I have recently purchased Dell Studio 1558 second hand. On pressing the power button the laptop is beeping continuously for 6 times stops and starts beeping continuously again for 6 times and stops beeping...screen blank....From the dell studio 1558 manual available online I think it is a Video Card Failure. Is this a video card failure?
View 6 RepliesMy Dell Studio 1555 won't start anymore. When I want to turn it on, I get a beeping signal (2 beeps) and nothing happens. I tried all possible troubleshooting tips from the dell website (disconnecting all power and hold power button, reconnect to power, checked battery with the button on the battery, all fine, can't get into bios because computer doesn't start at all) but nothing works. Recently I also checked if the motherboard is connected properly and there is no issue either.
I also purchased a new dell adapter because my old one was a little bit damaged. The adapter is like the old one, and it's originally dell and the correct one for the studio 1555 so it can't be the adapter. Laptop also doesn't start when the battery is not in and it's only connected to the power.
I got my laptop three or four years ago and today the screen just stopped working. First it faded white, then it came back on but faded black/white and now is not working at all. It stays black through startup and when it reaches the login page it is just a bunch of vertical lines.

"Launch start up repair"Â

"Start windows Normally"
I tried both the option at two different times but its not fixing the error or starting windows normally and its stuck at "Starting Windows" screen. Then I tried to use F12 - Boot option- Diagnostics for which I am getting the following errors:
"Error code 0142Msg: Error Code:200-0142Msg: Hard Drive 0 - self test unsuccessfulStatus:79"

I have a Studio 1558 laptop, about 3 years old and a couple of weeks ago it stopped working.
When I press the power button (both on battery and on mains supply) the power button lights up white and stays white and my backlit keyboard lights up. I can hear the fan whirring but thats all that happens. It will stay like this for ever until I press the power button and it then shuts down instantly. There is no BIOS screen and I get no POST beeps.
I've tried plugging it into my TV as an alternative monitor but there's still nothing. I've checked the hard drive and swapped it for a new one but it still makes no difference. I've checked the memory and that's fine. If i try to boot up with the memory removed I do get two beeps.
Was working fine. When I turn the machine on it freezes on the dell splash screen about 60% threw. When the hard drive is out the computer boot fine. (obviously no OS though). The hard drive is also making a beeping noise. Dell said they would send me a new hard drive, but I want to know what caused this as of yesterday when I received it I did a diagnostics and the hard drive was in perfect condition. These things happened today could they have caused it?
1) Laptop did not go to sleep in my backpack and was totally on for about 15min. (Overheat?)
2) Windows froze today and I had to hold down the power button to turn it off.
3) I had used another Dell power supply to power my machine as I did not have the regular cord, but it worked while attached and this problem did not happen till around 30-40min later after it had been unplugged.
I have a problem with my Dell XPS L701X, I bought it 1 year ago. But since a few days my laptop Beep's 8 times at the start-up. when it does I ussualy just power off my laptop because of the annoying sound, and turn it back on. Once I powered it on and off for 3-4 times it doesn't beep anymore an works fine. I already searched the internet and I found that someting could be wrong with the GPU or something. And it said I had to hold down the D button at start-up so I could check if my colors where right.

However i changed the coin cell battery twice and nothing change still beeps. So i updated the BIOS but unfortunately didn't work. View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.

My dell Inspiron 15R (5521) is no longer working. Â It started one day when we my wife was using the laptop and it started beeping and shut down. Â I thought it was the battery because when I plugged in the AC adapter the light on the end of the AC adapter plug would go out. Â I figured the battery was shorted. Â I bought a new battery and it took about 5 days to come in. Â After a day or so I tried using the laptop again with the original battery and it worked. Â When the new battery came in I swapped them out and after 3-4 days it failed again. Â Now it doesn't work at all with either battery. Â It will turn on but the screen is black. Â I tried booting it up while holding down the Fn key to go into diagnostic mode. Â After the fan kits on I get a sequence of beeps and tones. Â I've attached a video to show you the sequence. Â Basically it has 6 beeps than 10 beeps than 3 sets of 3 beeps followed by a tone than it does the 3 sets of 3 beeps again and again.

I have a dell inspiron n5040 . Its only 1 month old.since 2days ago everytime i try to turn it on all i get is a blank screen with audio of 7 beeps a pause then 7 more and so on. I have read a few posts about taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 secs and also trying with just the ac power, I don't think this works for my problem. I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. The only thing plugged in to it is my charger and the last time I used it I didn't even have internet I just watched a few shows that I had on it and then I closed it when it was running out of power. When I hit the power button it seems like its going to start, and the buttons on it light up and then it starts to beep four times then a break then repeated four times. Nothing appears on the screen.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was about to do a factory restore on my computer later in the day, but i was unlucky that the computer stopped working When i turn it on it continuously beeps and won`t turn on, i have picked the option to `start windows normally` and even the option that checks/diagnoses the files (to fix the problem not letting me startup) but when it says `loading files` it starts beeping again and the process stops..

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their Studio 1558 orders? I ordered on 23/02 and the EDD was 09/03, but it's now been put back to the 01/04!
The only custom components I requested were the FullHD WLED screen and the backlit keyboard. I have to say I'm not very impressed!
