I did a fresh reinstall of Win 7 and installed the following programs/drivers from the Dell resource disk:
Intel Chipset Drivers
Intel Turbo Boost Technology
Synaptic Touchpad
Dell Wireless Mini - Card
ATI Catalyst Video Drivers
IDT Audio Codec
SB X-Fi software
Broadcom Network drivers
Dell Quickset
Dell Webcam software
Dell 370 bluetooth software
After a fresh install of Win 7 Pro 64bit, I'm not able to get the drivers installed for the 2 3.0 USB ports on the left hand side of this laptop. I did install the chipset, which is supposed to include the drivers for those ports, as the first driver installed after the fresh install of Win 7 but it doesn’t seem to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased the HP ENVY m6-n113dx laptop from Best Buy and a 240gb SATA III SSD. When I re-installed the OS from a previous license that I owned for Windows 8.1 Pro x64, I could no longer get the Bluetooth radio working. The Qualcomm Drivers work great, or at least Windows doesn't find anything wrong with them. I did not format the original hard drive that came with the laptop so I replaced it to see if the bluetooth radio was working on a previous Windows 8.1 installation to find that it works great.
The drivers that were installed on the working OS are the same drivers as the replacement OS. The radio works with the previous OS, but not with the new OS. The only difference that I can tell is in the BIOS settings where I disabled the "Security" option regarding the HP Secure Keys.
I am pretty sure I just don't have the right drivers. I installed the Renesas drivers from the HP downloads page but they didn't solve the issue(so I uninstalled them).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a hp envy m6 sleekbook model. anyways ever since I installed windows 8.1 fresh my touchpad wont work to a point. Ill install the driver and it works fine till I shutdown the laptop and restart it. Im pretty sure the driver is auto updating and not working correctly.

I am in the process of downgrading an HP 15-g013dx (J5T33UA) laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7. This is a quad-core AMD A8 APU system.
I am having trouble with USB 2.0 devices not being recognized by the hardware. I have all the devices installed in device manager, but the computer will not detect USB 2.0 devices.
It will recognize USB 3.0 devices just fine when they are plugged into the USB 3.0 port, but neither of the USB 2.0 ports. USB 2.0 devices won't work in any port. I can't confirm USB 1.1 devices at this time.
CMOS setup is set to Legacy mode: Disable.
Is there an additional driver or configuration that I am missing, or is there another issue going on?
I can't get my Yoga to recognise any BT devices. I have driver version 1.3.639.3 dated 1/9/2012. I downloaded an update otwb33ww.exe version 3.757.754.082313 but when I install it, I get eventually get a dialog saying "Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled on your system. Plug in your device and click 'OK'. I switch on my BT headphones, click OK and get a message saying "Reeltek Bluetooth is not installed on your system". Then have to restart and end up back with the old drivers.
Just noticed I can connect to my iPhone but still not my Plantronics headphones...
Instal windows 7 on my hp. usb , network, wifi and some other devics are not working ! cant find drivers !
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had been using my DVD/Bluray drive but after a reinstall of windows 7 I am not able to access the DVD / Bluray drive. or rather I am able to access it after re-installing the driver and then after I take out the disk in the drive again the drive becomes unrecongnizeable
I reinstalled the firmware PLDS DS-6E2SH 12.7 Tray BD-Combo Firmware Update(SE2_CD11.zip ) from Dell support site but this did not work.
The only way I can get it to work is by uninstalling the device, rebooting and when it starts up again, it reinstall the driver and the drive works. A thing to note is that this also does not work every time.
After reinstalling Windows on my mother's 3000 WLMi, everything works as expected, except there is no sound. I have tried installing drivers off the Acer website, and checking all the sound controls, but to no avail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Biometric Fingerprint device on my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop is not working. I get the message:
1. The Fingerprint reader is not detected (during start up prior to logging in).
2. Windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer ( when I checked via Control Panel).
I went into this challenge when I reinstalled my windows 7 o/s after I realised I had some corrupted files and so could not install an HP printer on my computer. Unfortunately I did not have the original restoration file so I had to do reformating and reinstallation of the o/s.
My O/S is Windows 7 ultimate.
I have a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14t-k000 CTO Ultrabook. It just went out of warranty a month or so ago but started blue-screening rigth after that - I had to reinstall Windows 8.1.
Since the install, my wifi has not been working properly. (I can use an Ethernet cable without a problem.) Sometimes it will say the wifi is connected with full bars, but then I get a "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET" when I try to pull up any browser and nothing will load. Other times it just won't connect at all. The weird thing is that 5% of the time it will work fine, and I'll be able to use wifi no problem for a couple hours at a time.
What could possibly be going on? Is it a driver issue? Should I get a new network adapter? Is it a settings issue?
