View 6 RepliesI spilled coke all over my M1710 and it will no longer turn on. I called and they are making me ship it out to them (I have complete care) so they can look at it.
Will they repair my unit? Or will I end up with a M1730? If they do give me a 1730, will I end up with a single 8700M GT seeing how my 1710 only had a 7900GS? Is this a downgrade or upgrade?
when I hit the power button, the fans kick on and a couple lights turn on, but nothing happens- the screen remains blank. I don't even see the acer splash screen like usual. Also, I'm pretty sure that the hard drive isn't spinning as well.
I know the lcd isn't dead as I tried hooking it up to an external monitor, but that didn't work.
So my M1730 got shipped yesterday... they gave me 2 tracking numbers-- both were used in august 08.. So I waited it out, and later on, the two tracking numbers both updated... Both of them say "Electronic info received".
I call Fedex this morning, they tell me Dell hasn't shipped anything yet. I call Dell, the lady tells me it was shipped and not to worry. I don't know who to believe..
So basically I can't track my package and know when its coming....
my studio xps 16 (1640) shipped with vista 64bit and I also received a Win7 64bit upgrade. Is it possible to get a 32bit version of Win7? I have the home premium version.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've placed my order for the Studio 1537 yesterday (yay), and I was wondering what type of hard drive Dell equips the Studio 15 with. The order confirmation says I have a 320 GB 5400 rpm HDD (reference number 400-14158).
View 10 Replies View RelatedI received my M1730 today, and all of the paperwork states I have the 8800 GTX 2X512mb cards (my order screen, my invoice, etc), yet when I powered it up, looked at the BIOS, it has the 8700's in it. Now I don't know what to do. I want the machine but don't want to have to wait another 2 weeks to get it.
I also ordered a Crimson Red cover and it came with the Smoke Gray cover, don't know how this happened either, but not as big a deal as the video cards!
I have looked throughout the site and even emailed customer support (with no answer) but cannot find anything about average delivery times. I live in England and have order a new alienware m15x which was dispatched early on monday via ups. UPS tracking is still not active on my order (I know it can take up to 4 working days, which I find quite ridiculous frankly) and I am getting frustrated as I have no idea whats happening or when I can expect my order. I was just hoping people could give me an idea of how long it took their order to be delivered once shipped and if someone could tell me where uk alienware orders actually ship from.
I have been reading through dell forums and noticed that some american customers have had their orders listed as shipped but the orders had not actually been picked up by the carrier (i.e. ups). I wonder if anyone in the uk has experienced similar issues with delivery.
My laptop had to be replaced by Dell a second time within the last four years recently. I shipped it in and it took about a week and they placed an order to begin processing a shipment for a replacement. The replacement shipped out on Thursday. I had to do my own investigating to get a tracking number because the reps were useless.
I go to FedEx to check the number and find out its getting overnighted (YES!) but then to my horror, I noticed it's getting this to an old address I lived at YEARS ago. The thing I find funny about this is that, even when the laptop was replaced the first time, nothing was shipped to that address it was shipped to me at school. When I received the box to ship in my current unit to repair, it was sent to my current address. I have no clue where they got this address .....
I was on a business trip and my replacement arrived.
Since I was away I asked my wife to packup my old one and send it to them.
She packed up another laptop older machine that I had and sent it back.
Do you think that they will notice or give me any problems
My status changed to shipped this morning at 8am, but I haven't been provided a tracking number to follow the package.
I'm shipping "Canada standard" or do you think something's up?
I got an Email saying it was shipped but no tracking number is there an automated system I can call in canada to get an update since the web side says NA?
This happens when in SLI only, there is ghosting/tearing/i have no idea of some sort. It happens in WoW, Crysis, Crysis WH, and 3dMarkVantage. Doesn't happen in "the Orange Box" or Bioshock. I've reloaded every driver I can find, dell factory image with all microsoft updates, dell factory image no updates, and verified it happens on both the Sharp panel in the system and my Samsung Syncmaster 24". Please help. I'm within my 21 day mark, and I'll probably return it if I can't get it fixed soon. Should probably tell ya, x9000 (stock clock) 4GB, 320HDD, SLI 8800GTX's, Vista 32bit.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy itinerary clearly shows a Nvidia Geforce 210m graphics card and they shipped me a system with 9400m.
I have already started my previous work on this computer and I dont know if I should go back to the customer care and ask them to replace this as it will be collected and I dont know how long they will take to replace this.
Again with the WLED screen, I am not sure if it is ... actually a WLED... I searched all the forums and have seen the 1330 pics but have never seen a 1340 wled screen pic as this one has curved edges...
What solid-statd drive (SSD) is shipped in the MacBook Pro?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop. I purchased an OEM system builder Pack Microsoft Win Home Prem 7-64 bit English disk that won't install on my computer.
I am assuming my laptop is 32 bit, not 64 bit. Is there a way around this? I now have the disk for sale on Ebay but would like to be able to figure out how to use it either on my laptop or on my HP desktop.........
I currently have the warranty plan where the person comes to your HOUSE.

