View 10 RepliesThose of you who have an Intel 5100 Wireless card and the M4400, could someone tell me if you have 3 antenna connectors, even though the 5100 has just 1 antenna?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an E4300 and an E6400. The E6400 came with a 5530 WWAN chip, which I would like to move into my E4300 instead. When opening the WLAN/WWAN compartment of the E4300 however there does not seem to be any wiring for the GSM card.
I then found some antenna wires leading to the Latitude ON slot. Since I really doubt I will be getting a Latitude ON chip in the near future, would I be able to run these wires to the WWAN card?
I have not been able to exceed 100mbps speeds even with DIR-655 and DIR-825 on my M1330 with Intel 4965.
Opening the laptop I notice I do NOT have a gray wire!
I have 1 Black, 1 White, 1 Black/Gray Strip, 1 White/Gray Strip and one BLUE...
I checked the M1330 Manual there is no mention of a BLUE wire anywhere...
1) Anyone know what this blue wire is for? and Why I dont have a gray wire?
2) Should I move the 4965 (blue wire too short) and connect blue where in the gray wire is suppose to go?
I have an LED Screen ....
I have an M1330 with 2 years completecare left.
Would I lose my warranty if i open the laptop and add a 3rd antenna behind the LCD?
I have an LED screen so I only got two antennas!
I need a new one, my old one broke.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have ordered E6400 but I have choosen Intel 5100 wifi card with two antenna port. I heard that this model isn't very good so I'm thinking about the upgrade to Intel 5300 with 3 antenna ports. I have a question about the antenna cables. How many cables are there near the wifi card in latitude with 5100? two or three? If there are only 2 cables, so the upgrade brings me no advantage.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm upgrading my friends TM2200, and installing a Wifi card and antenna. The antenna needs to go inside the laptop cover (as you probably know), but there's a foil sheet inside behind the LCD screen.
Can anyone tell me if I just stick the antenna pads onto the foil, or do I need to remove small sections of the foil and stick them to the plastic?
It's a Tyco antenna I'm fitting.
I have a dv7-1020us, I'm needing to replace the tv antenna that came with it.
Dunno if they're all alike... but here is an image of what the side of mine looks like, where the antenna plugs into the yellow jack.

i just took a look at the first pics in the E6410 thread and found out that it comes without any UMTS antennas...
according to dell support webcam equipped models do not support umts cards like the dell 5530
is this true or is there a way to add the antennas later on?
This is what I am working with:
Computer rig:
Dell XPS M1710 Review (pics, specs)
Wireless card intel specs:

And I think this is the external antenna I would like to get (would love any suggestions):
5 dBi Magnetic Mount Omni Antenna - Omnidirectional Antennas for 2.4GHz - Antennas - Fleeman, Anderson & Bird, Corp.
The pdf says the wireless card antenna is, "Hirose* U.FL-R-SMT mates with cable connector U.FL-LP-066"
So basically is all I have to do is buy one of these, 4 inches U.FL Pigtail:U.FL to MMCX WiFi 2.4GHz 802.11g - eBay (item 160119011606 end time Apr-09-09 01:58:22 PDT)
Drill a hole in my laptop case and install one of these connected to the first adapter that is connected directly to the card:
MMCX to N-Male, Pigtail 19" 100-Series - CA-MMNMCN19
Now the n-female from the antenna can then connect to the now adapted laptop wireless external antenna?
I am presenting all of this as a question because I think this is what I need to do but I would like to double check with some knowledgeable people first that this can work, is feasible, will bring desired results (increased range) etc.
i just built an hd antenna and i was scanning for new channels and it was picking up some awesome channels and then i tripped over the cord and busted that little adapter that converts a normal coax cable to the mini one that plugs into the tv tuner.
anyone know the part number? I've looked everywhere online and can only find the partnumber for the antenna, not the adapter by itself. is this mini plug a standard? i even chatted with hp parts department and they were of no help.
I want to replace my 1810T's Intel Wifi Link 5100 with an Intel Wifi Link 5300.
The 5100 has two antenna connectors and so the 1810T has two antennas already installed in it.
I purchased a third antenna, but I don't want to disassemble the screen to add the third antenna next to the two stock antennas.
Can I just place the third antenna here (empty area next to mini PCIe slot):
I was upgrading the graphics card and the plastic lid on my e1505, I had to disconnect the WLAN antenna connectors, and this gave me a chance to see how the antenna is connected to the card.
It got me thinking...Instead of having a wire antenna run up the side of the LCD screen, what about buying a better-quality (higher reception) "rod antenna" with a folding elbow hinge? I thought since the WLAN card is seated so close to the right side of the laptop case..
it would be possible to connect the two pigtail connectors to the WLAN card as normal then drill a small hole through the casing on the side of the laptop casing where the card is, run a few centimeters of the wires through it, and mount the antenna flush to the side of the laptop case (with either screws or maybe even super glue, if you could find a good spot where it wouldn't block any inputs/seams)...............................
Will the Dell Latitude D830 have any trouble supporting an Intel WiFi Link 5300 WLAN card?
I know its a generation newer than my laptop but the interface is the same so it should work without any issues, right?
Im basically looking for a wireless g stable, low power, wlan card that will work with this laptop and think the wifi link 5300 may fit the bill.
A friend of mines Inspiron 1521 keeps getting a Dell Wireless WLAN error when windows vista home premium loads. No matter how I try to get into widows (normal or safemode) all I get is a black screen.
No taskbar, start menu, nothing, nada, zip. I found this thread that tells me what the issue is but I can't get to device manager to either uninstall the driver or update it .....
Has anyone else gotten this same alert? "WLAN Card Utility has encountered a problem and needs to close." Every so often I get this message, my computer is fine and my wireless is also fine, I just get that message. I have the 1395 mini-card, if that makes a difference.
Also, I have noticed that my wireless signal gets dropped sometimes for no reason. It might be the routers fault but I'm not sure.
after months of overheating, i've decided finally to open my e1705 to clean it up.
following the offcial guide, i've came to the WLAN cables, and I don't know how to remove them. I'm afraid of doing it wrong.
I've tried to pull them up gently, but didn't work.
here's a pic :
My Broadcom 802.11 b/g shows up on the Taskbar (Compaq 515 Win7 HomePro 64 bit) as a removable device just like a jumpdrive. Is this normal? I 'safely remove' the device and my wireless connection goes off for a minute then comes back up (according to my HP Wireless Assistant). No harm, no foul, it just seems odd.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HP 255 G2 Notebook PC with the product number F0Z56EA, running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.Â
I installed the OS and the drivers for the laptop just a few days ago. Everything is running fine, except that the WLAN option is not displayed anywhere and I cannot connect the laptop to my wifi.
Â
When I open the device manager, it shows "other devices" with a question mark and underneath "Network Controller" with a yellow exclamation mark.