I just did a fresh install of Vista Home Premium 64 Bit following Orev's guide. I backed up the SWSetup folder and everything went fine except a couple of things:
1.) Quickplay. I don't have the QPW & HPQPDP folders in the SWSetup folder. Does quickplay still come with DV4T's or is HP using something new? Do I need to install some other program or driver from SWSetup to get quickplay to work? Should I not even worry about it and just another player?
2.) Recovery Partition. I followed a link in another post, here at NBR, to HP's site telling me how to add quickplay from the recovery partition of the hdd. I can see the recovery partition but when I try to access it, it says it's empty. Is it possible to access it through explorer or do I have to boot from it? When I did the fresh install, I just reformated partition 1, the one with vista on it already and did nothing to the recovery partition. Is this correct?
3.) Bluetooth. After I installed bluetooth and only after the internet connection is established, the icon pops up on the system tray even though I disabled it in the startup menu and told it in the bluetooth program itself not to display the icon. Also, when the computer first boots up, it tells me bluetooth couldn't connect because of a .dll file that is missing?
4.) Scroll Slider on Touchpad. I disabled alot of things in the startup menu and now the scroll slider doesn't work. Obviously it's because of the things I disabled, but why would disabling it from startup cause it not to work? The touchpad still works fine. I followed some things in this thread and everything here. Could any of this affect the scroll slider?
5.) Recovery Manager. What happened to the recovery manager that came factory installed? Is that in the SWSetup folder?
6.) Drivers. Should I follow this thread and update all the drivers since they are all new compared to what is in my SWSetup folder?
My new DV7t Quad should be coming on Friday. Right now it is stuck in China, but I was wondering. Would it be better to keep the Windows 7 that they have install on the computer, or should I do a clean install? Right now, I have Windows 7 Ultimate running my old laptop, however, I only the disk for the 32 bit. While my Quad will be a 64 bit.
So if it would be a benefit to do a clean install, could someone explain how to do it without having a new windows 7 disk. I did order the system restore disks from HP when I bought the computer.
i installed a new copy of vista(ultimate) on my HP laptop.
what all drivers do i need to install?
i installed
graphics
audio
network
touch pad
quick launch
intel matrix store manager
intel flash cache logic chip driver
hp software update
hp active support library
besides these am i missing any important drivers that are need to be installed compulsarly?
Just purchased... haven't received yet.... rather than try and clean up the existing system... I plan on installing a fresh windows 7 OEM.
Are there any problems to expect that those who have preceded me could help with?
1. Do you recommend installing windows and then updating all current drivers from HP's site or get the latest available?
I've always enjoyed running drivers without bugs more than try to eek out a little more performance and put up with bugs. This computer is going to be far faster than anything I need anyway..... so I prefer stable bugless drivers!
I currently own a ZV6000 and I learned not to trust Microsofts drivers or even some of the manufacturers drivers for that matter as the one from the HP site are the only ones proven to be bugless... is that still the case with the dv8t?
2. Previously with XP I have done a total reinstall and found much better performance than trying to clean the existing bloatware.
I've read some folks can't tell the difference.
I"m feverishly reading as much as I can to offset any mistakes I'll regret.
3. Should I try and use my existing OEM serial number than came with my computer or is that considered used already?..... just thought if I could use it, I could save the OEM serial that comes with my new purchase of windows 7 OEM so I can install later on another computer.
I"ve technically paid for two licenses.... just don't know how that will all work and I really don't want to fuss with all the bloatware, easier for me to spend the cash.
I just want to get the system totally installed and up and running with no device manager errors and all working.. then I can worry about tweaking further.
The touchpad on my Inspiron 15 stopped working this morning. I have a mouse plugged in and that seems to work but I'd like to get my touchpad working again. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the touch pad drivers but it won't allow the driver to reinstall.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi installed xp on my dv5t however i still have 2 unknown devices in my device manager
one of them is something about a keyboard it's confusing and when i log on to windows i always get the found new device window..... i also wanna ask you guys how can i make my bluetooth work in xp (since the software is only supported in vista) i also want to ask you guys (who installed xp on dv5t) , did anyone noticed that the sound only come out from the center of the speaker? i mean that the speaker is big (from the right end to the left end of the laptop) but the sound seem to come out only from the center part (wich wasn't happening in vista),
I just got my new dv3 and want to to reformat the machine and install Vista afresh to get rid of all the bloatware. I've burned my recovery disks using the HP Recovery Manager. I've also read through the "Clean Vista Install with no activation" thread here.
My question is this: what happens after I install a fresh copy of Vista? Do I need to download all the required HP drivers? Where can I get some of the software that comes preloaded on the machine like HP Mediasmart and Wireless Assistant etc? Does anyone have a list of all the software that comes preinstalled on the dv3? I'd like to be able to get some things installed like mediasmart (and anything else that might actually be useful and is not junk).
just picked up a new DV7-1270ca and did a clean install to Vista Ultimate 64B. I noticed that a few of the apps that were on the machine are missing and can't be downloaded? Can anyone tell me where to find these apps? I did make a set of recovery disks prior to deleting the recovery partition but they don't seem to contain files that are accessible unless one does a complete recovery...which kind of defeats the whole purpose of my intentions.
