View 10 RepliesSo, during the summer I work for my school. Last summer we got 2 MBP 15", and now both batteries are dead. By dead I mean won't even charge. They are literally dead. What can I do? We will probably end up buying new batteries, but what may be the cause of this?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell M1330 that requires a spare battery. Is Denaq.com a reputable company & do their batteries perform as well as well as Dell brand? Their battery is $60 at denaq.com vs. $150 at dell.com.
I have never heard of this company and don't want to give my credit card info without getting any positive feedback from this valuable forum first.
The battery of my D620 is finally dying after 3 years. I need a new one but don't wanna spend too much since that laptop will be replaced soon.
Dell battery is ~$135. I can find generic batteries for as little as $40.
My Precision 4300 and Latitude D830 both had a modular bay that supported these batteries. They are extremely useful, as they're hot swappable and provide a boatload more power. I have 4 of them and can have power through any plane trip.
Looking at the models that Dell sells now, I can't seem to find any that would support modular batteries. It seems there is still a modular bay but no battery that would fit it.
Has Dell gone completely insane? That was the #1 feature that kept me with Dells all these years. Does anyone know anything about why they're not and if they will be supported again?
I just purchased a 12-Cell(EV12) battery and I am charging it directly using the built in AC Port (AC Charger to Battery with my 120w HP Charger) and the battery is extremely hot near and below the contact pins,

Since the laptop won't even turn on, how on earth do I get a DVD out of the drive, WITHOUT taking the laptop apart? I know I can take the laptop apart and trip the mechanisim, but I just don't feel like taking the @#$@'n think apart.
When I power on the green light flickers and it's dead.
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron e1705 laptop would not boot. Turns out it is a bad graphics card. Dell no longer has the graphics card in stock to ship a new one to me, so they are sending me a whole new laptop. The support guy said all of the components will be the same or better.
Anyone have any idea what I should expect to get? Will it be a new laptop or refurbished? I really liked the laptop I have now, and wish I did not have to replace it, but if I truly get something better, then I guess it is ok.
I guess I should have asked Dell this, but does anyone also know if my warranty (which has 1.5 years out of 4 left) will still be good on the new laptop?
I have a Latitude E6420, and i can't for the life of me get it to work. There is absolutely no life, and the battery and power lights don't light up with the ac adapter connected. I've tried taking out the battery and connecting the ac, no change. Won't work.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently took my Compaq Presario C714NR laptop on a road trip, and one day some water spilled on the case without me realizing it, so that the case and laptop were wet when I got to my hotel room. The screen no longer illuminates - I can just barely see the proper windows and images on the screen if there is bright light in the room, but it's nearly invisible. I assume that either the backlight is dead or that a wire/connection to the backlight is loose or shorted.
Several months ago I had to replace the screen when the laptop was dropped and the screen broken (bought a new replace ment screen through eBay, replaced it myself), so the screen has had a bit of a hard life.
Is there any way to charge my battery now? I think my battery is completely dead now. Over the past few months, it's been staying turned on for less and less time without it's chord. Today, it said "battery 100%" "6 min". Usually, I have it charging just by turning the charger chord in some weird positions. I'm not sure if it's faulty wiring or not. I would much rather just buy a new battery than deal with faulty wiring.
Yes, I have been getting the change your battery thing in the start up menu. I have an HP 625, and have had it for over 3 years now. In the past year, I've been having to adjust my wire just so it can charge. It jiggles around a little bit when inside, but the chord/plug itself doesn't seem loose or anything... Today, that didn't work at all. I've been trying for the past several hours to move my chord to the right position just so my laptop can turn on. I usually get it charging in no more than 1 minute, but today was different. Last year, I replaced my charging and it seemed to of made it much easier to charge. However, this is a fairly newish charger and it's my battery at fault this time.
Will my issue be resolved just by getting a new battery? I can probably head over to Best Buy or something. Or maybe buy one online.
If you think I may also have a problem with faulty wiring, what can I do to get it fixed? I feel like it would cost me a lot. Or, do you think will getting a new battery resolve my charging issue?
If you were to upgrade your laptop with dual channel memory, what combination would you use to upgrade to 6GB? Currently, I have a dv8 with 4GB (2x2GB). Would you have a combination of 2GB and 4GB? Wouldn't the ram pieces have to be of the same value and from the same manufacture?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am at my wits end with my e1705. I had a sudden meltdown about 2 weeks ago... screen went scrambled, BSOD,etc...
Performed diagnostic, memory on video card came back as bad. Replaced with new card (from Dell), reinstalled OS, completely reinstalled nVidea drivers from Dell (Used driver cleaner too)...
Everything went smooth for a couple hours after this was completed yesterday (full diagnostic showed no errors), but after booting up today, after about 5 or 10 minutes of use screen freezes and turns either solid cyan or black... a small pattern of thin lines appears also.
