Now I bought this laptop used. there is only a charger and the laptop...
The back of this laptop does not have the Service Tag...it has been taken off...
Then i went to the bios but under product model and number it is blank....
(so my first question is WHY isnt the bios detecting the product model number and serial number in the FIRST PLACE?
I also used the auto detection method on hp site but it is unable to identify ...
I am running a Pavilion dm4-1150ea under Windows 7 professional (64-bit). My fingerprint reading software has become corrupted and I need to re-install it. I have a system recovery disk but cannot identify the appropriate file. Can supply the filename(s).

I didn't realize that my motherboard was bad from the factory. Â From the very first day I was unable to do a full factory restore. Â I would always have to send it in to HP. Â I was sent a motherboard and after installing it I was able to do a full factory restore. Â It was amazing... However, I now have this error message on bootup. Â What exactly does this mean?

When I go into the BIOS, All the information about the system is xxxxxxx. When I go into HP support assistance. The product name, serial number, and product number is  yyyyyyyy.  I know this is wrong, why?
The keyboard on my HP Pavilion g6 is locked. It was working and then my cat ran across the keyboard and must have hit a key that locked it. The mouse pad works. No cap lock or number lock on. I have already tryed:
1) going in control panel and unchecking everything in make keyboard easier to use.Â

2) Took the battery out for a few minutes.Â

3) have rebooted computer may times.
The motherboard on my XPS M1330 needs replacing for the second time. First time it was replaced under warranty, but my system is now out of warranty so I'm going to replace it myself.
I phoned Dell and they're charging €400 for a replacement but I can get it cheaper if I knew the Dell part number. I have the NVIDIA 8400M GS.

I'm considering to buy a factory refurbished HP DV7-2177, as I saw many people saying that factory refurbished ones are as good as a new one.
But what if it has no seal indicating that it is refurbished, that the vendor just took it off? Can I still recognize by using any program?

When the AC adapter is plugged in, an indicator light will light up to confirm that the laptop is charging. But whenever I plug the AC in, the light doesn't come on anymore. Sometimes the light will come on, only to go back off a second later. I've ruled out the AC adapter by using another one and I've ruled out the battery by taking it out and trying to power it off the AC alone. With both, I still have the same problem, which leads me to believe that it could be an internal problem.

View 7 Replies View Relatednot sure if this is the correct board, but here goes. i have a Pavilion g6 note book that has had changes made to the system such as replacment of the anti virus from Norton to another along with a malware and some other spyware .the windows media player was replaced with another media player of unknown origin. all went well for a day untill yesterday when nothing would load up on the screen apart from what looks like a screen saver from the choice you get when first setting up, but this is as far as i can get it to work as far as getting too far into the system goes. i have managed to get to what appears to be a diognostic page . apon performing a hard disk scan it comes up with this message. - My Dell laptop's motherboard is fried and needs replacing (Vostro 1400) - I can't read the Product Key for the copy of Windows installed on it, because the sticker underneath the laptop is worn out - Dell said that as long as I use the recovery disc supplied by them, it won't even ask me for the Product Key on install because it reads the data off the motherboard - If I replace the motherboard, does that mean I can't install Windows on the system without it asking for a Product Key again?
In other words: do all Vostro 1400 motherboards have the same SLIC digital signature? Will I be able to install Vista Business 32-bit without it asking for a Product Key?
A company bought laptop with model : E7240 & E7440, So those laptops come with Windows 8 product-key store on mainboard. I would like to get that number because those laptops werer installed Wiindows 7 from our Global IT but right now those laptops are transfering to new owner and Global license of Win7 is end. Is possible to get product-key from each laptop for downgraded the license to Win7 without re-install the OS ?Â

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a used Red E520-1143CTO in brand new condition, from someone who screwed up the OS (It had Windows 7 Home Prem 64). A lot of the drivers were missing and not working correctly. The restore partition is still there when I look in My Computer but when i reboot and press F11, I never get the option to access it. There was no Lenovo software installed to create a repair disk and of course, it didn't come with any software. Is there a way to access it?

I also have access to another E520 that is almost exactly the same (It just has the older i3 processor). I tried to create a repair disk from it and use it on this computer but it says the Windows versions are not compatible or the Repair software is not compatible with this version.

So I'm trying to figure out if there is an alternative way to access this restore partition. I've installed a company version of Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit on this machine and I've got most of the drivers installed and it appears to be working fine. But I have three that have yellow exclaimation points:

I've been downloaded drivers from this site, but I can't can't figure out which drivers I need to clear this list. So, how to get it restored to factory default. If not, I'd like to know what drivers I need to clear this list. I want it to look like brand new because I was going to give it to someone as a gift. I just don't see the on screen prompts for the wifi button (doens't work), volume, and brightness like the other machine. I'd like to get all that working.
I have a compaq presario, product name "Presario C700" and p/n "FE934UA#ABA." The operating system is Windows Vista. I have internet from Comcast and the router I am using is Netgear. I recently moved to a new place and am having trouble connecting to the Wifi at home. I've had this laptop for several years now and have been able to connect to some wifi in the past, but there have been times when I haven't been able to connect to wifi in some public places. I am able to connect to the wifi on my phone and another laptop but not this one. I have tried resetting the router and numerous other steps but nothing seems to resolve the problem. Every time I try to connect, it says that the signal strength is excellent, but it is unable to identify the network and says that "the router is unavailable." I have already called my router company but they were not able to resolve the problem. The only way I can connect to the internet is using an ethernet cord.

So there are two issues: The first is whenever I try to download and install a program or update it tells me a part was not downloaded, forcing me to stop the installing process. The other problem is when I open my "Downloads" folder is message appears "COM Surrogate has stopped working" and when I close it it pops up again and does that about 6 times.

He writes a word and some letters do not show up. Often space fails to work and words, attempts of words, are linked together. I am not a big HP expert but I think there is a faulty keyboard connection. I could be wrong and a software solution is available. Can anyone give me a hand?
