Dell :: Xps 1330- How Do I Get A DVD Out Of A Dead Laptop?
Apr 21, 2009
HAve a 1330 with a slot loading DVD. The mobo is completly dead, the laptop won't even turn on (dell is allegedly sending me a replacement -- second on in two years).
Since the laptop won't even turn on, how on earth do I get a DVD out of the drive, WITHOUT taking the laptop apart? I know I can take the laptop apart and trip the mechanisim, but I just don't feel like taking the @#$@'n think apart.
My Inspiron e1705 laptop would not boot. Turns out it is a bad graphics card. Dell no longer has the graphics card in stock to ship a new one to me, so they are sending me a whole new laptop. The support guy said all of the components will be the same or better.
Anyone have any idea what I should expect to get? Will it be a new laptop or refurbished? I really liked the laptop I have now, and wish I did not have to replace it, but if I truly get something better, then I guess it is ok.
I guess I should have asked Dell this, but does anyone also know if my warranty (which has 1.5 years out of 4 left) will still be good on the new laptop?
I have a Latitude E6420, and i can't for the life of me get it to work. There is absolutely no life, and the battery and power lights don't light up with the ac adapter connected. I've tried taking out the battery and connecting the ac, no change. Won't work.
My N4050 laptop got dead and I called the customer care they said that the Hard disk, BIOS chip, Fan were the problem. My laptop is under warranty now. I bought this laptop thru ebay and I have the invoice copy from the seller. How can I proceed for the warranty service. I dont have the paisa pay id details of ebay.
I have a Dell Vostro 1014 (or whatever it is).. And it refuses to start. I can charge it, but as soon as i press the start button, it stops charging. I don't hear any sounds from the pc as it would start either.
I bought my XPS 1710 dell laptop about 2 yrs and some months ago at about ~$4, 150. About 3 weeks ago my GeForce go 7900 GTX died... I've never OC'd any device on my laptop and its been used in normal conditions..
Has anyone else had any problems with their GeForce go 7 series video cards?
did a clean install of Windows XP and this is what I get...
1. when my laptop boots up the bios screen comes up with a bunch of vertical lines... 2. when windows boots up there is a bunch of vertical lines... 3. simple vga mode works... no vertical lines... 4. when I try to install the drivers for the 7900 GTX I get a BSOD...
Warranty... So far the video card has been backordered twice... when I get called again and if its for the same reason I'm going to ask what the next course of action will be...
I doubt there are any remaing Geforce Go 7 series video cards...
I recently took my Compaq Presario C714NR laptop on a road trip, and one day some water spilled on the case without me realizing it, so that the case and laptop were wet when I got to my hotel room. The screen no longer illuminates - I can just barely see the proper windows and images on the screen if there is bright light in the room, but it's nearly invisible. I assume that either the backlight is dead or that a wire/connection to the backlight is loose or shorted.
Several months ago I had to replace the screen when the laptop was dropped and the screen broken (bought a new replace ment screen through eBay, replaced it myself), so the screen has had a bit of a hard life.
Is there any way to charge my battery now? I think my battery is completely dead now. Over the past few months, it's been staying turned on for less and less time without it's chord. Today, it said "battery 100%" "6 min". Usually, I have it charging just by turning the charger chord in some weird positions. I'm not sure if it's faulty wiring or not. I would much rather just buy a new battery than deal with faulty wiring.
Yes, I have been getting the change your battery thing in the start up menu. I have an HP 625, and have had it for over 3 years now. In the past year, I've been having to adjust my wire just so it can charge. It jiggles around a little bit when inside, but the chord/plug itself doesn't seem loose or anything... Today, that didn't work at all. I've been trying for the past several hours to move my chord to the right position just so my laptop can turn on. I usually get it charging in no more than 1 minute, but today was different. Last year, I replaced my charging and it seemed to of made it much easier to charge. However, this is a fairly newish charger and it's my battery at fault this time.
Will my issue be resolved just by getting a new battery? I can probably head over to Best Buy or something. Or maybe buy one online.
If you think I may also have a problem with faulty wiring, what can I do to get it fixed? I feel like it would cost me a lot. Or, do you think will getting a new battery resolve my charging issue?
I am at my wits end with my e1705. I had a sudden meltdown about 2 weeks ago... screen went scrambled, BSOD,etc...
Performed diagnostic, memory on video card came back as bad. Replaced with new card (from Dell), reinstalled OS, completely reinstalled nVidea drivers from Dell (Used driver cleaner too)...
