I use Dell Inspiron 1427, suport Virtualization technology. But I can't turn on it. I find it on Bios setup, but I don't find.
Version bios: A02 with SLIC 2.1
How to turn on Virtualization technology on Inspiron 1427 (Dell - Phoenix Bios).
Since 2 years ago, I owned an Acer Aspire 9420. It is a 17" laptop with Intel CPU (Intel C2D T5600). According to Intel website, T5600 processor have Intel Virtualization Technology. However, for unknown reason, there is no option to turn ON Virtualization in the BIOS. Even Acer doesn't provide BIOS update that support this feature. My works involved VMware simulation & this prevent me from running 64 bit guest OS. Since buying another laptop seems not worth at all & Acer Aspire 9420 is a strong laptop to do heavy job, I'm determine, what ever it takes, I will enable Virtualization on this laptop.
For the past 2 years, I have working hard to achieve my objective. I has search & search in the internet and I found a couple of article about hacking the BIOS to enable Virtualization. This is a few forum's threads & articles I found:-

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is an older laptop that I'm working on for a friend. She don't have enough money for tech support or anything like that. I went through the system to change the ownership to me, hoping that it would facilitate the process.
The only good thing is that I can still boot from a USB drive, though nothing I've tried from that angle works. The HDD is locked down, of course.
I ran Intels Processor Identification Tool, and it shows VT as enabled. I haven't installed VMWare yet, but I will shortly. Also, I haven't updated my Bios, but the VGN-Z690 bios update might be a possible solution for other(just a wild guess, I have no way of varifying).

Steps I have taken:
1.Disabled Virtualization in BIOSÂ
  Result: Speccy and hwinfo64, 3rd party utilities show VT-x is available but disabled
2.Enabled Virtualization in BIOS
  Result: Speccy and hwinfo64, 3rd Party utilities show VT-x is not available
3. Repeated above steps after updating BIOS
 Result: Same problems

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop computer specifically because I wanted a computer that would support WiDi (IntelWireless Display) to my HDTV. I had been under the assumption that all current generation laptops included Intel Wireless Display technology.Â
After receiving the computer, I have just discovered that the wireless network card in this machine apparently does NOT support wireless display technology. Is there a way that I can replace the network card in this machine with one that DOES support wireless display technology or at least addan additional card to the machine that supports wireless display?

I have a W530, with i7 and 16G standard setup. I want to enable HV-X and found they are marked as Disabled, and gray-out in BIOS, also date is gray-out also.

i7 must support virtualizaion, while time setting is gray-out, I think this is either a security issue or a BIOS bug, but I had same problem with 2013 Feb BIOS, and also update to 2014 latest BIOS, same problem here.
My Inspiron 15z was just repaired today (it got a new motherboard due to a different problem that is now fixed). But now, whenever I start up my laptop, I get an error message from Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager that says "Your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technology enabled." I have never gotten this error message before. It is only now after my motherboard has been replaced. I don't understand what Intel Rapid Start Technology is and if I should have it enabled, and if so how to enable it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 with a 32gb SSD. Started it up today and completed the 'setting up windows' bit. Opened up 'Intel Rapid Storage Technology' and it can see both of my 750gb HDD, and the 32gb SSD but there is no 'accelerate' tab available.
Incidentally, when I click on My Computer, I can also see both 750gb HDD and  32 GB SSD- i though the latter  was not supposed to be visible here.  Under 'Computer management' the SSD has an 8gb 'Hibernation' partition and a second usable partition.
Having read numerous posts about this already, I have checked in the Bios that Intel Smart storage is already selected.
can someone with the Intel 4500MHD graphics test this?
Reason why I need a quick reply by 3pm PST tomorrow is that after that time I'm going to send my Laptop to Dell for them to investigate the fan issue.

fan turns on too often. tried undervolting, using arctic silver 5, switched from t9550 to p8400 already

if any of you 1555 owners can boot into the BIOS and stay in there for 5 minutes, can you just observe if teh fan goes off or not? Mine does, even after a cold boot (when i haven't used the laptop within the last hour).
I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 through a clean install. Now I must have enable something I didn't want to because now it asks to put a password in before it boots. I know the password, that's not the problem.
The problem is I'd rather not have it ask me, and there's always a danger of it locking up on me if it gets input incorrectly.
So my question is, how do I turn it off? I did a clean install so I don't have most of the crap Acer throw in, including eManagement Settings, which I heard may have the solution to my problem. I only have the Acer Bio Protection, the fingerprint reader, and I tried turning it off there, but to no avail.
I am trying to install a hybrid HDD with solid state and a mechanical back-up. The SSD portion works but I can't run the HDD utilities to turn on the mechanical drive portion. I need to turn off RAID and activate AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) for HDD's in the Bios settings. It would also be nice to update my bios as the revisions come out. Now it won't turn on but when I plug it in the charger light is lite. I've tried disconnecting the battery and the charger and then holding down the power button for 10 seconds. Then I tried to connect it with just the charger. It didn't work.

There is no RAID or "Intel Smart Response Technology" choice in BIOS->SATA.
My inspiron 9400 will not boot. The only functions I can see is the battery light comes on when plugged in to indicate that it is charging, and when I press the power button the power light comes on for 5 seconds then goes off, thats it.
I thought this problem was the board earlier, so I replaced it with a tested motherboard and am having the same problem.
I have also tried booting with just AC adaptor and just battery, no change. Right now my only idea is the CPU, is this feasible? Can somebody help me with this?
I am a bit of a tech head, and urged my wife to wait until the "good" touch screen has well laptops came out.  I even wrote some glowing reviews of Dell's inspiron 15 7537 after I received it ([URL....)Unfortunately, just a few weeks out of warranty, the trusty laptop has stopped powering up. The symptoms: laptop will not power up.  Things I have tried:
-Making sure the power cable was plugged in (LED is on the power ring on the plug itself)
-Making sure the PC recognizes the power cable and the power adapter isn't loose (power ring brightens when plugged in)
-Trying different outlets, including several direct to wall outlets
-Removing battery and trying to power up with just power cable
-Removing battery and AC adapter, holding power for 3+ minutes to "clear static charge"
-Doing above and then plugging power cable in
-One ram chip at a time
-No ram
Unfortunately nothing works. Â Fans don't turn on, lights don't turn on, display doesn't turn on, no noises or beeps. Â Other than the power ring on the plug getting brighter when I plug it in, there is no indication that the device is receiving any power. Â The build quality of the device is so high and my wife has been very satisfied.
I have the Inspiron 15R 5110, however recently it just stopped working. I have tried all the suggestions (removing battery & power chord then pressing power button for 30 sec etc. Nothing works and it won't power up). The power button light comes on when pressed (while connected to AC or without AC). The other lights flicker and then nothing. After 10 seconds a repeated cycle of 3 beeps begins. I don't want to waste money on a new battery in case the problem is actually (probably) the motherboard. Can I purchase a new motherboard? How much? Machine is 2 years old bought new from Dell.
