View 2 RepliesI've a Dell Latitude d630 Laptop and I want to change several BIOS characteristics (Boot device order, etc)
The laptop service Tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> and I had the admin PSW: oqzbww34
Last year my son changed the admin BIOS pw and now I can't change this parameters (I can enter at BIOS but can't unlock setup to change boot order, etc..); the old admin pwd doesn't work now
I've opened the laptop and disconnected de CMOS battery but this didn't work
Is there a master pwd to unlock bios setup or a jumper in motherboard to reset admin pw?
I bought aDell Latitude E6410 laptop yesterday and every time it turns on it says no boot or something. So I push the enter button and it resets. Then when it shows the dell logo again I press F12 and go to the boot sequence and its set on cd drive and not the internal HDD. So I choose to redo that all over again and then press boot from internal HDD and it works no problem but its a lot to go through just to start a laptop. How can I figure out how to change the admin password so I can set the boot sequence right.

Back before Xmas, I had to reinstall the os so at the same time I changed the password for the hard disk that is set in the bios, before installing the os.
Problem is after the OS had installed and said it was shutting down to reboot, it never shut down properly so after 5-10mins I pushed the power button to force it to shut down.
Switched it back on, typed in the new hard disk password and it wouldnt accept it. Tried again but no success so tried the old hard disk password but even that didnt work. Anyway I've locked the hard disk now, not updated the bios or anything but wondered if there is anything I can do or Dell can do to unlock it?
Its an E6400 with the finger print scanner (can post the tag number) , I know its old laptop but still got all the receipts and everything to prove its not nicked and owned by the original owner.
Recently I purchased a Dell Latitude D830 motherboard as a replacement for the damaged one in my own system.
The seller didn't tell me that the system has a customized bios and a password, instead he announced it as 'password free'. The board is working and I can enter the BIOS but all settings are locked with a password.
As the seller refuses to take it back, I need to reset the system. The first owner of the board is known and I have the service tag ready. Is there any chance to reflash an original DELL BIOS and to reset the password(s)?
I purchased a Latitude D505 from a police auction and the BIOS setup is locked by password. It will not allow me change setups, such as system time.
Under system security it shows Primary Password unabled, Admin Password Enabled, Configure Setup Disabled and Configure Password enabled.
I need to clear these in order to setup new HDD and operating system.
If needed the present sys number is #6M81L51-595B
I am trying to install a hybrid HDD with solid state and a mechanical back-up. The SSD portion works but I can't run the HDD utilities to turn on the mechanical drive portion. I need to turn off RAID and activate AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) for HDD's in the Bios settings. It would also be nice to update my bios as the revisions come out. I need to override the Password...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up my laptop to use two (2) external monitors (both Dell monitors). I am using a Dell Latitude E6420 laptop that has an external VGA connection as well as an HDMI connection. I can currently use the laptop LCD screen as one display and an external monitor (either VGA or DVI) as the second, or I can use both external (VGA and DVI) as my extended output. But I am unable to get it to work with all three. Is this a hardward limitation? or Setup limitation? Do I need third party software to accomplish that?
The laptop is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
I have a Latitude E6420 that came without a Bluetooth card. Is it possible to add the Dell TrueMobile 375 Bluetooth module to this machine? I looked in the Service Manual for the 6420 but it did not show where the Bluetooh moduel cable the plugged into the motherboard. In fact, I opened the case and found the slot where the Bluetooth module would be mounted but did not see a place to plug in the cable.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI always put my laptop on standby and turn it off only when required. Today 4 hours after I left it on standby, I could wake him up from standby but could not see anything on screen which worked and all operating system sounds could be heard, hard drive worked as well. I tried powering it off and on, entering BIOS but I still could not see display. Here's a link to YouTube video that portrays what I see:

I later saw information here on how to access ePSA testing environment so I followed the steps: removed battery, plugged off power supply, pressed Power Button for 1 minute to drain power, held Fn key and powered laptop on until I heard funny sounds. This was ePSA probably but I still could not see anything on screen:

If I am not mistaken, my laptop was running on dedicated nVidia graphics card. What should I do now? Luckily I have customer on-site warranty still valid, but I am looking for a faster way to solve problem. Who knows, but it may be a mere problem of cable got lose which is in my abilities to fix.
I recently came to the same fate, Recently had my battery replaced by Dell which was wonderful n the mess up part is that I cannot get it charged on my Latitude E6420.
My flashing problem started when I had a power failure in my area while i had my note book on charge. I cant do anything without having to keep my notebook on charge. i doesnt start up without it being plugged in now n it doesnt even charge my new replacement battery.
I have the charger from here brought as a replacement for the original one, but when I plug it - the laptop works, but the battery it's not charging. The battery is 6-7 months old, was pretty good - lasts for more than an hour and a half, but it's not charging now.I have tried to enter the bios and stay there for about 2 hours but the battery does not charge..Or the charger it's not the good one?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a Dell TrueMobile 375 Bluetooth module in my Latitude E6420. I have read the instructions in the E6420 Service Manual but it is not obvious where the other end of the cable on the 375 Bluetooth module plugs into the motherboard. The images provided in the Service Manual are of no luck, as they only show where the module goes, not where the cable on the module plugs into a corresponding socket.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently had to reinstall my Latitude E6420 with Windows 7.
Afterwards, Audio and Video (having Spotify+a few Office apps running) start to lag.
I tried reinstalling the Machine again without success. I tried all driveres suggested on the Dell supportpage and I asked google which told me "Turn off eSATA and SpeedStep" [URL] .... which hadnt any success either.

I have Dell Latitude E6420 with Windows 7 OS installed.
The driver for Biometric device is also installed. But windows is not finding any biometric device as shown in the following picture message.
The above fails with an error "check for updates failed" in the gui.
Sometimes it determines the list of updates to get, but then fails to download those updates, sitting on the download screen and doing nothing.
Files are created C:UsersadrianAppDataLocalDellClientSystemUpdate emp but they never exceed 11.7MB.
when I dock my in my E-port docking station, my CPU usage will shoot up to 100%, and it may come down periodically to the 80s or 90s, which makes my laptop virtually unusable for anything. I tried a different power cord but it made no difference. Undocked, it works just fine, so it's obvious it's something wrong with the docking station.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have bought a bunch of Latitudes E7240 and deployed them with the new Dell Data Protection | Security Tools (DDP|ST).Now we have discovered that if you attempt to login with the wrong credentials the device (HDD) will be locked. This is expected as it is one of the purpose of having Disk encryption enabled BUT if a user accidentally lock the HDD by typing wrong credentials you would expect to be able to UNLOCK it with the admin password. (You create one when first enabling DDP|ST)
So, the user forgot he's credentials and the screen only shows "The device is locked, contact your administrator" and with NO OPTIONS what so ever! How do I, as the administrator unlock the HDD? Where do I type the admin password?
I have set an admin password for the BIOS of my dell inspiron e1505 laptop. I do know the password. But, is there some way for me to completely delete the password? Essentially I want to be able to access and change the BIOS settings without needin an admin password, the same way I used to before I set an admin password for the BIOS.
