Just got new Latitude E6520 and fan seems to never shut off. Left side of laptop always hot even when computer is idle. I can hear fan being constantly on. Is it enough to raise support request or what do I do?

My Latitude E6520 beeps randomly for no reason I can find. It is not the power adapter itself that is beeping and I have had not problems with the system charging and staying charged. I have one charger at work powering a dock and a different adapter at home. The laptop beeps randomly both.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have found that the latest driver for the Intel Ultimate-N 6300 AGN WiFi adapter for Windows 7 64 bit gives NETwNs64 Event 5060 errors when connecting to WiFi using Radius (Certificate) authentication.
We have tried Network_Driver_597FG_WN_15.01.1000_A02 which is the latest on the Dell web site..We have tried Wireless_15.3.1_Ds64 which is the latest on the Intel web site.We have had to revert to the NIC_DRVR_WIN_R292654 which is version 14.0.1.2 driver which is both stable and does not give errors in the event log. Given that we do not have issues with the version 14.0.1.2 driver, we intend to stay with that until advised otherwise.
I just got a refurbished E7440. Before booting into an OS (e.g. staying in BIOS or at the boot menu), and after booting into Ubuntu, the fan is always on high and never stop (even when the CPU is idle at 40 degree C)). I also have an E6420 and an E6440, have never seen this behavior on them.
I see both BIOS A06 and A07 has "thermal control" listed as enhancement. Updated the BIOS to A06, A07, then A08, still have the same problem in all of them.
Is this expected for all E7440s or just mine? What can I do to make the fan be "on-demand" (without using Windows)?
For the past few days, I woke up to my laptop's fan rather loud spinning. I noticed that my computer was constantly at 100% CPU usage even with like literally no processes opened, and it's idling ~50C.
It's to the point where moving my mouse across the screen lags, the pointer jumps from one spot to another.
I'm not really sure what the problem is, I ran AVG with no problem, and I don't remember doing anything to my computer in the past few days that would be considered abnormal...in fact, the only thing I did do was try to use a screensaver for the first time ever, but I turned it off with no difference,
My 1530 has recently been overheating when left idle for a while(30 min or so). When I come back I find that the fans stop working, the system overheats and the laptop restarts with blazing temperatures.
In order to turn the fans back on, I have to shutdown the laptop and then switch it back on

I bought laptop in January 2013 and its started giving this kind of error.
When i am using it continuously its working fine , when i go away from system(kept ideal for sometime) it gets shutdown.
so i need to re-login and it closes all the application which i was using before shutdown.
I already did some initial checks like Scaning entire system for virus(i hardly have any data on system) and
Dell online PC Check which passes all the test.
When I start up my laptop, it makes a beeping sound then tells me something along the lines of,"AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined."And when I press F2, it tells me that my battery is operational but it is on idle but the lights on the battery do not glow.When I get it started up, on the actual home screen with icons and everything, if I hover above the battery icon it tells me, "Plugged in, not charging."
My AC power adapter has a small led light on it, and it is green. Before this, my laptop used to get very very hot, to the point that I could not even put it on my lap for too long. I would also sometimes put it on my bed where there is fabric. Also, there is a break on the AC adapter at the very top near where it gets plugged in. I also ran a diagnostic test and it gave me back a code, 2000-0142 .....
Also, my laptop is significantly slower and I am using an Inspiron 1521
I need to select a new laptop for work. My company allows Dell only.
Currently, I have a Dell Latitude D610. (yes time to upgrade).
I travel often. Therefore, weight is a factor. I'm not sure if I should go with the 14" or 15" screen. My current 14" seems OK. I need a laptop where I can use a port replicator. I believe that this limits my choices. Some of the models I like from a design standpoint don't seem to offer this.

I couldn't really figure out what the difference is between the E5x and E6x.
I have owned a Dell Latitude D620 for the last few years. Lately, i have realized that my 9-cell battery is only charging to 84% (4 weeks old), and it only gets about 1.50 hours on full charge.
Also, at random intervals, the LCD screen flickers and becomes blurry. All settings are default and there have been no modifications, here is my computer information.

I have a Latitude E6420, and i can't for the life of me get it to work. There is absolutely no life, and the battery and power lights don't light up with the ac adapter connected. I've tried taking out the battery and connecting the ac, no change. Won't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Latitude E6430 to replace my aging Latitude D630. I like to keep a second AC adaptor in my laptop case just for travel. When talking with the telephone sales agent at Dell, she told me the two adaptors are not compatible, yet both are PA-12, 65W, 19.5v, 3.34A. the only difference, is the old one is 2-pin and the new one is 3-pin. Is she blowing smoke at me?
I also have an off-brand "universal" audo/air/AC adaptor for the old computer that's, 90W, 19v, 2.7A that was listed as compatible with the D630. Are these all compatible with each other?

Logged in with Admin rights, not seeing any reason for BIOS failure. Another download of the A09 was tried as well.

The Internet tells me to press F8 on start up then go into Repair your Computer but I don't have this option on the menu. Nevertheless a new issue has arisen, when idle for some time the screen goes blank, similar to my other machines. Usually I press enter, they wake up and I carry on with my work.. The E6410's screen goes blank and will not display again. All the activity is revived as I can hear the sounds my spreadsheets and accounting and tax software make, except for the screen display. A reboot is necessary.

I have 2 Dell Latitude E6320 laptop that is given by a friend, he mentioned that both laptops has been constantly hanging everytime he restart the device.
The OS for 1st laptop is Win 7 Pro SP1 and the other one is Win XP Pro SP3.
Every time i restart the laptops it will hang in the next 7 or 10 minutes. I still can move the cursor around but i can't open task manager, or any files.
I recently changed from Vista to XP and I have attempted to get all the drivers updated to suit XP however I cannot find the right driver to activate WI FI on this laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Latitude E6400 laptop reboots when inserted in the docking station. I can run all day and say I hot dock it out of the docking station and go away for half an hour. While away I use the laptop. When I return I snap the laptop back onto the station and.... it reboots! It started about a week ago. Always worked before. The peripherals are two displays, ext kybd, mouse. No USB stuff. Ethernet connected in the dock. This setup is unchanged for months now. Docking contacts clean. Under laptop too.
BIOS is most recent (did a few months ago). I reset defaults in the BIOS today after looking for any setting that may change this issue, but no improvement. Device Manager has nothing relevant either. What's wrong? The hard reboot is really bad as I lose all my in progress work and get all these Auto Recover files to manage... and logins... and restart apps... I'm not interested in putting the computer to sleep between transitions, as it has always been working flawless up to last week.
When I boot my laptop the screen stays blank. You here the start up but screen still black as if not started. The blue symbol on F4 key lights up a 9 in a lock!! How I can get the screen to work?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to update the BIOS on a latitude E5430. When I try to run the file it provides an error that states the machine needs to be plugged in and battery connected. Both are true. However the battery LED blinks orange. A new battery has been ordered but with the most cost effective shipping it could be a week or two until it arrives. Laptop runs fine when plugged in and that is the way it is used normally anyway.
On a desktop computer you wouldn't require a UPS with good battery to flash a bios, so why would you require that on a laptop if it is plugged in? I am familiar with the plugged in requirement and that makes sense, and the laptop is plugged in.
Is there a command switch such as 5430A15.exe /force or something similar to brute force the BIOS to install?
