I have a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with Windows xp, and I would like to completely format the harddrive and reinstall Windows, but I do not have the original disks that came with the laptop.
I do have disks for a Dell desktop computer. I'm not worried about the drivers, as I have them backed up, but is it possible to use these other disks to reinstall windows on this laptop and use this computers windows key?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion g7-1205ev laptop with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. I bought a new hard drive so I had to install Windows again. After the installation the laptop can't connect to the internet either by wifi either by Ethernet. After trying troubleshooting it says that windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter.
At the device Manager I can see that there is an exclamation mark to these exact components:
Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
BCM20702AO
Ethernet Controller
Network Controller
PCI Device
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Can I download all these from somewhere ? And of course I will download them to another PC as my laptop doesn't go online at all. I also tried to run Ubuntu from a flash drive on my laptop and the Ubuntu uses the Internet just fine.
I've recently get support from HP team and installed my original windows 7 home premium using my product key. Then installed updates of Wireless, Internet and Home Network, but within a short period, my laptop get stuck and no keyboard could not work at all except power on/off button. Then I installed my original windows 7 home premium and it was, I can access although I could not installed any other programs and my personal ducoment.

I have a HP 15 Notebook PC with no dvd drive recently I was sent the system recovery cds from HP. I dont have an external dvd drive. What i do have is a Toshiba Satelight laptop with Widows 7 and a good dvd drive. Also I have a 500 GB external hard drive. I was thinking maybe I could copy the disks onto the external harddrive with the Toshiba dvd drive. Then attach the external hard drive to my HP 15 Notebook by usb port and install Hp recovey disks from the external hard drive.

Do i need the recovery partition or can i delete it?

a week ago, my hard drive broke on my XPS m1530. I called Dell support and they told me that they'll sent a new one.

I received the new hard drive. I installed it on the pc, installed window vista home premium. (This is the 1st time that I install a computer)
Then, I tried to connect to internet by wireless and it failed. It said "This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured" However, I don't have any disk for installing wireless network adapter. The pc had everything installed when i bought it.
I also noticed the graphic card monitor became "(default monitor) on standard vga graphic adapter". Im sure that I had a geforce 8600 graphic card when i had my old hard drive. So, Im guessing I did something wrong or the pc don't recognize it
i was always looking for a good solution to create an ISO of your hard drive.
this way, after a clean xp & drivers istall, you can save this image to a usb-hdd/usb-stick/CDs/DVDs/etc. and everytime your system needs to be reinstalled (virus, slowdowns, registry messed up, ...) you can save yourself the endless installation/sp2 download/driver search and simply play back the clean windows in about 1 hour.
there is commercial software like trueimage, which does that. and norton ghost, which i hate, as i hate symantec software and this tool is not really good.
and there is a freeware tool, which is named "driveimage xml".
very simple to use and it works great:

you simply click "back up", choose the path to the destination you want and wait
a few minutes.
when pushing big files and not choosing the option "split large files", remember, that
your destination harddisk has to be formated with ntfs, as you can't push files bigger
than 4 GB to fat32 formated drives at once.
the only thing you have to do is create a boot cd with an operating system on it,
so you can restore your image to the system hdd.
i used the freeware bart pe to do this:

you only have to transform your xp cd with it to become an operating system
cd. and insert the plugin for driveimage xml (available on the runtime.org homepage), so you can run driveimage xml when booting from cd.
I formatted my HDD and now every time I try to install Windows 7 it says Missing Boot Manager!! Is there a certain sequence I need to go through to attempt this as in HDD Password?

I tried pressing f8 and control+f11 but neither of those work. I also tried reinstalling my windows 7 but after it says "starting windows" it just goes to a black screen with a curser. I made a factory image usb flash drive on a 32GB stick by using the backup & recovery software that came pre-installed. I also updated that software to the latest version available. However, when recovering from the flash drive it gives an error code 0x400110020000100A and does not restore Windows on the SSD. The SSD is formatted as NTFS (or FAT32 tried both) and can be read by the laptop if connected thru' a USB port. So, I know that the SSD is working and good.
I have a Dell Latitude E6410. I recently installed created a linux partition on my HDD but was not interested in keeping it. Anyway after I uninstalled this OS, the space allocated to it on the HDD was turned into unallocated space. I have been unable to merge it with my primary partition. What I wanted to ask was that if I perform a reinstall of my original OS(Windows 7 Professional), will I be able to recover the original partitions and how can it be done?

When i connect the new Dell 90w Adaptor when laptop is Off the indicator turns white colour with blinking. I kept charger for more than 3 hours still the white light battery indicator with blinking.

I Have a HP DV6T QUAD and reinstalled Windows 7. When I touch the volume on my keyboard to increase or decrease the volume, it would appear on the screen for 1 second. Now after reinstalling, it doesn't show on the screen anymore when I touch the volume increase decrease on my laptop.
