View 11 RepliesWe have an unusual problem with a Dell Latitude E5520. It has been built with Windows 7 32bit SP1 and McAfee EndPoint Encryption, as we do with all of our laptops.
When the laptop is powered on and then docked, everything works fine. If you then give the laptop a restart whilst docked, it just doesn't! It shuts down and stays in some kind of power save mode. I have been through all of the Power options, including closing of the lid and turned off everything that could be causing this to happen, but still nothing.
If the power button is pressed whilst docked, the light comes on but that's it, no activity. Undock it, power up, close the lid and dock it again, all of the external screen, keyboard and mouse work as you would expect. I believe all of the drivers are up to date (it is a new laptop).
The docking station is an E-Port Plus DP/N: FFCV6 A00
I acquired a Dell Latitude E5520 that I redid myself and downloaded the drivers from Dell's website. I would like Dell quickset x64 for windows 7. The one I had for my old laptop does not work. I tried googling some but can't find it.

I have a Dell Latitude E6430 running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit and I am connected to the internet...
I just got my docking station for my Dell e5520. I got the one monitor to work with the VGA set up. I would love to get the two DVI monitors working instead of one monitor. I am not sure if this is possible or not. If it IS possible, how do I go about doing it?

I tried to install WINDOWS 7 32/64 Bit but i get blue screen in the end of installation.
I have a Latitude E5520 that is having some strange issues. If I have i plugged in to a power cord, close the lid and disconnect the power cord, the unit shuts off. Sometimes when undocking, the unit will shut off as well.
I have checked the power settings and confirmed that when the lid is closed, no action should be taken.
The battery is fully charged and the laptop runs fine on the battery.
This has the latest BIOS revision A09.....
When I first got my Latitude E5520 (i7, 8Gb RAM, Intel HD graphics) I could connect to a Citrix based VDI desktop with a screen resolution of 1920x1024. Suddenly it dropped to 1280x760. I have never been able to get it to shift back to 1920.
The Citrix client has been replaced with both available options. Same result. Every possible configuration setting has been set to 1920x1024 to no avail.
The native desktop is at 1920x1024. Shifting into the VDI session, the only screen resolution offered is 1280x760.
I have also reloaded the graphics driver. Same results.Going into the advanced graphics configuration on the laptop confirms 1920x1024.
Other laptops allow me to log in to the same VDI desktop in 1920x1024 resolution so it is isolated to the laptop itself...
I have a Dell Latitude E5520 and lately it has been extremely slow, and characters on screen tend to lag far behind my keystrokes occasionally not appearing at all. Sometimes when I click on a button it will lag for several seconds and then go through, other times nothing will happen at all and I will have to click the button again and it works. Recently the laptop was taken on a plane and the in-flight wifi was used, that is the only thing done recently outside of the normal routine.
I have booted into safe mode and the lag still occurs. I have antivirus software installed and up to date.
Looking for a Boot Disk or Start up disk for an Aspire 4720Z or a place to download one. She has been doing finals etc for the past week without it at college.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to check the normal operating temperature for the Dell Latitude E7440. My fan is constantly on and the air coming out the side vent is extremely hot. I have installed a temperature app and with basic use (windows 8.1 and 2 or 3 apps open) the core 0 and core 1 of the processor are running between 85 and 90 degrees Celsius. When plugged into power, the fan is permanently on high speed. I don't know if this is normal. I dont understand why it is getting so hot, i have the i7, 8GB, 256GB SSD, so literally no moving parts to generate heat. My battery (47Wh) drains very quickly as well, 2 1/2 hours max.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to install a second hard disk in E4300?
Earlier the option used to be available whilst configuring the E4300 online to add a second 1.8inch hard disk. Now it is no longer there. Can the same be ordered through a Dell rep? What exactly is it that comes when you order this?
I will be grateful if someone can share this info. This will be the deal maker/breaker for me on the E4300.
I have a new hard disk for a Dell D630. I was able to install Ubuntu but I cannot get Windows to install. When I try, it does the preliminary loading but when it starts to install I get the blue screen of death. A Google search on this came up with make sure the BIOS has the disk set for IDE. In my BIOS settings however, there is no setting for this, only an SATA choice of ATA and ANCI, both of which I've tried.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThough in all adverts it boasts about strong encryption options, I could not find any way of encrypting the disk other than Windows Bitlocker.
In the Dell Data Protection Console, but there are no options in the Encryption Tab. I even downloaded directly from Dell product site DDP Encryption software (650 Mb !) but in the installation, personal installation option is disabled asking for only Enterprise installation which requires some kind of a server.
I'm trying to switch out the processor of my E6400. When I put the new processor in and start the computer, the lights blink, sometimes the screen turns on (to black), but the BIOS never loads (or even starts). The computer then turns off, and the caps and scroll lock lights turn on, and the num lock light starts blinking.
Does anyone know what that blinking code means, and more importantly, why the computer isn't starting?
Back before Xmas, I had to reinstall the os so at the same time I changed the password for the hard disk that is set in the bios, before installing the os.
Problem is after the OS had installed and said it was shutting down to reboot, it never shut down properly so after 5-10mins I pushed the power button to force it to shut down.
Switched it back on, typed in the new hard disk password and it wouldnt accept it. Tried again but no success so tried the old hard disk password but even that didnt work. Anyway I've locked the hard disk now, not updated the bios or anything but wondered if there is anything I can do or Dell can do to unlock it?
Its an E6400 with the finger print scanner (can post the tag number) , I know its old laptop but still got all the receipts and everything to prove its not nicked and owned by the original owner.
