View 8 RepliesAnyone with the new Inspiron 1464 know if the lid/screen can open flat? (180 degrees)
I've been looking at getting a notebook to replace my 700m 12". This new 1464 seems to be the lightest comparable dell (since Dell isn't making 12" anymore, and the 13" actually weigh more than this new 14"; also the 11z is more of a netbook power-wise) .....
Dell doesn't have the hours posted anywhere in their support section. I just get a message saying "All chat reps are busy with other customers OR the queue is closed."
I don't like dealing with their reps on the phone because they're reading from a script and it's VERY annoying.....
My puppy jumped on my lap when I was on the computer and the screen went from horizontal to vertical. A quick fix is changing the screen projector mode from 'not connected' to 'extended'. Unfortunately I cannot use dual screen and have lost my mouse more then once...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just received my new Dell Studio XPS 13 with the integrated NVidia 9400G graphics and came across a somewhat annoying problem.
When I put my computer to sleep and shut the lid, then as soon as the lid opens, the computer wakes up from standby.
I dont want it to do this and would rather press the button manually......
I have an older Vostro 1500, which has generally been pretty reliable but because of it's age probably qualifies for hospice care.
I can open my browsers (Firefox or Explorer) but no websites will then open as usual. I've run virus scans, malware scans, and even de-fragged. Does this sound terminal? Is there anything else I can do?
I have an integrated webcam and my HP Pavilion dv6 now shows this message with a yellow triangle "no webcam installed". How do I fix? My HP Pavilion is really starting to fail. Cyberlink won't let me update software because it claims I don't have the full version. Didn't HP install the full version with my laptop?
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust received my laptop today. I am playing around with it, but I have found a glaring and obnoxious problem. If I can't get this fix I will have to return it.
I have the option of "Do Nothing" on when lid is closed. However, I found out that the laptop will just randomly open files/programs/apps. I have the laptop sitting on my table. There isn't any rocking or nudging. Is this due to poor planning on this laptop? The laptop isn't even a touch screen so what is going on?
When I open Windows media center all the photos that are installed on computer are still there. They do not come up and display on the HP media smart program. When I go to a space that is to have a photo but is blank, I can press "ctrl and enter" button and that picture and file opens up in windows media center.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I noticed that my laptop doesn't automatically sleep like it used to. I have the option set to '1 Hour' for it to sleep, but it just doesn't seem to work.
The screen turns off at the correct time and that, but sleep never kicks in.
It used to work fine. It worked perfectly to the point that it got annoying when downloading my larger Steam games as it would pause the download, so I would disable it (set time to 'Never') whilst downloading. I defaulted it back to '1 Hour' after my download had complete however.
Even when I set sleep to 3 or 4 minutes it still had the same problem. Also to note: I have my laptop plugged in to the AC (it's not running off battery) .....
i have a studio 15 just wondering what you guys prefer hibernate or sleep mode?
i find hibernate a cool future and useing it alot..
When my Precision M4400 goes to sleep after I close the lid, it sometimes turns itself back on without opening the lid back up (it gets rather hot and the fan is running by the time I go to use the computer again, however, I believe the screen stays off).
This has really started to bother me lately as the heat cannot be good for the computer and I always have to turn the computer off by holding the power button after it does this because the screen won't turn back on.
My dell xps 13 turns off when I press restart, and then never comes back on. If I hit power the keyboard flashes once and then nothing. It starts back up maybe one out of every 50 attempts. I am very disappointed in this product
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my new covet, and installed an intel x-25m SSD as drive 0. I loaded vista64, all the updates i could find, and now i cannot sleep. The machine no longer does its pulsating power button thing, it seems to hang.
I just grabbed the latest drivers from Dell for the 3700m. Does anyone have any ideas? I did do some basic optimization for SSD like removing the page file, turning off readyboost and superfetch.
I will probably redo these and see if it comes back. Any ideas
I've been having this issue for about a week or so. I thought perhaps it was because I updated the ATI driver, but I did a rollback and the issue still persists.
I have checked my battery settings and nothing stands out. I don't have my laptop set to go to sleep under any circumstances other then closing the lid, but during operation it will just go to sleep.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. When it goes to sleep, sometimes the power button is unresponsive in waking the computer back up. It will take quite a while before I am able to do anything to get the computer back up and running.
