remember reading that the SXPS 16 has a Synaptics supported touchpad or something in it, meaning you can use some multi-touch gestures like pinch zoom etc. Can anyone clear this up for me? Do you have to do anything to enable the additional gestures? Will i need to download some more drivers or something (i haven't gotten my laptop yet.) What gestures will i be able to do with (or without) the driver (if there is one.)
My touch pad driver recently stopped working the other day. I had not noticed because I always use my VX Nano, but I was out of the house with the laptop for once and had no pointing device when I booted up.
I re-downloaded the Synaptics driver that I had installed previously, but it didn't work. I had to install the Dell driver to get it to work, but on install I noticed it saying it was an Alps, not a Synaptics.
What gives with this? I even remember seeing other posts on here saying to forgo the Dell driver when installing windows and to use the Synaptics driver............................
Anyone know something about if dell xps at least that ones sold in 2008 will support those new drivers with gesture control??
I know its a really soon but it says that it already has support for it.. and checking the driver section the drivers there are from last December. Dell support has nothing new neither.
Is there any way to disable the "click" feature on the main part of the touchpad? Like if I tap my finger on the touch pad I do not want it to act as if I had left-clicked...
I am really curious if any other 1340/1640 users have run into a similar situation.
The problem:
when typing on the lappy, sometimes the text jumps to wherever the I beak of the cursor is. At first i thought i was accidentally touching the touchpad with the base of my thumb, but now i'm sure thats not the case
I've already tried uninstalling dells drivers, using the drivers from synaptics website, changing the sensitivity of the touch pad, using the touchpad with no drivers at all (windows drivers only)...
I recently bought Dell Inspiron 15 5547 with Ubuntu.
When I installed Windows 7, I receive error message "Synaptics TouchPad 64-bit Enhancements has stopped working." Wen I close this my touchpad start working erratically. While typing cursor moves itself without touch or click.
The driver given on Dell site under Windows 7 is same as for Windows 8. I also tried drivers from Synaptics website but nothing worked.
I have a Vaio SR 190 and i'm trying to use the Google Code for two finger scrolling. I have a synaptics touchpad v7.0 with Driver 10.2.4
I have Chiralmotion and momentum enabled but the google code program keeps saying "Driver support for multiple fingers is already enabled but the driver still doesn't report multiple fingers
I have an HP Pavilion 14-b130sa, running windows 8. Last night I switched my laptop off after using it all day for writing an essay, when I then turned the laptop back on about 3 hours later, I could no longer scroll using the touchpad. My laptop won't let me run or look at the synaptics 7.5 drivers or any of the files, as it just says they cannot be found.
I have tried re-installing the drivers, but this does not seemed to have worked.
Somehow my Synaptics Touchpad on my Compaq V2000 (Model 2402) got zapped today and will not power on at all. This is different than the usual driver problem that makes you think it is turned off. I was tightening up a screw that is close to the pad itself while it was running and the notebook suddenly just turned off. Everything is fine but the touchpad will not power on. It was getting pretty useless regardless. I have been using a regular usb mouse most of the time for almost a year now but still need the touchpad for the obvious. ANyone here replace their pad? I haven't found one used or new yet.
I got this Aspire 5560G about three years ago and it was running Windows 7. I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and have managed to find and install all the drivers I need for my lapop to run smoothly, except for the touchpad.
Although it works for moving the cursor and double-tapping to open files etc, it doesn't work to scroll pages. I have tried downloading the latest driver on the Acer Drivers page but it doesn't change any features.
So since I've bought this computer I've had problems with the two-finger scrolling suddenly stopping, like many people have. That's always been fixable by going into properties, device settings, settings, unchecking/rechecking one of the boxes under "two finger scrolling" and hitting OK.
Now, though, my touchpad is suddenly stuck on one finger scrolling, and it's super annoying. There is no "one finger scrolling" option under the "scrolling" drop down thingy under device settings, so I haven't a clue why this is happening. I've tried the usual fix above, restarting the computer, installing new drivers, but it still does one finger scrolling. Which means it scrolls a lot of the time when I don't want it to, and the pointer seems to get "stuck" at times when I'm just trying to move it around.
I have three user profiles in my Compaq Presario CQ-42, one is administrator and others are "Other User". When I fisrt saw the synaptics touch pad settings window through my first "Other User" profile 1, in Mouse Properties->Device Settings->Synaptics LuxPad V7.4->Settings, all the options in this window were available for selection and no one was diabled. Now when I go to "Administrator" Profile, Some of the options in this settings window are disabled and appear to be partly hidden. Like the option "Enable Pinch Zoom in Pinch Zoom section" and "Enable Pivot Rotate in Rotating" appears to be hidden/disabled.
