Dell :: Blue Grainy Screen
Oct 7, 2009I was wondering if anybody could help me. I have a m1530 and my LCD has this blue lines going down the screen majority of the time. However if I angle the LCD just right it goes back to normal.
It appears to be some kind of connection problem because (again) it does go back to normal after moving around the screen to that exact angle. Anybody have any suggestions? I have added comparison pics to this thread.
Please excuse the poor quality pics...i dunno why my camera did that. I just wanted to ask here first to see if I can open up the laptop and fix it bc I'd have to downgrade back to Vista before sending the laptop to Dell.
LG :: Is Your M1530 LG Screen Grainy?
May 14, 2009I was so happy to get an LG as my third screen in my M1530. Unfortunately, it is grainy. I told the technician everything was OK after he put it, because the difference between this screen and my previous screens is huge (much brighter and the grain is not THAT bad). But now, I'm more and more annoyed that I still don't have a screen without major flaws.
I'm starting this thread to know how many of LG screens are grainy and to decide if there is any point in calling Dell again.
If you answer Yes, please write what hardware ID you have.
I would also be glad if someone could tell me if I can tell the technician that I want the old screen after he already put the new one (in case it was worse).
Acer :: Aspire 6920G Red Tint/grainy Screen
Feb 25, 2010Been trolling around here for a while for great advice for my laptop but it seems that I've got a problem now.
While just doing everyday work my screen started showing a grainy/ red tint all over with slight adjustments of the screen angle, it's progressively gotten worse as now no angle at all will give the clear normal picture.
The machine itself is working fine and when I plug it into an external monitor the picture is perfect, it just seems to be occuring on the screen.
I was wondering if there was anything I could personally do to fix the problem as I don't really want to be shipping it to Acer at the moment as I'm out of the country for a while.

Jan 14, 2009I had a 1680x1050 Glossy LCD (SEC3350). I called up and Dell, jumped through the hoops and eventually had them send me a replacement LCD. I called the tech this morning and asked him who manufacturer was, he said LG..
I was ecstatic. In my excitement forgot to check that the sticker on the LCD infact said WXGA+ across the front.
Dell replaced my WSXGA+ screen with WXGA+
The screen quality itself is really good, but there are two things I'd like clarified before I place my replacement order again.
Dell :: XPS M1530 Grainy Blu Ray Playback
Oct 29, 2008I just received my XPS M1530 from the outlet here in the UK. So far I'm pretty happy with it, although I have had the AC adapter issue once or twice. Anyway, as I was setting the laptop up I tried playing a blu ray through Dell's media direct software. I was surprised to find that the playback was very grainy and noisy. Thinking it was the software, I installed Powerdvd 8 ultra and this also has the same problem. I've also downloaded the latest drivers for the 8600M GT and installed them but this doesn't seem to have helped at all.

Feb 21, 2009I was a happy owner of my XPS M1530 for almost 10 months in a row now. I had a luck and received M1530 with LG Philips LCD -what a joy.
Unfortunately LCD backlight started to dim out and I had to call Dell Czech for a replacement.
I requested to replace my faulty LCD with the same type (LG Philips) and CSR guy told me that's not a problem ordered one for me and the next day service man arrived. Replaced my faulty LCD no questions asked. Before he left I asked him if it is really LG Philips as I requested because the new one had quite less contrast and the viewing angle was also somehow diferent. We found out that the new one is manufactured by Optronics and is grainy.

Well I am not happy with this one, it is much worse LCD than LG was. Called to Dell asked for immediate replacement. CSR guy told me it is not possible as Dell does not quarantee ANYTHING - check out our terms of sale. Did you get WXGA+ 1440x900? If so then don't complain was his answer.
I requested to put into my CRM that I am not satisfied with the new one and that I feel cheated as I was promised LG LCD over the phone. CSR guy promised to pass this info to his supervisor and that he will call me back. Two days passed no-one called and I am gonna call them on Monday again .....