Dell is offering a pretty cool opportunity for customers and the general public to help us redesign the support website for home users.
Go to this Storm Session link if you have suggestions on what you would like to see.

I am with virgin media, when i go to my GF place or work or anywhere i can't connect to any wireless network,
Don't have any problem at home to connect.

I have been searching all over various forums and tech sites for an answer. Currently I have 2 GB of ram in my 1520 that's running Home Premium. I've done a clean install after adding the 1 GB Turbo Cache module. It was only about $30.00 and figured worth the risk to try for performance gains. I haven't felt much there.
Does anyone have any positive feedback on performance when upgrading from 2 GB to 4 GB of RAM? I am running 32 BIT and don't care that the full 4 GB are not recognized. I don't want to waste money unless it will make some difference.
Aside from the clean install, I've been using X-Setup Pro, Tweak UAC and TweakIV for optimizing the settings for a little speed. I've also tweaked the services according to Black Viper's web site. The software tweaking has helped immensely.
I appreciate anyone's feedback on upgrading to 4 GB of ram. Sorry if this has been an old discussion getting beat up once again. However, prices are right around $75.00 for 4 GB of G Skill from Newegg.
What are the major differences between Dell home laptops and business laptops besides Home ones having fancier colors and media buttons?
Which would be more durable for a college kid?
Dell laptop Inspiron 1300 tag DM1492J. When trying to boot from hard drive it only loads to Windows XP long in screen then goes to a blank blue screen. It will not load in safe mode nor can I repair/reinstall XP from DVD/CD drive. I have entered BIOS and placed DVD/CD drive first disabling all other options but still cannot get it to load XP.

View 5 Replies View RelatedDell never gave my girlfriend a disc to re-install Vista.
Actually... I'm playing the role of Tech Support Guy (even speaking to her with a difficult-to-understand Indian accent!!).
She had a crash, so I used VistaPE to get her data off of the computer. Now, I wanna restore Vista to the original factory settings. Sounds easy enough... use f8, right?
Wrong... it won't work in my case. The recovery partition is still there... I just can't access it. The operating system won't boot up at all. I used a non-Dell Vista Home Premium disc to access the Vista System Recovery option, but that doesn't help. I can't get at Dell's recovery partition.
I figure if I had a re-installation disc that's actually from Dell, I could access Vista's System Recovery feature that includes the Dell option to restore the computer to the original factory settings. Problem is, I can't get ahold of one.
Does anybody know where I can find one without going directly to the Dell website? I think Dell has the worst customer service on the planet and I would pay someone to hit me in the head with a sledgehammer before I'd spend one dollar on a Dell product. I've been scouring the internet for two days and can't seem to find a stray copy of what I need.
The computer came factory-installed with the 32-bit (x86) Windows Vista Home Premium.
Yeah... you read that right: a DELL with VISTA!! Could it get any worse?!
This whole thing is driving me bat-sh*t crazy.
I hate Dell... I thank you all in advance for any help that you can give.
Maybe someone would be so kind as to post an .iso image of their own disc?!
I have a Dell XPS 1530 and at school, my computer connects to the wireless internet fine and has normal speed as if it were connected to an ethernet cord, but at home,
it connects but is extremely slow. There are other laptops that connect to the router and they have fast speeds. My computer has vista home premium, 4 gb, intel core 2 duo cpu, t8300 @ 2.40 ghz.
I am planning to buy Dell XPX 1530 or HP DV4 1131tx for purely to run virtual machines.
is there any possibility to make it dual boot with Windows server 2003 standard edition or Win XP 64 bit? If possible then what are features i won't be able use for above both notebooks.
I installed some windows updates to my computer. The next time I turned on my computer it didn't act normal at all. It went to a start-up repair screen which scanned for a long time only to tell me "start-up repair cannot fix this computer" so I shut down and left my computer. I called Dell's support line and talked with technical assistance, the guy had me run some tests and in the end told me that there was nothing wrong with the hard drive and that it was my systems software that was the problem. didn't wanna restore at that point because wanted to save my pictures.
I ended up taking the hard drive out, transferring pictures onto my brothers computer and then I did a full system restore ( by tapping f8, choosing repair my PC, then choosing "Dell data safe restore and emergency backup" in the system recovery options screen. ) This actually worked and I restored my computer, however after installing updates again (quite a few too, when I shut down my computer it said installing update 1 of 72?! )
My computer went back to the start up repair screen and did the same thing as before. restored my computer one more time, and now again after updates were installed my computer will not work correctly. I do have the windows product key under the battery but would like to know how I can fix this problem. Will have to reinstall my windows software?
It seems like every time I delete a file, I get a whit bar on my desk top that says Delete and the only way on getting ride of it is to restart my laptop, this white bar is on my display all the time on mater what I am doing.
This last time, I deleted the contents or my of my recycle Bin