I have a Dell Latitude C640 that was disconnected from everything for about 1 year ( power supply problems). Now I have a new power supply and the battery is charged, but the computer wont start at all. He doesn't go to the bios, he just start starting and after 3 or 4 seconds go off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently came to the same fate, Recently had my battery replaced by Dell which was wonderful n the mess up part is that I cannot get it charged on my Latitude E6420.
My flashing problem started when I had a power failure in my area while i had my note book on charge. I cant do anything without having to keep my notebook on charge. i doesnt start up without it being plugged in now n it doesnt even charge my new replacement battery.
I recently formatted my Dell Latitude D520 laptop because of a frequent shutdown problem.
Also at the same time I have updated my BIOS setup file.
But now whenever i restart laptop, at the start up the DELL logo appears and also the windows logo and other messages appears in very small window rather than full screen size, till the machine gets fully loaded. Once the windows is loaded , it works well with full screen mode.
However, if i run any Command Prompt application, the screen get shrinks to small size, the same size which appears when the machine is booting.
On investigation, I found that
a) At every startup in BIOS setup Video/LCD Panel expansion is getting turned off and I have to manually enabled it at every startup
b) If i run any video/audio file the latptop instantly get turned off and may or may not restart for several days. Once it get turned off, it simply start getting turned off at every startup.
I have installed the drivers from the site, but problem persists.
Does it happens because I updated latest BIOS version? Shall i get old BIOS file from dell site?
I have a Dell Latitude E6500 that I have been using for quite a long time. Recently it started acting up, and now it won't start up past the Dell logo. It simply goes to a black screen with a flashing dash. I've restarted it a few times, tried pushing F8, and gone into F12. I tried the Diagnostics through F12, but it takes an extremely long time and has never finished so far. I tried it again this morning, and periodically throughout the test a message like this has shown up:
Error Code 0123. Msg: Error Code 2000-0123 Msg: Memory - integrity test failed. The given error code and message can be used by Dell Technical Support to diagnose problem. Do you want to continue testing?
Yes or No or Retry
I'm not sure what exactly this means, but it keeps popping up. I would like to get through to start up my computer all the way, but that doesn't seem to be an option. Is there anyway for me to wipe it without F8? My cd slot won't open, and I don't have disks anyways. Is it possible to fix it via USB drives? Or F12?
I have a Latitude E6510 that will not start. When pressing the power button, the power light goes on for about 5 seconds and then turns off. I also notice the battery light flashes a few times when re-connecting the AC adapter.
Removed the battery, held in the power button 30 seconds, but still not working.
We have had this laptop about 6 months. About a month ago, it exhibited this problem. After talking to Dell Support, they recommended a system board replacement. The laptop was sent in and the board was replaced. When I got it back and tried to start it for the first time, it did the same thing. I then pressed the Latitude "ON" button, and the laptop started.
Now it is doing the same thing, and I find it hard to believe that another system board is bad. I am suspicious about this "ON" feature, that maybe the laptop is "stuck" or something trying to get into the "ON" mode. Or maybe it is just trying to get into "ON" mode.
I am not sure what the "ON" feature does, but I have noticed a few other posts on the internet of users having the exact same problem. Again--I find it hard to believe a second system board could be bad.
can i make the partition for hard disk without formatting the disk . Laptop model is dell Inspiron N5110.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just borrowed my laptop to a friend and he said when he tried to boot it up he go this message.
The message I get when restarting is non-system disk or disk error, press a key to continue over and over.
When I click f10 before boot up there is a harddisk test option, where it says Hard Disk test failed, no disk installed.
So is it either the harddisk or the motherboard thats a problem? AFAIK nothing new was installed leading up to this. The computer is no longer under warranty.
My Inspiron 5421 won't start. I can hear the drive start and after a few seconds I get a 4-beep code (RAM read/write failure). The warranty expired about 6 months ago.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Studio 1555 won't start anymore. When I want to turn it on, I get a beeping signal (2 beeps) and nothing happens. I tried all possible troubleshooting tips from the dell website (disconnecting all power and hold power button, reconnect to power, checked battery with the button on the battery, all fine, can't get into bios because computer doesn't start at all) but nothing works. Recently I also checked if the motherboard is connected properly and there is no issue either.
I also purchased a new dell adapter because my old one was a little bit damaged. The adapter is like the old one, and it's originally dell and the correct one for the studio 1555 so it can't be the adapter. Laptop also doesn't start when the battery is not in and it's only connected to the power.
I just bought the Probook 4710s 5 days ago, and some times when I try to start the computer, it just wrights on the screen Non system disk or disk error, please replace and press any key... I don't have any CD or DVD in CD/DVD unit or any USB keys... when I try to scan the hard disk it reports to me No hard disk found. Every now and than it starts Windows normaly, but it keeps repeating frequently the same boot problem and not beeing able to start my comp.
Does it mean that the hard disk is bad or broken, or it will be soon...or what? Should I return the laptop and ask for replacement?
i have a hp 620 notebook, and it is given me an error message "non-system disk or disk error" after i turned it on. it had worked find in the morning and now it is displaying this error message and i cannot log into my notebook. i tried to recover it with hp recovery but it said "data is not valid.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having this extremely annoying problem with my HP Pavilion dv6-model1334us. Everytime I try to start up my laptop it always shows the menu screen saying Launch Start Up Repair or Start Windows Normally. I've tried to do a system restore multiple times, but the screen just stops on a blue screen. No it isn't the Blue Screen of Death, but it does attempt to start but fails and stands on the screen until it automatically or manually shuts down.
