except for one thing.
Every once in a while, especially in the middle of a lengthy download, everything stops and the screen goes right to this message: No bootable devices found.
Error Code 2000-0141. This used to happen very infrequently, but now it is more often and scary. I have removed and reseated the HD twice.
I have a 6930G and I'm trying to figure out how to disable a hard drive in my BIOs. The instructions on the side say to press SHIFT+1 to disable or re-enable a device. But when I press it nothing happens.
I have had a HP dv5z w/ windows Vista Home Premium - 64 bit for two days now.
1) I have a wired USB mouse that I use since the touchpad is terrible. But everytime, I plug in this supposedley plug and play mouse, there is a message that says device driver is being installed and it takes a few moments before the mouse can be recognized. Is this normal?
2) Also, the day i got my laptop, i had to download Windows updates (the automated message on the control panel said so!) and installed them. I am not sure if its related but since then i have re started my laptop 2-3 times and there is a file check process that happens as a part of the start up and then just before the welcome screen comes, i get a message Step 1 of 3 - Configuring Updates - Do not shut down your computer.
How long is this going to happen and is this normal?

I cannot get certain types of audio output through either my headphones or my onboard speakers, even though all of my speakers are functioning correctly.
My headphones are connected through a USB device and my speakers are built into the laptop. Things that will play are System Sounds, Audio Configuration Tests, and the occasional youtube video for a reason I cannot identify.
Beyond that, there is no sound output. However, I have confirmed that both my onboard speakers and my headphones are working correctly.
I have performed a reboot, am in the middle of a malware scan, and checked all of my volume controls to make sure nothing has been accidentally muted. I still have yet to try uninstalling the driver and a system restore.
The only thing that changed on my PC before the problem occurred was connecting it to a TV via HDMI cable. In that instance, all audio was correctly rerouted to the TV speakers.
I keep getting USB Device not recognized on all USB ports on my laptop.
I am running Windows 7 (recently did a restore to clean up computer) service pack 1.
I refreshed the BIOS I tried deleting all drivers, shutting down, taking out the battery and restarting I tried refreshing all USB drivers I tried adjusting the power settings to ensure that all power save mode on USB devices was disabled
Still no luck. Once in a while I can plug something in and it will work for a bit then it becomes disconnected. I think this might be a hardward problem as no software intervention has worked.
I am now reinstalling my laptop (HP Pavilion 14-v044tx Notebook PC) with new Windows 8.1 x64, where most of the drivers are installed, I am left clueless with these two.
