I put a new hard drive in my Dell Inspiron 6000 and installed Vista. That was horrible so I reinstalled Windows XP. The Wireless was working in Vista. Now when I try to see Dell WLAN it comes up No Adapters.
View 4 RepliesI have an Acer Aspire 4720Z. Since long I had been using XP. Recently it was formatted and Windows 7 was installed. But after this upgradation, the WLAN is not working. Have banged my head with drivers and all.
Device manager is showing Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi miniport adapter (although with XP it simply showed by the name of WLAN adapter as far as I remember). And checking it's properties it says that the device is working properly. When Intel Wi-Fi Technology is tried to get started, it says that 'A supported intel wireless network adapter not found'.
I'm sure there's an obvious answer to this, but I just did a clean install of my new 1647 and the wireless adapter seems to be misisng
(at least the enable button). I'm on the dell driver site, and I can't for the life of me choose which driver/application will reintegrate it.
I installed a fresh Windows XP on this Vostro, and tried to do the Install Order, with NSS and then Chipset....but once I get to wireless adapter and I go to install the drivers based on the "Service Tag" I get "The Device could not be detected, Installation Aborted".
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am using ideapad y510p. My wifi worked perfectly yesterday evening. However today at morning I couldnt find any wifi networks. After some research I have discovered that there is not wifi adapter present in Network Adapters and also that there is no wifi adapter in device manager. However bluetooth works fine. I have tried reinstalling drivers (even clean install of everything that may have something with networking). But I still cant see any wifi adapter. LAN connection works just fine. I dont think this should be hardware related problem because as far as I know bluetooth and wifi adapters are both located on Intel Centrino N2230. So I think that if my wifi adapter would be broken than bluetooth wouldnt be working too. I have also tried using system restore point to last week (when everything was working perfectly) but it didnt work.
I have also downloaded latest drivers from intel website and when I run tests with theirs WiFi Software Utility (or whatever it is called) it says that there is no wifi adapter present so it fails even hardware test.
I have a hp mini 110-3538tu and it has been playing up in every which way and very slow so I have a USB with Windows 7 which I am trying to install over windows 7 starter but when I get to the part where I have to select the driver to be installed I can choose my USB but it say no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, then click OK. I cannot get past here.

I ended up purchasing a wifi card on ebay named gigabyte pci card for my laptop. It worked when my other friend installed the drivers.
the wireless driver on the Dell website does NOT work. Googling this problem leads me to believe that I am not the only one with it.
However I have not seen anyone with a solution; most people are just linked to the Dell website and the Dell driver, which doesn't work at all.
I have a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14t-k000 CTO Ultrabook. It just went out of warranty a month or so ago but started blue-screening rigth after that - I had to reinstall Windows 8.1.
Since the install, my wifi has not been working properly. (I can use an Ethernet cable without a problem.) Sometimes it will say the wifi is connected with full bars, but then I get a "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET" when I try to pull up any browser and nothing will load. Other times it just won't connect at all. The weird thing is that 5% of the time it will work fine, and I'll be able to use wifi no problem for a couple hours at a time.
What could possibly be going on? Is it a driver issue? Should I get a new network adapter? Is it a settings issue?
Does the Inspiron 17 have a built in wireless adapter?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled windows 7 on dell inspiron 1525 and the wireless adapter isn't picking up any connections. When i troubleshoot the error it says 'turn wireless capability on' the switch on the laptop is on but the light isnt showing up on the laptop.
I checked device manager and there is dell wireless mini-card and it says it is working properly.
My wireless adapter needs to be constantly reset. My wireless constantly goes out, at least every 10 minutes or LESS and it has to reset the adapter. It's VERY annoying! I've already updated all the drivers and even tried re-installing the adapter.Bluetooth is NOT on.

