Jan 20, 2010Is it possible to upgrade a mini 10v WSVGA to a WXGA screen, by just replaxing the screen? Or do you need additional parts? beze, cable etc?
I want to go from 1024x576 to 1366x768

Can any owner of the Mini 10 with HD screen confirm whether the display is a LG/Philips LP101WH1?
This is the display HP2140 uses
I have a HP Mini 1030NR which I got as a present, I already have my own MSI Wind u100 which I absolutely love.
Anyways, the HP has a 16GB SSD and I wanted to know if I could swap that with a 60GB 2.5" HDD I have laying around?
would this be a direct swap? how do I go about cloning the SSD first and then restoring that onto the HDD?
I also have a 2.5" HDD enclosure I could use for the cloning...
can you upgrade the ram and HDD yourself?
My other question is what games can it play? I know it may sound trivial, but if I can play some games on it I will
to upgrade my Dell Latitude E4200 >
Dell Backlit Keyboard
Intel® WiFi Link 5300 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card
Possibly, but not necessary (Finger Print Reader)
Where can I find those at the lowest possible price, direct links etc...
Can you upgrade a hp Mini 1030nr to windows 7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust found this and was wondering if it can be used in a regular minipcie slot. With every connector of course.
Or something like letting the X-FI chip doing all the work , processing etc. and lead the output through existing onboard audio.

There is a REAL X-Fi chip on board not those lower end ones used in usb and pcmcia solutions.
It is a Refurb, but I have had very good luck with their refurbs. I am typing on a XPS M1530 Refurb that is flawless.
Anyways, I got the Mini 9 yesterday from FedEx but got home so late that I decided to wait till today to open up the box. Box is in fine shape. Laptop is not. It looks like it is cracked behind the screen. Lots of dead/broken pixels in both horizontal and vertical lines.
Worst part about it? (And I KNOW it was stupid move on my part, but I ordered a Runcore 32GB and 2GB of ram that I will be getting tomorrow, should have waited until I knew the laptop was good).
So what should I expect in the exhange process? I am going to press to do a cross-ship (I know they do this for XPS's).
I'm having problems with my inspiron mini, when I am turning laptop on I'm only getting a black screen, the LED light is on.after researching online I have tried several methods 2 get it 2 work but still getting nothing...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 laptop and today I have switched it on and got these codes:
STOP: c000021a [Fatal Error]
0xc0000135 (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down
Is there any way I can fix this? the problem is that I can't log on past the codes to download anything so its hard to do it from the laptop.
Is there a way to get past the codes.
I tried a search and couldn't find the answer. Does anybody know why the size of the mini screen changed from 10.2 to 10.1, the resolution dropped slightly because of that too. I bought one in November with the 10.2 and they are sending a replacement with the 10.1, any reason to just keep the 10.2 and repair it.

