My xps15 l501x screen goes either gray / or stuck image on touching the lid or during start-up. I can fix the issue by pressing the back panel or by closing the lid multiple time
I would like to know if this is an display panel issue or the display cable issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI now have a grey screen on booting and it is trying to reboot itself.It started with lines then dots. I managed to boot OK once after this but now just a grey screen. I believe I have managed to start diagnostics pressing Fn while starting as I heard beeps which kept repeating until I pressed Y, yes, I heard the sounds, I guess. But I can only see a grey screen so do not know the results of the tests. There are no beeps or diagnostic lights staying on or flashing to tell me anything. I had this problem before but cannot remember what I did if anything to remedy it.

It turns on then goes to a gray blue screen. I can get into set up the usual way and have tried other buttons but usually get a warning in regards to the hard drive when we try boot mode.
The laptops key board basically doesn't work either so I use an external one

I'm experiencing a problem with my G500s Touch, i am not touching the screen but it makes a lot of random inputs and appears contextual menu (like right click). It's really annoying, one of these days i'm going to throw this laptop through my apartment's window.
I already opened device manager and deleted all HID interfaces and reinstalled. Reinstalled Elan Drivers (i think maybe it is the problem, elan driver), i used windows restore 3 times and i still have the problem.
A Quick solution for this: Ctrl + Alt + Del, then Escape. And you will not have this problem in the next 1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes.
When I power it on it has a white screen with shading or streaking of gray/black. Cannot get it to move past this. Unable to reach tech support. Still under warranty.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Dell XPS with Model : L501X purchased in Malaysia hand carried to Philippines about 2 weeks ago.
Upon receiving I have noticed that a Blue Screen appears with nvlddmkm.sys error every time I play a video initially stored in the laptop hard drive or via youtube.
I have also noticed there were two video drivers installed which where Intel HD graphics and Geforce GT 420M drivers. I installed an updated GT 420M driver through driver downloads in dell support. Unfortunately it did not resolve the issue.
To relieve my doubts of driver conflicts, I have freshly installed a Windows 7 home premium but BSOD still keeps on occurring.
I am currently running this computer using only one video driver (Intel HD Graphics), I want to run this computer using Nvidia Geforce GT 420M.
How am I gonna do that without having BSOD recurring?
Is it also normal to hear some frequently very mild ticking sound coming from the right side of the keyboard and mildly grounding sting on the plastic aluminum colored frame around the keyboard?
BTW, here are some hardware info :

I have a laptop in our lab that was full of a bunch of software that had been installed over the last year or so and I was trying to bring it back to how it was shipped from the factory. After booting with the F8 option then through Advanced Options I selected to restore the laptop to the factory image since there was no data that I needed from the unit. After the laptop restoration was finished I now boot to the BSOD and it perpetually asks for a startup repair which does not work. I made this unit a door stopper needless to say since there are no disks included in the purchase. Is there any way to get this laptop back to factory?

It seems to turn on (little green light comes on) when I access the Windows 8 camera app or any other app (like skype), but I do not see anything out of the camera except for a gray screen with a camera icon that has a bar through it. It looks like the camera needs to be activated somewhere but where to look. I have checked the driver and it seems to be fine (no yellow warning icon), I even unistalled and reinstalled the latest camera driver from the support website but that does not change anything.

I have dell Ispiron 1545.My problem is when I start my laptop it gives sound of beep.
I know it is problem of key stuck but I can not find which key is stuck.I try dell diagnosis but it can not find. After beeps my os boot normally but after that when I come to OS the search boxes open automatic.
When I put my X220T in tablet mode, the screen moves just enough to move the pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard to cause the cursor to move. I can't rest my hand on the screen without causing the cursor to move all the way accross the screen.
Am I missing a driver that would disable the nub when the screen is turned over it, or is this a design oversight? I've got the latest BIOS.
I have a screen problem on my Laptop, on start-up it shows a white screen with black lines (Picture below) only happens once every 5-10 start-ups. Only happens for 5-10 Secs & sorts itself out before it boots up.
Other time it happens is when I'm using the internet, the screen just sticks, but then when I move the screen, it stops.

Last night my laptop was working perfectly and then when I tried to turn the computer on, it loaded and went to the startup screen with the Microsoft logo and from there it got stuck. So when I go back to the game, it takes a second to catch up with the framerate but it doesn't freeze. Yay! But my initial question is that is there a way around this? So when I touch the volume in-game sequence it doesn't minimize to the desktop?
I used to adjust the volume in-game and it worked. So I don't know what's going on!

View 10 Replies View RelatedI broke the hinge of the laptop's lcd. I replace the hinge, there was a cable that was broken, I realize that cable was not related to the lcd since it was connect to the wireless network chip.
I made sure all the lcd cable are plug in the laptop motherboard.
On the back of the lcd, there was white tape and it said do not touch, I accidentally touch this by mistake. I don't know if this is really serious.
Now, the laptop does not have any picture, but the light is on, the lcd has a grayish color, its like its about to load, but no image comes up.
This issue occurred during the hinge breaking.
I hope I didn't break the lcd.
Model is dv2037us.
The laptop is fine if I hook it up to a monitor via vga port.
i've noticed now, and it's annoying that sometimes when i touch the trackpoint or touchpad LIGHTLY, like just right before.
i use it, it'll register it as a left click and i'll end up dragging things around instead of moving the cursor..
so now i try to plan and leave the cursor at an area of the screen/desktop where it won't select anything.. .
happens maybe 5% of the time, but since i use those pointing devices so much it's annoying. doesn't happen when i have a mouse though btw..
Cannot do F12 to do Dell factory Image because of black screen. Therefore am not able to make any choices relevant to accomplish the deed?

I've got a problem with a Compaq C700. When the laptop is powered on the LCD is showing a screwed up image, when I plug an external monitor in the picture is fine on that screen. I purchased a replacement screen, but that shows the same image.

I've been searching for a solution in all the menus from Intel's HD 4600, nVIDIA's Control Panel, Windows scaling... NOTHING works. I have another laptop and it has an option that scales the image and the TV shows what is supposed to show.
How can I solve that and fit what I see in my laptop's screen in the second screen (TV)?

I have an XPS 13 (L322X) running Windows 8. Yesterday I turned it off with the proper "Shut down" function. Willing to restart it, it never did.
Similarly to the post but without Windows 8 update (nor of other software)!
"I see the Dell logo, then it goes dark (but the screen is on, i can see LED glow at the edge of the screen), nothing happens anymore. If I hit the ESC or Return key I see a progress bar near the bottom of the screen and 'F12 Boot Options' at the lower right corner. There is no indication in the progress bar, so I do not know whether it is showing 0% or 100%. If I do Ctrl-Alt-Delete the laptop starts all over again, Dell logo, dark screen, hit any key, progress bar... and that's it. Hitting the Power button does the same thing, whether I hit it once or hit-and-hold."
I also tried the F12 key, but nothing moves after the "on hold" progress bar. I cannot disconnect the battery, yesterday I unplugged the power adapter and let it run out of battery, restarted but nothing changed.
The only thing I can do is with F2 entering the BIOS but since I am not a tech, I didn't trust to make changes there.
There is an image of a black square with an up arrow on the lower right corner of my screen. Sometimes it has a line though it.