I notice that i don't have the control panel for my sound anymore. Not sure if this is related but i think since i can't individually configure my speakers without this application i notice some crackling sounds in movies i play which i am assuming to be because the subwoofer is set too high?
I am also missing complete functionality of the keys that reside directly above my keyboard. The keys work, but i notice i no longer see a visual screen confimation and get the clicking sound when i access them? The mute button should also turn amber when i mute the machine but it no longer does. I did check HP support but the only file they had was HP MediaSmart SmartMenu Update which is only an update according to the Readme. It states that i must first have HP MediaSmart SmartMenu installed for the update to work but HP does not supply a download link for this utility?
There are also a few other apps that i can't remember the name of that are missing i know.
Has anyone else done a clean installation?
I'm thinking about formating and installing fresh, I have read the Out-Of-Box guide. But I have a little doubt. After installing OS, which drivers do I need to install. I mean, like there are two drivers available under Graphics for my laptop(HP dv6-1387tx). Similarly, for other categories like Network, there are more than one drivers listed. Which one should I choose? Should I install all under the categories. Since, I selected the exact model, all should be applicable to my laptop. Here's the link to all drivers and softwares -

I have had a HP dv5z w/ windows Vista Home Premium - 64 bit for two days now.
1) I have a wired USB mouse that I use since the touchpad is terrible. But everytime, I plug in this supposedley plug and play mouse, there is a message that says device driver is being installed and it takes a few moments before the mouse can be recognized. Is this normal?
2) Also, the day i got my laptop, i had to download Windows updates (the automated message on the control panel said so!) and installed them. I am not sure if its related but since then i have re started my laptop 2-3 times and there is a file check process that happens as a part of the start up and then just before the welcome screen comes, i get a message
Step 1 of 3 - Configuring Updates - Do not shut down your computer.
How long is this going to happen and is this normal?
My Dell Vostro 3450 (windows 7) had been running slowly for a while and after a virus scan didn't work, I decided to reinstall my operating system. I used the OS reinstall disk that came with the computer and that seemed to work pretty well. However, when it came time to install the drivers, I hit a roadblock. I put in the drivers disk and tried to go through the list of what drivers to install first (DSS, then chipset, etc...) but each time I installed something, it didn't seem to do anything-- I would go through the whole process for each one, but the little check mark wouldn't appear next to it in the "My System" list.... See below:
My computer can't connect to the internet either by ethernet or wifi, and can only input info through the cd drive.
My wife has an HP DV6000 with Vista on it from the factory. We have talked about reinstalling Vista to get rid of all the other "junk" to put it nicely. I mentioned this to my brother-in-law and he said we don't want to reinstall Vista because HP puts so much on there to help users. If we reinstall Vista are we going to loose out on something HP gave us?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the dv9535nr and am dual booting Windows7 and XP Pro. I have tried and tried to get HP Quickplay working on at least one of these, perferably XP since 7 will be up in August. The problem is I finally got Quickplay and my TV tuner working (on Win 7), but it is the new 3.6 or 3.7 version of Quickplay which sucks. The window is buggy and the channels typed in overlay each other every time. I want the old Quickplay that I got with Vista originally. I have spent to much time on HP's site trying to resolve this.

I managed to create a Recovery Disc last night using the hard drive from the 6820s in an external caddy and accessed the Recovery CD creator that way.
But now I'm having a problem trying to reinstall Windows Vista as when I accessed the section concerning the complete format and reinstallation of Windows Vista; I got the following message:
Error 0x400 100130000 1002
If this issue continues, please contact HP Support.
how I can fix the problem that this message is referring to?
My laptop is a hp dv6000 with 32 bit vista home premium preinstalled from the store. I never upgraded a laptop before so I don't know what to expect. Are all vista preinstalled systems already activated and do they use the OEM key or the product key on the bottom of the laptop? Recently my original hard drive failed and had no other choice expect to upgrade to a new one. My laptop came with the windows anytime upgrade disc so I used that to clean install vista home premium. Would the user recovery discs work instead on a new empty hard drive? When it asks for the product key the first time, I entered it in using the key on the bottom of the laptop. After everything was complete it said "3 days until automatic activation" and had the OEM key listed, not the one on the bottom of the laptop. I reactivate again using the sticker on the bottom on the laptop and it said "windows is activated", but it still had the OEM key listed. Did I enter the right key both times? Would there be any difference using the OEM key instead? Now about the recovery discs, if the "swsetup" folder was deleted before creating the discs will it still be on the disc even though it's suppose to be a factory image? Will I get the recovery partition and quick play if I reinstall again?