May 18, 2009an issue I have, regarding video playback. Whenever I watch a video file on my HP DV6T, the playback seems rather grainy.
The video playback seemed much more clearer of a picture on my dv5z, and I am wondering if it has to do with the resolution.
Could this be because of the 16" 1366x768 resolution?
All I want is to be able to watch my movies or video files FULL SCREEN, and in good video quality.
Dell :: Vostro Screen Wobbled/looseunable To Repair, Now Plastic Around Screen Is Loose
Nov 13, 2008I have a Vostro 1500, which I bought 10 months ago. About 3 months ago the screen became loose and wobbled about 10 degrees when computer was moved or if I was on the train and it went over bumps. I tightened the screws as advised but this did not have any real effect. Dell engineer came and replaced the back cover with new hinges, (as they though hinges may be broken/at fault but they were fine,) but some wobble was still noticable so he ordered a new base. He came today and took the screen out complete with all the screen casing out of the old base, and put it into the new base, but still wobbled, so just put it back in the old base as it wouldn't have cured the problem.
Now yesterday, after he put the new back cover on, he had to take the plastic around the front of the screen off. After he put it together I noticed that the screen is no longer flush with the plastic surround and it annoys me! Am I just being finicky/picky or should I ask them to fix it?

Jan 30, 2010Hi all, new person here. I did a search on LCD screens but can't find my problem anywhere.
Here's the background and problem:
Vostro 1500 with Chungwha 1280x800 screen that got cracked by my kids. I ordered a replacement screen from a company off Amazon.com that was highly rated. Got the screen and installed it. It is make by Chi Mei. When I powered up the computer I got 8 screens of start up and it was very dim. Once it went past the Windows start up screen everything went black. It would only continue to Windows screen, still showing 8 windows in safe mode. I hooked up the old screen and everything worked fine.
I contacted the company and they air expressed me another screen, which I received yesterday. Hooked it up and got the exact same problem, which leads me to believe it's the Dell that doesn't like it. I will try and attach some photos because I am at a loss.

Jan 24, 2009when i first got this laptop i noticed that the screen was distorted and there was red lines everywhere and the screen was shaking abit. so i contacted dell and they sent me a repair guy to fix it. he fixed it in about 15min by pulling apart the laptop and replugging in the screen. but now its happening again. so i think the thing that plugs in is loose or somethin. so what do u think i should do out of the following options.
1. open it myself and replug it (im a noob and will try remember best what he did)
2. get techinician to come in again (bothersome as i have school)
3. ask dell for a replacement laptop.

Dell :: I9300 Gfx Card Dead - Gives A Black Screen After The Xp Spalsh Screen
Feb 25, 2009I was browsing the internet a day ago and I was on a "COLLEGE" website so i know this is not due to a virus. At this time all of a suden my screen went black.
I powered the laptop off and turned it back on, The Dell logo appeared but the screen was fuzzy and had some "tearing" i dont really know what to call it but it doesnt look right. Kind of like an old VCR playing videos. The screen then whent black after the windows xp splash screen. The laptop still boots to windows but it does not display anything.
I booted into safe mode, everything functions correctly and the way it's supposed to. I then booted into VGA mode same thing everything functions and works the way it is supposed to. I also ran some virus scans just incase, nothing was found.
Whilist in safe mode i changed the resolution down to 800 x 600 and still no luck after booting in regular mode.
In VGA mode i tryed to change resolution and the screen displayed some blue fuzzy lines then whent black.
After this I booted back into safe mode and done severeral diffrent System Restores at diffrent dates. Still no luck
After going through all this I am assuming this is a GFX card problem. The laptop is about 3 years old and ive played games pretty hard on it ever since. The card has defenitly gone through some some stress. Can anyone confirm this?
I know that the i9300 sells for about 400 working, and i checked on ebay for a card that is a whopping 180 bucks. Id just assume buy a new laptop. Then sell the i9300 laptop for parts because everything else works fine. Or maybe buy the card swich it out and sell it for a price. Maybe there is a way to fix it i dont know. can anyone help?
Lastly, i thought i would add that when i check the bios the card is recognized and it displays all the correct info for the card. IS there a way to tell for 100% that the card is bad?