I tried installing the Qualcomm network driver for my model, but during installation, the message "Device cannot be found, installation terminated" is being shown.
Aftera clean Vista Installation on my Vaio Z11WN/B my Wlan doesnt work! Can you help me? In the device manager is no driver for the network controller and the hsdpa globetrotter modem and the notebook cant find any driver on the internet!
View 10 Replies View Relatedim having a problem with my 1525 inspiron laptop, which i have had for a couple of years. The problem started when installed windows 7. My wireless minicard stops working anytime i try playing an online game. The mouse starts freezing and then the wireless card would stop working. The only way can it working again is to reboot the laptop or put it to sleep the start it up again.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have installed a V-lited version of vista onto my acer aspire one, but cant get the Lan to work or the Wlan, the Wlan doesnt even show up in the device manager and i cant find drivers for it as i dont know wat module it is.
Does anyone know which wireless card it is or were i can find drivers for the wlan?
Also i cant find a driver for the ethernet controller.
I tried to upgrade the wlan module in my Acer TravelMate 4233WLMi from the original Intel 3945abg mini-pci module to the Intel 4965abn mini-pci.
Windows Vista immediately recognised the new module, installed the drivers and noted the the new interface is now up and running and ready for use.
In fact it's not - the wlan-led on the front of the notebook stays dark - when I tried to switch it on via the front panel switch the notebook displays "no wlan module found".
The device manager in Vista still displays it as up and running.
I put in the original module again and the switch, led and wlan works again.
So my question is whether I received a faulty 802.11n module or whether the 4965abn is simply incompatible with the Acer 4233WLMi ...
I have a VERY short question, But it is VERY hard to find an answer on the net!
I want a WLAN card Mini PCI Express for the 7520G-604G25Bi.
Which card is 100% compatible?
It has to be a card with N-Draft.
FYI: Laptop has AMD Turion Processors.
Recently the WLAN on my Vaio Z27GN started acting up. The slightest touch on the laptop internally disconnects (or shorts) the WLAN hardware that totally disappears from the device manager. Usually a few gently tapings on the back and a reboot fix it.
The problem has gotten worse to the point that now its gone forever. It is clearly a short, a loose wire or something connecting/disconnecting the hardware. This has nothing to do with the front sliding switch to turn on/off the wireless.....
I have recently performed a clean install of windows 7 on my Acer TravelMate 5520G which used to run Vista. The whole process took the best part of 15 min...
All works *very* well apart from the orange WLAN LED at the front of the laptop (next to the bluetooth LED). WiFi functions fine and so does the WLAN switch. Except for the strange fact that when WLAN is ON the LED is OFF and when WLAN is switched OFF the LED comes ON!
The 802.11g network adapter driver installed is that of Broadcom version 5.30.21.0. Installing LaunchManager does not solve the problem.
Of course not a major problem, but the LED used to indicate WiFi connection status by flashing on&off, pretty handy.
how to go forward to get it to work as per normal?
to turn your Vaio Notebook into an Wlan Accesspoint. This is a Feature from Windows7, not from Sony itself.
You need:
- Windows 7
- newest Intel Wlan Drivers
- Some Information i will put in this posting
This will work with many other Wlan Hardware, you mostly have to Upgrade your Wlan Driver, and have a look that he will support this feature.
1.) Download the Driver:
Intel® WiFi Link 5300 and Intel® WiFi Link 5100 productsIntel® PRO/Wireless and WiFi Link Drivers-Only for Windows 7*
2.) Install the Driver
3.) Setup your Accesspoint:
Start -- Run --- cmd.................
I just bought a refurbished Elitebook 2530p that didn't come with a wireless card, so I bought a "Broadcom 4322AGN 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN adapter (Sangria) - For use in Most of World (MOW)". This WLAN card was listed on HP's parts page for the 2530p here.
However, when I installed it and connected the antennas, the computer doesn't recognize it at all when booting up. It doesn't even acknowledge the presence of a new device.
I just bought hp 14-d037tu, I am using win 7 64bit, i downloaded all the driver from the hp support site, but there is one problem with the wlan driver.
