View 10 RepliesYet when i checked, their XPS laptops M1330 and M1530 something like that sucks, they had crappy video cards and yet last i checked you need a good video card.
Not to mention it seems like their XPS laptops are outdated and overpriced.
So what makes Dell so special in gaming laptops?
I've uploaded a video of the sound here (it's about 8/9 seconds in):
Boot Sound
I've owned the laptop for just over 2 years now and i've had this problem pretty much for as long as I can remember, I "think" it's the optical drive but I can't be sure, I also thought the problem might be because the drive was ahead of the hard drive in the boot options but that isnt the case
I have a new M1530 and I just have a couple of minor issues.
Firstly, the harddrive always makes noises (like it is thinking) even when the computer is idle. It's not loud and just sounds like normal access sounds, but it makes a little noise every 2 seconds or so. Is this normal and can I make it stop? Like I said, the noise sounds like a normal HD noise, but it just never shuts up.
Finally, has anyone had problems connecting to wireless networks in vista? I have connected my laptop to 2 networks already and it was fine, but now when I try and connect to my main network, it asks for "additional log on information", including a username, password and domain. I don't have this info and have only ever used a WEP key...
Ok About a month ago I installed Windows 7 installed Everest and after I did the mouse would freeze intermittently, etc. Well Everest was updated a lot and after I did a fresh install yesterday I installed the newest version of Everest.. Still the mouse freezing is STILL present, both with the touch pad and mouse.
Is anyone else having this issue with their SXPS 16? I've tried 2 different versions one older one new of Everest and 2 separate installs of Windows 7.
I just downgraded my xps m1330 to window xp. It seems to be running well. But whenever I connect the power cord to the laptop, everything slows down. It takes way more time to load the window
View 6 Replies View RelatedIt's recently been making noises, it happened before and I thought it was not a big deal. Until now, it keeps making noises and then freezes the whole laptop. I had to press power button and waited like 2 or 3 minutes for it to restart. It always happened while i'm playing online games then it freezes... i don't know how to check the fan or temperature of my lap top all i know is when i touch it sometimes its hot...my laptop is dell xps 15 (L502X).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. I find it jumps back in my typing either several words or lines and types from there.
I seem to hit two keys simultaneously and it makes the email send. Usually these are the keys g & h and have also seen it happen when connecting with the letter B.
Anyone know why this laptop keyboard does this and how can I stop it?
first off my studio 1537 is 3 months old, so i cant return it. Secondly, when i plug in my laptop at around 70-90 percent it makes a wierd sound. So i unpluged the battery and the sound is gone. Is it a bad battery?

View 12 Replies View RelatedLast month I got a Inspiron 3520 for my daughter and have had nothing but trouble with it. When I plug it in to the router I get download speeds of 35-45 mbps, when I check speed using the wireless connection they range from 11 mbps down to less than 1! It is not the drivers, the power settings, the router as I have followed all of the "fixes" suggested in other threads and run through a 2 hour session with the Dell online chat rep which ended when he had to reboot the machine and the link to return to the chat that he left on my desktop was invalid.
If I move our other HP laptop to the same location (less than 5 feet from the wireless router) that gets download speeds of 25-30 so I am sure it is not the wireless signal. Also we have iPads and smartphones that all work just fine from anywhere in the house. I have tested the Dell speed when there is no one else home and all other devices are turned off and it is terrible. I know this is not a top of the line laptop but I expect it to work at least well enough to be functional. Based on my reading of this and other sites, I am making a guess that the wireless card is faulty.
my laptop is 1 week old and the fan constantly switches on and off, its under no load just idling, its a very loud and annoying problem, when I spoke to Dell they claim to have no knowledge of the problem, how can this be when a search shows up plenty on the subject.
they sent a technician out with a new fan but did not bother to replace because it will not solve the problem.
they are sending a new replacement, but I think it will have the same problem.
its a shame because I love the XPS, Dell need to get there act together and solve the problem.
my laptop came with latest bios and still has fan problem.
My Dell XPS L502 laptop is 1 year, 3 months old. It is 8G and came with an Intel Core i5-2430M 2.4GHz. My company is currently in a 24 month lease agreement with Dell. I went to turn the laptop on and it wouldn't turn on. I pressed the power button a few times and eventually it booted up and ran fine (in hindsight it may have been a little slower than usual but I had just downloaded a bunch of high resolution pictures so thought that could have been the issue).
I left my desk for lunch and upon my return, the laptop wouldn't come out of sleep mode - it was like it powered down on its own. I tried tturing it on again by pressing the power button but it wouldn't boot. Each time I pressed the power button, the light on the power button would flash and there would be a single click noise (the noise sounds like it is coming from the DVD player but I am unable to open the DVD player).
I took out the battery, put the battery back in - still wasn't able to turn the laptop on. I than took out the battery and just had it plugged into the outlet and after another 7 attempts of hitting the power button (and experiencing that single click with each push), the laptop booted successfully. I tried opening up a program (Quickbooks) to back it up and the computer froze (not responding to CTL+ALT+DEL) and eventually went into sleep mode. I haven't been able to get the computer to boot since. The keyboard does not light up but the little light in the middle of the power button does each time I press it, which is always than accompanied by a single click noise, which is coming from the right side of the keyboard, close to the DVD player.
I'm starting customising my new Latitude E5550 laptop.
After turning on Bitlocker I noticed that when I shut down the laptop, it goes to sleep. Even if I logoff first then request a shutdown it still just goes to sleep. I can request a restart which does work - it restarts, but a shutdown still makes it go to sleep. I can hold the power button to force it off. Doing that or when requesting a restart, the laptop starts back up but I find that the laptop goes into Flight mode. The Flight mode symbol is visible even before you logon.