While I tried to install the drivers, the drivers suitable, as identified by dell software, was for ethernet and none of the wireless/bluetooth drivers where selected as suitable. When I go to the device manager I couldnt see any wireless adapters that need drivers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is a recurring problem where the computer ceases to recognize the existence of the wireless adapter. It doesn't matter if the computer is running 8, or 8.1, nor if the computer is fully Updated. This seems to be a hardware problem or some sort of electrical short, not a driver problem. I have done a bit of research over the last four months or so (when the problem first started happening), and the problem I am experiencing is most likely caused by either a faulty card, or a card that is loose from its socket on the motherboard, and not by a driver/hardware discrepancy.The strange part is the intermittent nature of the computer's recognition of the device. Stranger still is that despite what appears to be a hardware problem, I have usually been able to fix it, either by:
Uninstalling then reinstalling the device's drivers,Restoring the computer to a previous point,Reformatting the computer using the built in Windows 8 feature, and/or Removing certain Windows Updates in reverse chronological order (until the integrated WiFi device is recognized).
Last night, the problem happened again. It was maybe the 4th or 5th time overall, and the 2nd time I was forced to "hard reformat" in an attempt to fix the problem. Until just a few minutes ago, when I partially deconstructed then reconstructed the device, the "hard reformat" method didn't fix the WiFi. After the "hard reformat" didn't work, Upon turning the computer back on, it recognized the wireless adapter, I connected to the network successfully, and here I am now, documenting what happened.
I essentially did nothing significant to the device, and now the wireless adapter is recognized. Why?
All that being said, I believe I have narrowed down the cause of the problem, at least in my case. I believe there is some sort of electrical short issue. The short is caused by one (or perhaps both) of the following:
Assuming the physical location of the wireless adapter is next to the location of the port for the AC adapter, I think the AC adapter, when moved or jiggled by a hand, somehow negatively interferes with the wireless adapter, causing it to fail.Shutting the lid of the computer, perhaps when combined with the above, and/or under other conditions (something having to do with power settings?, something having to do with the state of the network when the lid is shut?), causes the network adapter to fail.Something very similar used to happen on an old Dell notebook I had, as well as on a CR-48, towards the end of their lives. That is, in order for the internet to work, I had to have the AC adapter at certain angle when it was plugged into the computer. Otherwise the wireless connection would drop. It seems like there's a connection there (pun intended), but perhaps not?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to format my C drive and have a fresh installation of the operating system on my Inspiron 1460, which I bought 3 years back. Steps that I am following:
1. Insert Re-installation DVD for Windows 7 Home, provided by Dell
2. Power off machine
3. Power on machine
4. While it is starting press F12, and select CD/DVD and press Enter
5. "press any to key read from cd/dvd" appears, press Enter
6. System boots up
7. Install now button appears, click it
After this it is asking for a driver cd/location to install. I have a driver software cd which is also not recognized.
I am using an Inspiron 15R SE 7520 which I upgraded to Windows 8 after partitioning my hard drive (two accessible drives c: and d:). The restore partition was left intact.
Due to a software incompatibility I am going to have to restore back to Windows 7, and I hope to use the Dell restore utility.
My question is: If I use the utility will my D drive data (backed up files etc) also be wiped, or will just the C drive be reformatted?
I am trying to reinstall Windows 8 on my Inspiron 15Z 5523. I recently got the restore media from Dell with a Windows 8 install disk, but the disk does not have drivers present to access the hard drive/SSD array. Every time I try to install it, it says there is a driver missing.
I originally had tried to restore the system, and I reformatted the hard drive with Dell's utility, but then I ran into a problem because the Dell utility to create recovery media only produced one disk (it did not give me the system image, so I had nothing to restore).
I cannot get Windows 8 reinstalled (nor any other version of Windows) on it. What do I need to do to load the HDD/SDD RAID Drivers on the computer to install Windows?
I bought DELL Inspiron 15r N7520 a year back with windows 8 in it, since then I am continuously facing multiple issues , I updated my windows 8 to 8.1 so it was asking for key I searched a lot but never found any sticker on laptop or any CD , I found no way to go back so I tried installing another windows by boot and while doing so I face so many problems at last I went to command prompt diskpart and CLEAN ALL . It removed each and everything I have no way to recover refresh or any other. No option seems to be working for me. And even I don't have dell backup and recovery. If I try to insall windows8 by DVD it gives an error of key doesn't match . Is there any way to install windows without sending my laptop to Dell ?

I installed some windows updates to my computer. The next time I turned on my computer it didn't act normal at all. It went to a start-up repair screen which scanned for a long time only to tell me "start-up repair cannot fix this computer" so I shut down and left my computer. I called Dell's support line and talked with technical assistance, the guy had me run some tests and in the end told me that there was nothing wrong with the hard drive and that it was my systems software that was the problem. didn't wanna restore at that point because wanted to save my pictures.
I ended up taking the hard drive out, transferring pictures onto my brothers computer and then I did a full system restore ( by tapping f8, choosing repair my PC, then choosing "Dell data safe restore and emergency backup" in the system recovery options screen. ) This actually worked and I restored my computer, however after installing updates again (quite a few too, when I shut down my computer it said installing update 1 of 72?! )
My computer went back to the start up repair screen and did the same thing as before. restored my computer one more time, and now again after updates were installed my computer will not work correctly. I do have the windows product key under the battery but would like to know how I can fix this problem. Will have to reinstall my windows software?
My Inspiron 6400 laptop has suddenly slowed down really slow. Connection speed, downloading even typing is painfully slow. I've been told my Wndows XP service pack 3 which I installed recently may be unstable and needs to be . So I need to get a copy of it to download again. My warranty has expired.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm new to having Dell computers. Today I received a Dell Inspiron 15z 5233 laptop with windows 8 on it. It has a 32 GB SSD and 500 GB hard drive. I can not see the SSD drive in the windows file explorer, nor do I see it in the Disk Management utility from the Control Panel. However, I do see it in the Device Manager as an SSD and another Hard Drive in the Disk Drive section. The SSD driver is up to date. I have not installed any drivers on the computer except for the Serial ATA CY1HK_WN_12.8.0.1016_A03. That was only after I tried to install windows 7 and it said "No Drive Found" when I tried to select a drive to install on.
I googled what could be the problem and saw that it could be a driver issue with the SATA connection. So I got that driver (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver) and the SK Hynix Solid State Drive Firmware update. These are the most current on Dells website. This is an older computer, says late 2012. It has an i5 Processor. The SSD is SSDPM830 mSATA in the device manager. Storage Controller: Intel Mobile Express Chipset RAID SATA controller. When I try to save a file, I do not see an SSD drive, there is only one drive, the C: drive which is the 500 GB disk drive. I hope I have supplied enough information to understand the problem.
So I put the drivers on a USB and tried to install windows 7 again, and it still shows No Drive Found, and when I tried to browse for the drivers, they do not appear on the USB. It will show all the folders on the USB, but I can not open the folder they are in. So I put them directly on the USB outside of any folders, and they still do not show up. Also, I changed it to Legacy mode, safe mode off for the boot settings.
I assumed I did not have to install any drivers on windows 8, because it detects everything automatically now days. Should I go ahead and install some drivers on windows 8?
I Purchased this laptop, (Inspiron 3521) through ebay.in and after 3 months I found that it has no factory installed image in it (but mentioned during purchase). I still have warranty till march 2015. Can I be able to replace the faulty disc with new one win8 installed.

I tried installing Windows 7 several times but each time when Windows 7 installation finishes, system restarts and shows following blue screen.
Windows 7 is not moving further. Each time when i restarts computer, Windows splash screen (Windows Logo Screen) shows and then moves to error screen.
