Latitude E6420...
I have a Latitude E6420, and i can't for the life of me get it to work. There is absolutely no life, and the battery and power lights don't light up with the ac adapter connected. I've tried taking out the battery and connecting the ac, no change. Won't work.

The battery is 6-7 months old, was pretty good - lasts for more than an hour and a half, but it's not charging now.I have tried to enter the bios and stay there for about 2 hours but the battery does not charge..Or the charger it's not the good one?

I am trying to set up my laptop to use two (2) external monitors (both Dell monitors). I am using a Dell Latitude E6420 laptop that has an external VGA connection as well as an HDMI connection. I can currently use the laptop LCD screen as one display and an external monitor (either VGA or DVI) as the second, or I can use both external (VGA and DVI) as my extended output. But I am unable to get it to work with all three. Is this a hardward limitation? or Setup limitation? Do I need third party software to accomplish that?
The laptop is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
I have a Latitude E6420 that came without a Bluetooth card. Is it possible to add the Dell TrueMobile 375 Bluetooth module to this machine? I looked in the Service Manual for the 6420 but it did not show where the Bluetooh moduel cable the plugged into the motherboard. In fact, I opened the case and found the slot where the Bluetooth module would be mounted but did not see a place to plug in the cable.

Today 4 hours after I left it on standby, I could wake him up from standby but could not see anything on screen which worked and all operating system sounds could be heard, hard drive worked as well. I tried powering it off and on, entering BIOS but I still could not see display. Here's a link to YouTube video that portrays what I see:

I later saw information here on how to access ePSA testing environment so I followed the steps: removed battery, plugged off power supply, pressed Power Button for 1 minute to drain power, held Fn key and powered laptop on until I heard funny sounds. This was ePSA probably but I still could not see anything on screen:

If I am not mistaken, my laptop was running on dedicated nVidia graphics card. What should I do now? Luckily I have customer on-site warranty still valid, but I am looking for a faster way to solve problem. Who knows, but it may be a mere problem of cable got lose which is in my abilities to fix.
I recently came to the same fate, Recently had my battery replaced by Dell which was wonderful n the mess up part is that I cannot get it charged on my Latitude E6420.
My flashing problem started when I had a power failure in my area while i had my note book on charge. I cant do anything without having to keep my notebook on charge. i doesnt start up without it being plugged in now n it doesnt even charge my new replacement battery.
My company recently purchased a E6420 from eBay, and upon turning it on we were admin locked out of the whole system. How to get into the system?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a Dell TrueMobile 375 Bluetooth module in my Latitude E6420. I have read the instructions in the E6420 Service Manual but it is not obvious where the other end of the cable on the 375 Bluetooth module plugs into the motherboard. The images provided in the Service Manual are of no luck, as they only show where the module goes, not where the cable on the module plugs into a corresponding socket.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently had to reinstall my Latitude E6420 with Windows 7.
Afterwards, Audio and Video (having Spotify+a few Office apps running) start to lag.
I tried reinstalling the Machine again without success. I tried all driveres suggested on the Dell supportpage and I asked google which told me "Turn off eSATA and SpeedStep" [URL] .... which hadnt any success either.
I have Dell Latitude E6420 with Windows 7 OS installed.
The driver for Biometric device is also installed. But windows is not finding any biometric device as shown in the following picture message.
The above fails with an error "check for updates failed" in the gui.
Sometimes it determines the list of updates to get, but then fails to download those updates, sitting on the download screen and doing nothing.
Files are created C:UsersadrianAppDataLocalDellClientSystemUpdate emp but they never exceed 11.7MB.
when I dock my in my E-port docking station, my CPU usage will shoot up to 100%, and it may come down periodically to the 80s or 90s, which makes my laptop virtually unusable for anything. I tried a different power cord but it made no difference. Undocked, it works just fine, so it's obvious it's something wrong with the docking station.

View 4 Replies View RelatedNew Latitude E6510 running Win7 Pro 64 bit. Periodically the laptop will boot with a red X through the speaker icon in the tray. Placing the mouse cursor over the speaker icon displays a message something like "No audio device is installed. A cold boot does not correct the problem. Shutting down, disconnecting the power supply, removing the battery then restarting has corrected the problem so far.
I assume this is a hardware problem.
I just bought a Dell E6400 and it has a fingerprint reader! However, the Dell ControlPoint isn't installed. Any link to whatever I need?
It's windows 7 pro, 64 bit
Inspirion 6000 running WinXp (yeah I know but it's what I got). It was in regular use until about a year or two ago then stored. Brought it back out for a project and when I went to plug in a wired mouse that I used to use with it, it wouldn't recognize it. I figured there was an issue with the mouse so got a new plug and play wireless mouse/keyboard and when I plug the dongle in, it says " 2.4G Keyboard Mouse" but can't install it. I've flashed the bios and nothing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Yadis plus a memory stick for realtime backups.
Formatting the memory stick, no matter what I do it comes up 3.45GB. I tried a second one with the same result.
Is this a problem with the laptop? With the driver? Or is it yet another case of "live with it"?
I have installed a FX 2500M (rev A02) on a M6300 system board A10 Bios, the card is working but its clock is fixed to 100MHz (100MHz core + 100MHz mem).
FX 2500m doesn't switch to 3D Low mode (200/300) or 3D Performance mode (500/600).
It always remains on 2D Mode (100/100)
Off Course the same card works correctly on M90 System Board.
I have tried many drivers, DELL version and generic version by laptopvideo2go, but same results (always fixed to 100MHz).
I have tried Rivatuner to force clock switch. Same results No Switch
I have even installed a new OS (Vista 64) and with it, I have a strange situation.
With Vista64 (no SP1) original driver supplied by MS (and based, I suppose, on forceware 96.xx) the card seems to works at high clock.
No information tools can be used (with MS Driver) so I can't see which clock are active but 3D performance (games and benchmark) are near the performance achieved with M90.
But once I update the driver by installing a recent version supplied by Nvidia (Dell version or generic is the same), the card blocks to 100MHz even under Vista64.
Unfortunately with MS Driver there are many graphics error and it isn't so usable with 3D application (i.e. games) and furthermore I want to use the card with XP32 (Vista64 has been installed only for tests).
Quick question here - just installed 2x2gb and BIOS happily tells me that "Due to the amount of memory being assigned for system use, memory available is less than memory installed".
Which works out to Task Manager reporting only 3.3GB (Vista 64).
From what i remember, it means that d620's BIOS can't map devices above 4gb? I tried to find this option in the BIOS but couldn't. Maybe i missed something? I'm kinda disappointed since d620 is supposed to be more or less serious laptop.
I just recently purchased the HP Probook 450 G1. The laptop doesn't come with any OS installed so I intalled windows 7 64-bit. After installing all drivers I see in Device manager screen that my Display Adapters are
AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
but in the shop they said that my video adapter is AMD Radeon HD 8750M
My question is: are AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700 and AMD Radeon HD 8750M the same "things".

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. So, a few months ago, I got mad at my laptop and slammed the screen down. I think it was taking its sweet time shutting down or something. I can't remember. Anyway, the next time I tried to turn it on, it goes into Startup Repair, and then comes up with a screen of errors, namely "StartupRepairOffline", "Autofailover", "NoOSInstalled". I can go into advanced options and go into DOS command (it comes up to the X drive); I was able to successfully pull off stuff I wanted, but I'm thinking I damaged the hard drive. I've let this sit for awhile, using my daughters' laptop, but now I want mine back and want to repair it. What should I do first? Also, I don't think I have any startup disks or anything like that.
