Dell Vostro 1400 :: Installing OS Without Product Key
Mar 16, 2013- My Dell laptop's motherboard is fried and needs replacing (Vostro 1400) - I can't read the Product Key for the copy of Windows installed on it, because the sticker underneath the laptop is worn out - Dell said that as long as I use the recovery disc supplied by them, it won't even ask me for the Product Key on install because it reads the data off the motherboard - If I replace the motherboard, does that mean I can't install Windows on the system without it asking for a Product Key again?
In other words: do all Vostro 1400 motherboards have the same SLIC digital signature? Will I be able to install Vista Business 32-bit without it asking for a Product Key?

Feb 3, 2015A company bought laptop with model : E7240 & E7440, So those laptops come with Windows 8 product-key store on mainboard. I would like to get that number because those laptops werer installed Wiindows 7 from our Global IT but right now those laptops are transfering to new owner and Global license of Win7 is end. Is possible to get product-key from each laptop for downgraded the license to Win7 without re-install the OS ?Â

After confirming my computer has Microsoft 7 [32 bit] installed, after confirming that my computer shows this program updated as of today and that my computer shows Microsoft t as "activated" under Computer/Properties I am still asked for product key and then told I have incorrect #. I have also confirmed I have a microsoft product key and it is not a serial #, model # etc. It is clearly marked.Â
I have a Microsoft Windows 10 on a trial basis that works OK but not the 7.

May 9, 2014I was making a Windows 7 recovery disc set, usning the Lenovo Thinkvantage tools, and one of the first pop up windows that came up said "Note: DVD RAM is not supported for Disc 1 of the Product Recovery disc set". Does this meen that I cannot use a DVDs for a Recovery discs? That is all I have.

May 21, 2014I have dv6-3122us HP notebook with windows 7 Home premium preinstalled with Office Starter 2010 Because of all the system problems listed in the troubleshooters I ended up having to restore to factory defaults. It wouldn't install, I was finally able to restore from disc by removing the battery. I don't know what happened but when finally restored the hard drive used 57 GB of my hard drive and doesn't show all the drives on my laptop. It doesn't show a lot of files when pulled up but originally before the restore there was only about 8 GB used. My other problem is that it asks for my Product Key to activate windows and won't recognize the one I have that came with the PC, it says I may have to purchase another key. Also my warranty for the PC is no longer valid. Micorsoft is telling me to contact manufacturer, manufacturer says contact Microsoft.

Dell Vostro 3460 :: Not Boot Only Loads The Dell Logo And Then Shows A Black Page
Feb 9, 2013my laptop vostro 3460 won't boot any more. When I turn it on it loads the Dell logo (I suppose it passes the POST) but then it just shows a black page. It could be anything, but I guess that it may have something to do with Windows 8 and the UEFI system. I also would be quite happy to install linux mint and get rid of Windows, but I don't know how to change the boot priority order.
So my questions are:
1 is it a hardware issue ? if not, can I solve my problem easily ?
2 how can I change the boot priority order, to install mint ?

Oct 21, 2008when i first got my dell inspiron and it was all good. when i set the monitor to shut off after 1 minute of being idle, it did and would not turn on unless someone moved the mouse of pressed a button. however, after i reformatted, the computer monitor would shut off after 1 min but soon afterwards it turns on again by itself, then it goes off again, then it remains on permanently. i recently formatted my laptop again and this problem persists. anyone knows whats sup? im using xp ftw... and my configurations are the same as it was before the reformats so idk whats wrong.
