I'm thinking of upgrading the 1537 lcd screen to 1400 x 900 and have found a place that sells them.
A couple of questions, does a new screen resolution put any extra demands that your computer may not be able to handle? I'll try and find the link but one seller here in BC, Canada discourages people from upgrading screens to higher resolutions.
He never mentioned why and he could easily make money off the likes of me but rather listed his opinion in the faq. Also, does the computer automatically recognize the new screens resolution?
I received my DELL XPS M1530 Last week. When i ordered my dell i made a dumb mistake and didn't select the higher resolution screens. Hence, at the moment my maximum IS 1280X800. I would really like to upgrade to a screen which supports a higher resolution as i use it for Gaming, GFX, editing as well watching movies. Does anyone have any recommendations of an LCD screen which is compatible with XPS M1530?
1440x900 or anything better would be great.
I heard good things about the Lp154We2(Tl)(B2) 15.4" Wsxga+ Lcd, but i can seem to find it anywhere within the UK or europe. The screens i keep on bumping into is the LP154WE2 (TL)(A1) WSXGA. Is it any good.
My current setup for anyone interested

I have a e6500 with the WXGA CCFL screen. I wanted to upgrade to the WXGA+ screen to get the higher resolution.
I purchased the screen from a very reputable vendor who I have done business with several times in the past.
I get the screen and start to install and notice that the new screen does not have the cable for the backlight inverter and also that the video connector is in the wrong place,
and the female portion of the connector on the screen itself does not fit the cable that is currently coming off the motherboard.
I have a dell e6500 and i really love it, but my screen is the 1280x800..
I was wondering... could I simply upgrade to a WXGA+ or WUXGA if i find one and order it?..
i think i have a ccfl and the other two are led backlit. would that be a problem, or is that built into the screen itself if i got a new one? lemme know if this is possible, and any good links to order screens from..
I like repairing laptops as a hobby. I recently bought a M1330 laptop without a screen and with a small video card problem. The laptop still worked on external screen, but showed some lines.
This was due to the NVidia gpu problem. I managed to fix it by using a hot air soldering station(Youtube video). To decrease the chance that it arrises again, I also did the copper mod(description). This meant that I could finally use the laptop for my work if I could just install a LCD screen.
Since I have spend quite some time on repairing the laptop already, I decided to invest some additional money to upgrade from a CCFL to a LED backlit LCD. I ordered a new cover, screen and LED LCD cable.
When I assembled all the parts, everything fits perfectly .....
I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks 720p just isn't enough.. I've been shopping for a new LCD panel for my 6920G, but was wondering a few things:
Brief background on my box: T5750, 4GB, BD (Optiarc), PM965, 9500M GS, 1366x768.
I'm going to start with the LCD panel first. The benefit from CPU upgrades seems nominal, and GPU upgrades seem expensive and a PITA.
a) Is there a guide/howto regarding how to change panels yet? b) Is there any issues going from 1366x768 -> 1920x1080? Is it even possible? c) I can't seem to find reliable places that sell the SAMSUNG, is a place like this reputable: [url]
I have an Acer Aspire 3690 running Vista, which I bought a year ago. It came with one 512mb stick of RAM, which I coped with but was really pretty slow. Obviously. Anyway, I took it to a shop to get some more fitted about three weeks ago, they put in two 1gb sticks.
Ever since then I've been getting sporadic blue screen, when I never had a single one in the year I've had it.
Sometimes certain pieces of software seem to set it off (Deluge, and either Total Recorder or Skype, I haven't figured out which or if it's a combination yet) which I've been using the entire year with no problems. Sometimes it just seems to happen for no real reason.
And most annoyingly of all, it often happens on start up, it'll bluescreen and restart and eventually I'll get it to let me into Safe Mode, and from there I can restart properly and it'll let me into Vista proper.
