One of my GPUs is gone - my Windows 7 only sees on 8800M GTX (I have 8800M GTX in SLI). It has been gone since I applied an SLI patch from EVGA. My idle temperature for the GPU is about 75 degree celsius...
Do you guys know what is wrong with it?
The laptop's warranty expired about 3 months ago.
I have an inspiron 1720 which came equipped with an Nvidia 8600m GT. I have had it for a few months but recently found that my laptop says that I do not have a graphics card.
I went to Personalization>Display Settings>Adapter and found that it said my chip type: <unavailable> The same for adapter type, DAC type etc.
Also it said that my total graphics memory was <unavailable> and that my dedicated video memory etc was N/A.
The Nvidia hybrid SLI settings has disappeared from the vista power settings. I've tried and reinstall motherboard and graphics card drivers but it did not help. How do I get it again?
Are there other programs to switch on and off for hybrid sli?
So after installing the new 185 drivers a couple of weeks ago, I turned on SLI, restarted, and forgot about it.
Now I just checked the nvidia panel and there is no option to turn on SLI. I went to device manager and only one 8800m gtx is listed there when there used to be 2... seems like the computer doesn't even see the second GPU.
tried reinstalling the drivers but still only one gpu is showing up...
My Dell trackpad/touchpad control app has disappeared. I can't figure out how to get it back. I tried [URL] .... I also find a link on other posts with the same question, but got an error. I've noticed that my battery meter/AC power icon has disappeared from my system tray. I'm not sure how to make it reappear. I'm not even sure how it suddenly disappeared in the first place. The reason why I want this icon to always be there is so that I can tell how much battery power I have left on my laptop. Also, when I am charging my laptop battery and letting my laptop run on AC power, the battery icon turns into the AC power icon.How do I get it to reappear? Is the icon part of the Dell Quickset program/software? I'm not sure. I have an Inspiron 1520.

To top it off, my volume indicator seems to have disappeared.
Just the other day, I was using the fingerprint reader in my EliteBook, when it suddenly refused to log me into the pre-boot authentication; I had to use a password, instead. Now, it seems my fingerprint reader has (electrically) ceased to exist -- it doesn't appear in device manager under Windows or in lsusb under Linux, and the option to "Swipe Finger or Choose Token" at the preboot authentication screen. Does anyone know what would cause this? The first candidate I can think of is the motherboard.
In addition, my system has started behaving oddly when resuming from suspend -- most of the time, resuming from suspend results in the laptop hard-rebooting about 1/2 second later, and then loop back to the BIOS logo a couple of times before going on and booting.
My question: do I just have to send it in for repair, or is there something else I can do?
When I bought the laptop customized, HP did not offer the option for a webcam; ideally, I'd really like to just pay them the difference and have them add a webcam while they're taking the thing apart, anyway. Is there any way to get HP to do this? If anything, they could probably just swap the GPU with another laptop (a preconfigured one with same specs, but nvidia), so I'd have the same specs with ATI, and now a webcam.
Customer is saying that MS one note has disappeared from Notebook after reinstall of the OS and saying he has not installed one note separately. He has just installed MS office 2007. He wants to know how one note was install in the Notebook.

I have an older HP Pavilion dv 9000, with Windows 7. I was attempting to watch a video and noticed that the sound was muted. So, initially, I tried to turn it up, but it seemed locked. It had never done that before, so after several failed attempts, the mute sign disappeared and now it's just a red x, and when I go in to check it, it tells me that there is no sound hardware installed. I tried to install a new driver from your website but it is still not working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that the green hotkeys volume bar has disappeared from two R500’s (2714-CTO) that I own. Both are running Windows 7 professional. One is running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit, while The other is running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. The 64 bit machine has just been re-imaged from a set of original Lenovo supplied recovery DVD’s. The reload process installed Norton Internet Security (2009). After the re-load was complete, I installed Windows 7 SP1 from an original Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 DVD. Next, I manually installed the latest version of Update Retriever and System Update, turned on the antenna for the first time, and ran System Update to update all Lenovo drivers.
The other machine has been running Windows 7 professional 32 bit since being purchased in 2009. It has never been re-imaged, and the green volume bar was working until recently.
Both are currently running Hotkey Features Integration V3.89.0000, and Lenovo Power Management V1.67.04.05.
which software, and which version of that software, is needed to get that functionality back.

I have setup this brand new laptop, pre-installed with Windows 8.1, for my sister-in-law who bought it. The installation went well BUT the 16GB USB device which I purchased as advised by the Acer literature to store the recovery partition was not big enough, the physical capacity being 14.4GB. The Acer book says use a 16GB device or larger so I did. I naively thought that a USB drive which was labelled 16GB would be appropriate. Not so. I have had to buy a larger one but am still awaiting delivery.
I therefore decided to image the whole HDD to save the work I had done but found that the Acronis Backup and Recovery DVD would not boot. I went into the setup utility and adjusted the Boot settings to legacy and changed device priority. Acronis would not run so I did not continue. I went back into the setup utility, used F9 to restore the default and found to my astonishment that the DUAL boot option had now disappeared and the Windows Boot option had also vanished.
This means that this £800 laptop is now unusable. The setup utility self-reconfigured without warning. Nowhere is there any advice or warning not to use the setup utility in case it erases features which cannot be recovered by using F9 to recover the default configuration. If this is not a serious design fault, I don't know what is.
I am deeply worried because the idea of a BIOS setup utility behaving this way seems so improbable. How is it that the setup utility has been designed to self-harm like this?

I use a few SSDs in the ultrabay and used to swap through them by just ejecting the one currently in use and plugging in another one. However, since Wondows 8.1 update I haven.t been able to do so, as I have to turn off the machine and change the drives.
I believe it has something to do with the OS set up. How to enable the hot swapping capability of the ultrabay?
On hp pavilion dv7-1232nr the sound volume signal that appears on the screen any time the volume is adjusted is not functioning as before ! is there any point or option that is being clicked on or off to disable this signal !

Previously, I have always been able to go into Manage Audio Devices to choose the HDMI option but today that option has disappeared. Nothing has changed with my TV or my cable and all of my video and audio drivers are up to date.