Even though in Power Options I have my Sleep button set to Sleep or Do Nothing (tried both), it hibernates my notebook!
I tried the sleep/standby function via the start menu and also 'when closing lid' and it works.
DLL XPS M1530
Windows Vista
the laptop enters sleep mode (stand by), after close lid, and now it won't wake up!
I have tried clicking keys, restarting, shutdown, without battery only electr., etc. And nothing. Not runs. Displays black screen
I can not enter to BIOS, I can not use CD-ROM....Is sleeping
So I have an xps 1640 and I just reformatted it. After this I noticed whenever I close my laptop,
the battery drains really fast when it is asleep. Has anyone had this problem, and is there any solution to this?
I put my xps 1330 to sleep and ever since when I try to start it it displays nothing but a black screen with a pointer.
I have Ubuntu and vista dual boot. In vista I was kogged into both admin and guest account while putting it to sleep?
When I put my computer to sleep, sometimes my screen goes back and continues to run instead of shutting down.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my Dell XPS M1530 Notebook for just over a year now and I've been having a problem with the lid and getting the notebook to sleep when closed almost since day one!
Essentially, closing the lid does not put the computer to sleep! The screen stays on and the computer stays on. I've checked in the power options and they are all correctly configured to sleep, but I've also tried configuring them to hibernate but this still does not work. I've tried almost all of the software options and settings that I can think of and also opening up the computer to see if there were any loose connections, but everything seems fine!?
Just received a brand new Inspiron 17R SE 7720 and it won't come out of sleep mode after the lid has been closed. Power's fine (battery and mains lead) and sleep mode when the lids up is fine. If I set the power management to hibernate when the lid is closed that's fine as well.
Quick resumption of services via sleep mode is important to the way I work.
Is there a way to put my Inspiron 15Z laptop into sleep mode by using only the keyboard? I know that I can do it by using Alt - F4, but that method requires me to close all existing open applications - would like to do it directly and not have to close down everything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy work gave me a new Latitude E6400. They replaced Vista with XP so I don't know if that is a possible cause, but whenever I try to put the computer to sleep (whether stand by or even hybernate), it freezes. You can see that it is preparing to stand by, locks up, never powers down, and can't get out of it. I have to hold the power button down and force a shut down.
I've been over the power management options, updated and reviewed the Bios, but am not sure where to go next. Is it a driver issue? I would hate to have to try and replace/update each and every one.
I have a Dell XPS 17 l702x 3D model. I hve been having issue on sleep mode for the past few weeks. Whenever I put it in sleep its fine, however when I press power button to wake up from sleep I get blank screen. The power button lits, the hard drive spin for a sec then stop and screen stays blank. Only way to get out of that is to force shutdown and restarting. Its same when hibernating, fails to wake up.
On a side note BIOS is upto date and my laptop is still under warranty.
I have a dell studio 15 that has been upgraded to windows 8 from 7.
I had disable all possible sleep mode in the power setting and advance power setting but the notebook still goes into sleep mode after a certain period of time.
My new laptop will not wake when it has gone to sleep.
Neither the keyboard, touchpad, screen or the power button will pull it from its slumber.
The fan starts, the light on the keyboard comes on, but it will never resume.
I have to turn ut off by holding "down" the power button for 10 secs, wait a bit, and then turn it on again.
I found a hint somewhere else that the bug could be related to Intel smart start. I disabled it in the bios, and now the computer resumes like expected.
However after boot up I get an error saying that "it seems smart start has been disabled" or something like that.
My XPS (bios A05) always wakes up after sleep mode with the fan running full speed and never stops after that. This occurs even if the PC goes to sleep with fan off (ie low system load, low temperature). The only way to turn the fan off is a full reboot.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, my laptop's internet stops working after it enters sleep or hibernate mode. I have to restart my computer to get the internet working which is annoying.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS M1530. Since I am a college student, and when I usually leave class, I just close my laptop.
let it go to sleep, and put it in my bag. The problem lately has been that when I close my laptop, it does not go into sleep mode, even though it is set for it to do this.
It will do this on both battery and AC power. I will put it into sleep overnight so it is in sleep when I put it in my bag in the morning.
And once last week I put it in there thinking it was a sleep and then 3 hours later while I was at work,
I had not brought it out yet, and opened my bag and the laptop never turned off, it had been running the whole time and was hot, and had 22 minutes of battery left.........