Is it possible to upgrade the 15" unibody MacBook Pro screen (1440x900) to a 15" 1680x1050 screen? Not concerned if it voids the warranty or not, just wondering if it can be done.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and everything seems fine, apart from a couple of minor things. When I had the original Vista installation when I pressed the mute button on my media control panel it lit up blue, since the upgrade the light doesn't respond.
Also when I turn on the volume on the media control panel the volume changes but I no longer get the graphic on the screen telling me what number its at.
HP Pavilion Product Model 15-e027AX, Product E6G17PA#ABG. Was operating with Windows 8 as ODD install. My young son accepted upgrade to MS Windows 8.1 and every startup goes through Windows splash screen, then goes black. We've been in contact with MS and have disabled graphics cards and display in safe mode, but problem has not corrected. We need a fix or be provided with Windows 8 to reinstall and start again.
Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade.
What happen: My laptop was working fine, no blue screen issue, no funny business at all. I bought a new SSD Intel 120 GB and thought it would be good to replace the HDD. I shutdown and disconnected the power adapter, waited a couple of minutes and removed the battery. I opened up the back case and replaced the HDD. And put all the screws back and put the battery back in.
Problem: The very first time I turned the power on, nothing happens besides a black screen. I pressed the dvd drive it works and opens up and closes. I waited for about 30 mins and still has blac screen. When I mean black screen, no bios menu, no logo, just a black screen with the fan sound on.
I have tried these:
1. Unplugged everything - battery, adapter, and pressed the power on button for about 60 seconds, nothing, the laptop turns on with the LED display on for both on and battery LED's. But nothing but black screen, no sound of windows loading just the fan and black screen.
2. I tried putting back my old 2.5" and nothing but black screen.
I have a Lenovo Flex 15 device (i5 version with 4GB ram). I upgraded it with an SSD, reinstalled Win 8.1 in UEFI mode. Everything works fine.
Next I replaced the 4GB memory with an 8GB version (same speed, Kingston) now the machine won't boot anymore, all it shows me is a black screen, both with power switch and novo button. If I reinsert the original ram it boots just fine again. The 8GB ram is not faulty, I tried it in another device and it works. I also tried disabling secure boot in bios but it's the same problem.

I have an HP Envy X2 PC Product number C2K61UA#ABA now running Win 8.1 32-bit. After installing the upgrade, the screen no longer responds to any touch. The touch pad does work, however.
I recently upgrade my Ideapad S10 to 2 megs, which I understand it is capable of recognizing. When I turn it on however, I only get a black screen. Some forum posts suggest that updating the BIOS might be necessary, but the only BIOS update I can find is for Windows XP, and I am running Windows 7.
I bought two new KTH X3BS/4G Modules for my Elitbook 8740w. They show up in the BIOS as 8GB. RAM test says everything is oke. When I start the notebook it has all kind of blue screens.
Mostly it says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
Maybe it's a timing problem. Where can I change the timings? I don't find any options in the BIOS.
I tried booting linux. Also doesn't work and hangs. I did the BIOS Update to the newest version...
The problem might be, that the memory is only supported on 8740w QUAD Core Machines. My Machine is only dual core i5 m520.
I just received from ebay a nvidia Quadro 770M 512MB Quote:

as an upgrade for my HP 8510p which currently has ATi HD2600 256MB.
Both cards are MXM II (physically fit) however I'm afraid that this VGA is not on whitelist so it's not going to work - I only get blank screen, no error message, no POST, no chance of entering BIOS. I read that there is some tool that can modify BIOS - something called HP Tattoo utility however maybe it's obsolete now and has been replaced by some other utility - I can't even download it anywhere.
I can't change my monitor's resolution and the screen brightness after I upgrade the windows from windows 7 ultimate to windows 8.1 pro build 9600I've already installed graphic card , but i can't change my resolution more than 1024x768 My laptop is HP 431 with intel core i3-2310m CPU @ 2.10 GHz , AMD Graphics HD 7450M , DDR3 1 GB (i don't know why , but i've already installed AMD Graphics HD 7400M Series because my notebook isn't compatible with other AMD Graphics) , OS 64-bit
I brought HP pavilion n010tx with windows 8 and I upgraded to windows 8.1 after that I Can't reduce my brightness in my laptop and it shows brightness adjustment is unavailable....