View -1 Replies View RelatedHP Mini 210-1000 ... Actually it's HP Mini 210-1060EV PC Â
Â
From product specifications:Â Display: 25.6 cm (10.1") Diagonal WSVGA LED HP BrightView Infinity Widescreen Display BID (1024 x 600)
Â
Battery has been dead a long time. My display drivers  and BIOS have recently been updated from HP website. After a power failure and a restart, the display looks weird. It was shifted about an inch downwards with a black border at the top, over which the mouse will not go, and the taskbar is not visible as is off the bottom of the screen.
Â
When I go to Screen Resolution from Windows by right clicking on desktop resolution is set as 1024x768, when I click on Advanced Settings, Monitor tab,  Monitor is set as Generic Non-PnP Monitor (1024x768 60Hz). When I change to 1024x600 it looks blurry and stretched vertically, but the screen is still shifted downwards with black border on top.Â
When I enter Intel Graphics Settings I can do the same changes as in the Windows dialog box (640x480, 800x600,1024x600,1024x768). Â
In the Aspect Ratio Options when I select Fullscreen (No-Border) the  Black border is fixed but the screen still appears streched vertically but the screen is cut off at the bottom with no Taskbar visible. Re-installed graphics driver as well as a few Monitor Type Drivers from windows, nothing changes. When I turn the notebook on, the HP Quickweb screen also appears as a 1024x600 stretched vertically with no black border at top but going off the display at the bottom.
Â
It appears that  Windows and Hp Quickweb see the display as 1024x768 60Hz after the power failure. Before that, I had installed some Windows Updates but nothing related to Display drivers. I only had a System Restore point from earlier that day (very low free hard drive space?) but that didnt do anything.
Â
Guessing it's a registry/driver problem since no pixels are bad and the black border on top is fixed in Aspect Ratio Options when I select Fullscreen (No-Border).
For anyone waiting to buy a Mini 9 or Mini 12, the price of the Mini 9 is now $299 and the Mini 12 is $399.
I think this is going to make the Mini 12 a much better offering for those that might need a little bit more screen and hard drive.
HP Mini 110-3100. When power up, get the HP logo and then a blank screen with curser flashing upper left hand corner.
Ran diagnostics --- everything passed.
Cannot get into System Recovery
Cannot get into Safe Mode
I do get into the Setup Utility but  nothing there that fixes the problem.
I do get into System information, but again, nothing there to fix this start up problem.
Â
Estimates at local shops to fix start at minimum $110 - obviously could be higher
However, Amazon selling HP Mini 110-1030NR for $110
Â
Questions:
1. Â How I can recover to operate the HP MIni 110-3100 I have?
2. Â What are the differences in 110-3100 versus the 110-1030NRÂ
3. Â If I decide to buy the -1030NR instead of having the -3100 repaired, what I am giving up and ALSO, what does the NR stand for?
System is asking for password which is not known. Â how do I recover. Â Tried to download recovery file to usb from HP Website but can't get it to load from USB when turning on computer.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out the difference between the two other than the casing (one's metal and one's plastic). The 2140 uses a SATA connector vs a PATA connector. So for $25 extra(lowest config 2140 vs highest config 1000) you get a metal case and SATA connector?
Why would anyone buy the 1000? Am I missing something? Oh and the 2140 has a higher volatage adapter for 'fast charging'...what's left for the 1000?
I'm thinking of upgrading the 1537 lcd screen to 1400 x 900 and have found a place that sells them.
A couple of questions, does a new screen resolution put any extra demands that your computer may not be able to handle? I'll try and find the link but one seller here in BC, Canada discourages people from upgrading screens to higher resolutions.
He never mentioned why and he could easily make money off the likes of me but rather listed his opinion in the faq. Also, does the computer automatically recognize the new screens resolution?
What would I need to upgrade a CCFL LCD to the LED? This is what I know I need so far
LED screen
Thinner LED version lid (GX172)
LED version bezel (RW485)
LED video cable (GX081)
Is that all?
I received my DELL XPS M1530 Last week. When i ordered my dell i made a dumb mistake and didn't select the higher resolution screens. Hence, at the moment my maximum IS 1280X800. I would really like to upgrade to a screen which supports a higher resolution as i use it for Gaming, GFX, editing as well watching movies. Does anyone have any recommendations of an LCD screen which is compatible with XPS M1530?
1440x900 or anything better would be great.
I heard good things about the Lp154We2(Tl)(B2) 15.4" Wsxga+ Lcd, but i can seem to find it anywhere within the UK or europe. The screens
i keep on bumping into is the LP154WE2 (TL)(A1) WSXGA. Is it any good.
My current setup for anyone interested
Vista 32bit Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1Ghz Processor
NvDia Geforce M8600 GT

I have a e6500 with the WXGA CCFL screen. I wanted to upgrade to the WXGA+ screen to get the higher resolution.
I purchased the screen from a very reputable vendor who I have done business with several times in the past.
I get the screen and start to install and notice that the new screen does not have the cable for the backlight inverter and also that the video connector is in the wrong place,
and the female portion of the connector on the screen itself does not fit the cable that is currently coming off the motherboard.
I have a dell e6500 and i really love it, but my screen is the 1280x800..
I was wondering... could I simply upgrade to a WXGA+ or WUXGA if i find one and order it?..
i think i have a ccfl and the other two are led backlit. would that be a problem, or is that built into the screen itself if i got a new one? lemme know if this is possible, and any good links to order screens from..
I like repairing laptops as a hobby. I recently bought a M1330 laptop without a screen and with a small video card problem. The laptop still worked on external screen, but showed some lines.
This was due to the NVidia gpu problem. I managed to fix it by using a hot air soldering station(Youtube video). To decrease the chance that it arrises again, I also did the copper mod(description). This meant that I could finally use the laptop for my work if I could just install a LCD screen.
Since I have spend quite some time on repairing the laptop already, I decided to invest some additional money to upgrade from a CCFL to a LED backlit LCD. I ordered a new cover, screen and LED LCD cable.
When I assembled all the parts, everything fits perfectly .....
I've been looking a getting a Dell Mini 9 or 12 and reading as much as I can. One thing that comes through over and over again is that the Mini 9 is just about built to be hacked and upgraded while the Mini 12 is not.
RAM upgrade
Mini 9 is easy bring to 2GB with inexpensive RAM
Mini 12 has1 GB RAM soldered to the motherboard and is not upgradeable.
Drives
Mini 9 uses SSD. SSD drive replaceable with even larger faster SSD drives.
Mini 12 has 4200 rpm hard drive.
The processor of the mini laptop is atom N450, i want to know can i install windows server 2003 32 or and 64 bit os on this machine.