I have a Sony Vaio S460 laptop.
Recently it had been lagging really bad, and so I was advised that it might be a power supply problem, or, another solution would be to upgrade the memory.
I went to my local computer store asking about it, and he recommended trying to upgrade the memory (I currently had two 256 MB memory sticks, for a total of 512).
I told him my model number, and he pointed me to a Kingston 1 GB memory stick, and said he was pretty sure that it would be compatible. Since it was only $10, I bought two of them.
so I went ahead and replaced the two 256 MB memory sticks with my newly acquired 1 GB memory sticks. But after I put the laptop back together, and I pushed the power button, nothing showed up on the screen (although the lights indicated the power was at least on)
1 month ago I bought a HP 15-N203. I had three games
(1) Assassin's creed 4.
(2) Watch dogs.
(3) Dishonred.
I never had the low memory problem but today I uninstalled Assassin's creed 4 and Watch dogs because I had finished playing them. Now I only have Dishonred, So while I was playing the game I got the following message :
Your computer is low on memory-save files and close or restart. I am really confused because when I had three games on my laptop I never had those problems and now I only have 1 game and it's giving me low memory problem..
My specs are :
i7 4500U 2core 1.8Ghz
8 gb ram
1 tb hard disk
windows 8.1 64 bit
Nvidia 740m
I bought this laptop on 16 December, and got on with transferring apps and files from my old desktop PC. All OK until last Sunday, when I left the laptop doing a Win 8.1 update overnight. Next morning, it was requesting a reboot, but then, after the initial HP logo, the screen goes blank for some minutes. Then the Win 8 screen appears with a message:
"LogonUI.exe - Application Error. The instruction at 0x00b1645a referenced memory at 0x00000008. The memory could not be written."
When I click on OK, the screen goes blank then flashes. The message re-appears, with the same result. I have tried to boot the machine from a CD and a USB pen drive, after changing the boot sequence in the BIOS/UEFI screen, but with the same result. What should I do?
I was playing stalker a few days ago getting 50-70 FPS and now come today its so much lower at 20-30(not playable) and I tried CS:S, and COD4, and they all seen dramatic fall in FPS. I don't notice any artifacts but I just notice huge FPS hits. I also think my fan isn't running anymore but I am not sure. Does anyone one know what I should do now? Its out of warranty already.
View 10 Replies View Related(I'm talking about original and genuine OEM batteries and not cheap generic batteries. )
I find it odd that brand new, genuine OEM Dell batteries bought off ebay cost 1/2 or 1/3 of the Dell website prices.
How is it possible to get an original OEM battery from Honk Kong with free shipping and still only pay 1/3 of the original price? I simply don't understand how the chinese suppliers can make a profit out of that. At the same time UK retailers on ebay sell their batteries for about 3/4 the price of a battery from dell.com. It's still a good deal, but not as good as the chinese batteries.
Take a look at these batteries for example:
6-cell for XPS M1330
[url]
9-cell for XPS M1330
[url]
I bought both of them for less than what a single 6-cell battery would have cost in my country and shipping from China only took 8 days! I've checked these batteries with Everest Utlimate edition and they show 0% wear and the battery life seems to be to spec.
i'm considering buying an e6400 from the outlet and i've been trying for days to find a configuration that i'm happy with. i've noticed that the hardest to get "right" are the screen and battery which is where this question comes in.
when i get an outlet "scratch/dent" or "cert refurb" are the batteries the original ones or are they new? i ask because if they're the old ones, there isn't too much of a point in getting a 9 cell over 6 cell because the batteries have probably lost a bit of capacity already.
Anyone have experience using generic battery replacements to Dell's batteries? My Dell battery died (not gradual loss - it had a heart attack and died) about two years into getting my notebook. If I can spend $40 on an ebay battery that's comparable to Dell's $160, why not

View 6 Replies View RelatedOn the Belgian website of Dell I can configure the Inspiron 13z with a 8-cell battery. But this battery sticks out form the bottom of the laptop. On the accessories tab of the configuration tool I can also select a 6-cell battery (451-10702) that doesn't stick out. But my Dell contact said this battery is not supported on this model. So their website must be faulty.
View 10 Replies View RelatedA friend just showed me his new Dell Vostro lappy. He has 4 GB of DDR2 800mhz memory on it when compared to my 4 GB of DDR2 667mhz memory on my XPS 1530
However, under his windows experience score - he gets 5.9 score for memory operations while I just get a 5.1. I can't believe that a couple of hundred mhz can result in such a drastic difference.
Is there something optimized for his system but not for mine?
Both my original 9-cell and the knock off replacement I bought for my Vostro 1500 have broken on me. Where can I get an OEM replacement for a reasonable price?