For verifying this, I created the another "Other user" profile 2 but no success and I found the same problem here also. I also tried to unistall the synaptics driver several times from all the profiles but every time I re-installed them and checked to get the same result. The settings were only accessible for "Other User" Profile 1 each time and were disable for Administrator profile and "Other User" Profile 2. I can produce the snaps of same if required.
i have tried to installed the apps but i cant. the hp support assistant warned me that an important action was needed and on opening to check on the action, i found out that the synaptics touchpad and the realtek local area network had failed to install. both were on the failed items sections and i then redownloaded them through the same hp support assistant. the process went on smoothly and then stopped on the installation section. both the apps are now displayed in the conpleted actions and failed actions boxes. how can i successfully install these programmes?
just recently discovered this new driver for the 1340 (should work for the 1640 as well) and it brings A LOT of new gestures/features.
I'm not going to list out all of the new features/gestures you can do, but I've taken a screen shot of the configuration window for the touchpad to give you an idea of what it provides.
Also, I know you can enable some of these things with 3rd party apps, but now its integrated so if you're still using the Dell Driver, you're missing out!
I recently ordered a SXPS 16 and have a potentially silly question about the touchpad.
For when I want to play a game and need to use a USB mouse is there a way to disable the touchpad like I can with my current ASUS G2S laptop?
Nothing is more annoying when trying to play a game and having inadvertant mouse clicks and movement because I can't or forgot to disable the touchpad while using a mouse.
I have got dell studio 1535. After a couple of days I noticed that my mouse cursor is moving very erratic. E.G. If you touch touchpad and move cursor in circle it's like jaming / stopping every 5 seconds for 0.5 sec.
I have done diagnostic, I reinstalled vista,Ubuntu, XP still this same.
I have driver version 15.0.9 on Synaptics which has the two finger scrolling, three finger flick/press. But I've seen pictures of people with three finger drag(such as top/bottom/left/right of screen to open anything) and pinch zoom. I've tried a few driver versions and can't find which one has both.
So the question is, which driver version has all that I mentioned?
i have had this refurblished laptop for a few months now and recently it has developed a problem. When the touchpad plays up it will not respond and occasionaly will jump all over the place making it impossible to use.
It has been doing this for a few weeks usually about once a day which i thought was completley random, although about 5 minutes ago I discovered unplugging the charger solves the problem.
Is there a way to "re-cushion" or do something to make the "press" of the button more with a nice, comfortable, normal distance press versus a small dull short distance press.
Basically my left touchpad button has worn down and isn't as "springy" as my right touchpad button which acts like new due to relatively less use.
If I told suppot at dell that the button was like this do you think they would repair it and if so how would they do it?
Do they have to remove the whole plate around the keyboard or something? Because that looks really set in.
I've had my Dell Studio 15 (1535) for nearly a year now, problem free. But last night, my touchpad moving extremely choppy,
and my CPU/RAM meters (on Vista) were at nearly 50%, sometimes even spiking higher; I've never seen them that high before.
Here's what was going on when it happened. I was using Facebook Chat, which I don't believe was the problem, but what I believe started it was when i tried to turn up the volume using the touch sensitive media keys at the top, and hit play on iTunes. When i went to turn the volume up,
it froze for about 30 seconds, and then turned the volume all the way up, and now none of my media keys work, my keyboard barely works, and my touchpad/mouse buttons don't work at all!
I immediately noticed after working sometimes the touchpad area, specially the right hand top corner becomes alarmingly hot and I feel burning sensation on my finger tips.
It is the area where WLAN.WPAN,WI-LAN are present. There is also an Intel chipset, perhaps IO controller.
I immediately called DELL technical support and they sent me the DELL engineer. After monitoring the system for sometimes he decided to replace the motherboard, heat sink, fan assembly and thermal pad.
After replacement I am finding the scenario haven't changed and this time along with touchpad the mid area of keyboard is also getting warm.
There is no "dell touchpad" tab in my mouse settings which I could use to enable/disable the touchpad in various ways. I installed the driver below which was given to me on this forum, I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
I have been using a Dell Studio 1558. However, for the last 2 days, my Dell touch-pad has not been working. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers. I have taken the drivers from the driver disks that came with my laptop as well as the drivers from the dell website.
I have also tried using system restore to roll back to a time much before the problem had started to appear. This has not resolved the problem as the touch-pad is still not working.
On checking in the Device Manager, the device is not normally visible. when all hidden devices are seen, the Dell Touch-pad icon appears with a yellow exclamation mark.
The error code shown is "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)"
I have tried to update the driver from the device properties, but i get a message that the latest driver is already installed.