I turned off Bitlocker, and the problem has gone away. Is there a solution for this?
Should I use the Dell DDP Encryption product instead?
I have 130W(model DA130PE1-00) dell orginal PSU and dell e6540.
When i plug in PSU into my notebook, then i turn it on, and after windows loads, it starting to make strange noise. after it warm up to 30 deegres of celsius, it stops making it
I have noticed that loudness of the noise is inversly proportional to load and temperature. When PSU is cold and notebook is idling - it makes the strange noise. When PSU cold and noteboot is under moderate load - it stops making it. When PSU is warm (about 30 deegres of celsius) and is idling - i need to PSU at front of my ear.
The noise seems to coming from AC connector's side (Where PSU have connector for AC cable). PSU doesn't make this noise when i put it off from notebook.
Why PSU does make such noise? Why it is inversly proportional to temperature and load ? This is dangerous to me and my notebook ?
Exactly it looks like:
1. I turn on my notebook under AC, the PSU is making "click sound" till it become warmer.
2. After that there is buzzing sound, that is not as loud as clicking (i have to put ear at front of my PSU), and the buzzing sound is inversly proportional to load of the PSU.
This thread will be very exclusive to those who may have an SSD in their HDX16T.
Particularly and Intel SSD X25-M.
Ever since I've got the intel SSD this HDX16t monster is DAMN quiet. And I mean not even whisper quite, its like the notebook is NOT-ON-quite.
That's how dead silent this notebook really is.
The thing/issue is that I began to notice that the monitor makes this constant buzz when it's on. And it only get louder when the brightness goes up.
It's not very loud at all. You'd have to put your ear about 3 inches away in order to hear it. But the fact that it does.
However, I would of never been able to hear the monitor noise with a regular HDD and I'd be totally fine with that. A regular HDD is way to loud now that I've been on SSD for a while.
But the fact that I can hear it makes it weird.
I can almost be sure that if you do not have an SSD, you'd not be able to hear what I am talking about. If you can hear it with a regular HDD, then your monitor must be SUPER loud.
Check back with me to see if you can hear this noise if any of youSSD users on the HDX16T out there.
My MacBook has recently been making crackling sounds (very static-ky), especially when I use YM or play the Funk sound in the Sound Preferences. Generally, the crackling sound occurs when I get an alert or any short bursts of sound that quickly plays. After that, the crackling goes away until the next abrupt alert plays.
Also, when I play the Funk sound in quick succession, the systemwide sound altogether fails. I know it's not a speaker thing since the same scenario occurs even when I use headphones.
Could it be a software or logicboard thing?
My DELL n5110 (core i7) randomly makes a strange Single Beep, then a clicking sound which i think comes from it's bottom left corner, this happens while i'am normally operating it, with no error what so ever, and it continues work, nothing appears on the screen, no system notifications, nothing at all, just Single Beep, then a Clicking sound that comes from it's bottom left corner and lasts less than a second, that's it, it's not bothering me, but what is it !!!?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just purchased the new 16" F Series. Right out of the box, the unit makes a slight buzzing noise on the right side.
It starts after the unit has booted. It tends to happen when the machine is idle. It's the same if the battery is in or out.
it's pretty well known that if you are using a Windows machine and it starts to feel really sluggish, a fresh format makes it spiffy and snappy. Does the same rule apply with osx? Since the first day of using my 17" unibody mbp, osx has always felt more sluggish than windows xp. Not only that, it's kind of unstable especially with Firefox for some odd reason.
Would a fresh format with the included osx cd help fix the problem and make it as snappy if not snappier than win xp?
I have a problem with my dell inspiron 5520 it sometimes randomly reboots ,screen flashes and makes weird audio noise and then screen goes black and laptop reboots like normal! What is wrong with my laptop.Because when it reboots all my work is gone!

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis machine was not dropped or damaged in any manner to cause this. Last couple of weeks when I open the LCD lid past 90 degrees upright, the LCD screen letters of words turn fuzzy and page colors change.
For example, if I push gently back on the LCD lid of my right now as I type here on this forum page, the white background of this web page turns 2 shades of pink with what looks like large square-like pink pixels. When I let up on the pressure, and the screen returns forward to 85 degress upright, the LCD screen colors of this web page go back to normal -- white is white and the image is sharp.
It is the entire page -- no pressure spots or issue limited to around the edges, its the whole screen that is affected.
LCD going bad or something else? This is definitely related to the angle of the lid and the issue is both position and pressure sensitive.
In fact, my W500 is over 5 years old but I do not have any complaints on its performance except the WUXGA display is rather dim which makes it hardly useable on open-air. I do not recall that problem at purchase time. When googling around I see different reasons for a dim display
a) cabling - would not consider this beacuase the screen is not flickering and does not show any discrepancies - it's just dim
b) inverter - this is not a real inverter, is it?
c) display panel - it does not seem very difficult to replace
d) motherboard - I am unsure whether I would challenge a replacement
Is there a way to find out which way to start working around? I mean buying a panel if it comes out at the end that I had needed a new motherboard would rather make me blue.
Or should I accept the fact that time has gone and I have to look for an other computer because it does not worth bothering. What do you think?
I have an Aspire V5-572P-6454. Occasionally I accidentally hit the power button on the side of the computer and it makes my screen go black. I can't figure out how to get me screen back, thought it was a lighting issue and tried Fn and the left and right arrows, but that doesn't work. Usually end up rebooting and losing what I've been working on.