I should be getting my upgrade (Pro 64) within the next week and was wondering which method is better. I obviously know that it will run a bit faster for the first month or so with clean install, however, my concern is with the activation of the dell free upgrade version. Will it simply be boot the free upgrade disk and install and it will be activated fine? Or, is there more to it? Also, say a year from now I wanted reformat/reinstall win 7... How would I go about doing that with the dell free upgrade DVD?
With all the hand wringing folks have been doing about the lack of drivers for a clean install of Win7 I thought I'd jump in to the deep end of the pool with my FZ190 and investigate an alternative. My good friends Rajesh and Dr. Pratik have done clean installs of Win7 on FZ models, but I decided to take a different approach... the "dreaded" OS in place upgrade. Partly out of curiosity, I wanted to see if it would work, but mainly because I have a ton of software that would need to be reinstalled, if I did a clean install. That would mean days or weeks of inventorying every thing I have installed, digging up installation media and then installing all the stuff. I just don't have the spare time. So...
This past weekend I imaged my C: drive (all my data and I mean ALL my data is on D:, I am a fanatic about that). MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR C: DRIVE BEFORE YOU TRY AN UPGRADE! I ran the Windows 7 Update adviser and it said I had some issues:
Quote:
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT - NVIDIA Not compatible The driver installed for this device is not compatible with Windows 7....................
I have some issues with my video since I upgrade the nvidia drivers from the nvidia web site. I removed the drivers and I reinstalled the original ones with the same results.
Does the Windows drivers upgrade also upgrades the video firmware as well?
I am trying to upgrade to windows 7 with the free windows 7 upgrade kit I have both Cds and i put in the home premium windows 7 cd it starts up and tells me "run-time error 70' permission denied"
my laptop is Fw490jeb
I have noticed that when I try to run "model.txt" it does not show up and when I go to system it does not detect my processer and other things...
I have a Vostro 1500, which I bought 10 months ago. About 3 months ago the screen became loose and wobbled about 10 degrees when computer was moved or if I was on the train and it went over bumps. I tightened the screws as advised but this did not have any real effect. Dell engineer came and replaced the back cover with new hinges, (as they though hinges may be broken/at fault but they were fine,) but some wobble was still noticable so he ordered a new base. He came today and took the screen out complete with all the screen casing out of the old base, and put it into the new base, but still wobbled, so just put it back in the old base as it wouldn't have cured the problem.
Now yesterday, after he put the new back cover on, he had to take the plastic around the front of the screen off. After he put it together I noticed that the screen is no longer flush with the plastic surround and it annoys me! Am I just being finicky/picky or should I ask them to fix it?
Hi all, new person here. I did a search on LCD screens but can't find my problem anywhere.
Here's the background and problem:
Vostro 1500 with Chungwha 1280x800 screen that got cracked by my kids. I ordered a replacement screen from a company off Amazon.com that was highly rated. Got the screen and installed it. It is make by Chi Mei. When I powered up the computer I got 8 screens of start up and it was very dim. Once it went past the Windows start up screen everything went black. It would only continue to Windows screen, still showing 8 windows in safe mode. I hooked up the old screen and everything worked fine.
I contacted the company and they air expressed me another screen, which I received yesterday. Hooked it up and got the exact same problem, which leads me to believe it's the Dell that doesn't like it. I will try and attach some photos because I am at a loss.
when i first got this laptop i noticed that the screen was distorted and there was red lines everywhere and the screen was shaking abit. so i contacted dell and they sent me a repair guy to fix it. he fixed it in about 15min by pulling apart the laptop and replugging in the screen. but now its happening again. so i think the thing that plugs in is loose or somethin. so what do u think i should do out of the following options.
1. open it myself and replug it (im a noob and will try remember best what he did)
2. get techinician to come in again (bothersome as i have school)