Dell :: Ghosting Screen Or Lower Resulotion Screen
Sep 5, 2009If you had the choice to choose either a Screen that has yellow ghosting, or a screen that has a lower resolution - which one would u go for?
Well I ordered a dell notebook with a 720p screen I believe that would be somewhere around 1330 x 780 - however I got a notebook with a 1600x900 screen.
The screen however has quite some yellow ghosting, which I can see for example when my charackter heals herself in oblivion. Or during fast youtube videos - especially changes between black and white, the white will have a yellow ghost following it..
Anyways, I believe if I want to get it replaced they will but the 720p screen inside.
So what are your recommendations? the ghosting is quite annoying..
would I notice a huge difference between the old and the new resolution?

Oct 13, 2009Long ago (A year ago lol) I bought the Gateway FX gaming notebook. It was a great PC and could not beat the price with the hardware and performance it offered, however the screen was really bad.
At first glance it wasn’t, 1080p res and good brightness level, but when I plugged in my old external LCD monitor to dual screen, I was floored. My 4 year old desktop LCD screen was almost better in every single way.
The Gateway’s colors were dull, muddy, and dark, no matter how much I recalibrated the screen, I could not get it to look anywhere as good when compared to my Samsung screen on my desk.

May 27, 2014I updated the BIOS to 2.26 a while ago and ever since then there's no on-screen indication of caps lock on/off, screen brightness or volume when I change it. Since it seemed to be affected by BIOS, I updated again to 2.27 just now, but the problem persists. I needed to update the Hotkeys Feature Integration by downloading the utility thingy from this page. Probably wasn't a BIOS thing after all.

I rarely use this machine but a couple of months ago I went to boot it up and found that I was not able to get past the Windows splash screen. Sometimes I don't even get the Windows splash screen, I just get a black screen. Rarely I get a Windows screen saying that it is diagnosing a system problem or something to that effect and I can even get to where it will allow me to do some Windows diagnostics but nothing ever comes of it and the process is extremely slow.

I called Lenovo, but of course my machine is out of waranty so the tech just gave me a few pointers and said I could send it in to the depo but the potential repair cost could range up to about 75% of what I paid for the machine in the first place. Anyways, after having me try a few things in the BIOS he suggested that it was likely the hard drive. I mistakenly thought from the time that I bought this machine that the OS was installed on the 24 GB SSD so I ordered a new SSD and swapped it in. This made no difference at all as I have now learned that the mSATA SSD drive is merely for cache to speed up booting.

I am afraid that this means the main HDD is at fault, and quite frankly, if I replace it I am going to do a fresh install of Windows 7. But I do have pictures and docs that I would like to salvage if possible.
Sony :: Parts Of The Screen Have Low Screen Resolution One Brand New Laptop
Apr 18, 2010I just bought a brand new Sony Vaio VPCF11M1E and I have the following problem:
Because in normal stand the screen is very small, I enlarged it to x150%. Everything becomes bigger, but the following parts are blurry and absolutely not sharp:
-Pop ups, of programs and of windows itself (like advanced settings of something and then a new windows pops up, that one is then totally blurry; you can read it, but it is not the good resolution)
-Google chrome (and with that, all the internet pages)
-The google chrome on the desktop is also very blurry, while all the others, are still sharp (after the enlargement by 150%)
I have tried everything (32 bits colours is on, cleartype is on). I also did a system restore to the first days I bought the laptop and then it was on 100% so the resolution was excellent, but then I put it on 150% and again, the parts I mentioned above, were blurry.