Everything went smooth for a couple hours after this was completed yesterday (full diagnostic showed no errors), but after booting up today, after about 5 or 10 minutes of use screen freezes and turns either solid cyan or black... a small pattern of thin lines appears also.
I was playing stalker a few days ago getting 50-70 FPS and now come today its so much lower at 20-30(not playable) and I tried CS:S, and COD4, and they all seen dramatic fall in FPS. I don't notice any artifacts but I just notice huge FPS hits. I also think my fan isn't running anymore but I am not sure. Does anyone one know what I should do now? Its out of warranty already.
I'm having for 2 years already a Dell Latitude D630. It works great Now my sister want also a Dell laptop, and she wants XPS 1330.
I'm sure about reliability of Latitude series, since D600 and D630. XPS 1330 has very cool design, price is OK too, but I'm very concern about GPU issue. After reading a lot of topic about replacing mainboard and especially heating problems with NVIDIA GPU GS?8400 should I still consider buying now XPS 1330?
I'm not going to buy with NVIDIA video card but Intel Integrated X3100 because sister doesn't play any game
Is there any serious issue with XPS 1330 and Intel X3100 on board?, heating, crashing etc..? I want to buy her a stable laptop like mine - D630.
after excessively researching every possible laptop that could fit into my budget and for my needs I finally went with the Dell XPS 1330. Upon receiving my order (after patiently waiting for weeks it seemed)-- I opened the box and realized there was no case or complimentary headphones. Only after researching a bit on the forums did I realize they were no longer included. After setting up the laptop and running some games--- and after almost 2 weeks of ownership I must say I am impressed.
pros- -Laptop has a beautiful bright display -can play most games i throw at it (for some strange reason Company of Heroes slows down considerably) -slot loading drive -relatively quiet (more on this on the cons) -touch screen controls -pretty quick start up -extremely light weight---and aesthetically pleasing---looks like a beauty -surprising decent battery life---get over 3 hrs with each charge--and can be configured for more with dimmer screen.
cons- -makes some strange noises when just doing ordinary tasks---it almost sounds like a ticking clock. -keyboard is also loose and makes some bad noises when clicking on certain keys. Overall the keyboard is simply sufficient---but doesnt really meet up with the price paid.
overall- I would say for the money 1215$ with 2 yr warranty is fairly unbeatable. An apple macbook was a consideration for a while---but Dells cant be beaten for the price-
overall I would say as a 1st time dell xps laptop buyer I am fairly happy. Only reason that i would consider returning it is for the crappy keyboard--and clicking noises. But i also feel lucky that my xps didnt ship with any worse problems.
i saw some pictures that suggest that this unit comes with a remote something like the bluetooth remote offered by dell... but im wondering 3 things... first off does it use bluetooth to work? and secondly does it stick out from the laptop like that other one that dell offers? and lastly can i get it without purchasing a 1330?
exact models of the AC adapters that will work with DELL XPS M1330.
Originaly I got 90W PA-10 , PA-1900-02D3 adapter,DP/N DF315 and I would like to buy spare one.
I have bought 90W , PA-10 family, PA-1900-02D, DP/N 9T215, but it is not working . I'm getting error in Vista that it is not wright model and battery is not charged. What models are offical for this XPS ?
i want to leave my xps laptop connected to my tv (through the hdmi connection) for long periods of time, and i want to be able to leave the laptop screen off and closed while i do this.. also just for extra information the laptop came with vista installed however i installed XP pro instead.
anyway, when i initially got my laptop i could press the function key and tv-out key and it would output to the tv with the laptop screen still on, pressing it again would still output to the tv and turn the laptop screen off, and a third time would turn off tv-output and have just the laptop screen. i.e. pressing fn and F8
1 time - tv output with laptop screen on 2 times - tv output with laptop screen off 3 times - bring it back to normal with laptop screen on and tv out off.
my problem is that when i press it two times my laptop screen goes off, however no tv signal is sent to the tv anymore.. i tried updating my geforce 8400GS drivers and installing and re-installing the video device but it didnt change anything.
I've owned the XPS 1330 for a little more than a year, and because of a drop recently I have had to change the hard drive and reinstall vista. I believe I didn't properly install vista on to the computer and now it doesn't restart normally as it should, sometimes it will show a blue screen or it will restart continuously.
I called tech and because I didn't purchase extended warranty I'm restricted to certain telephone lines, and they would require that I pay up a sum to have them go through and check the problem.
Anyone know which one is a better buy? Build quality is a big selling point for me, and ive read that the older xps 1330 has great build quality, not so sure bout the new studio xps 13, which has a glossy lid, which i hate...i can customize both on dells site for a good price..but just dont know which one has better build quality,?
