Acer :: 5920 Grey Screen Doesnt Boot
Oct 13, 2009My laptop Acer 5920G doesnt start up anymore. It happend when one day the screen froze and then when i restarted it , it just came up with a grey screen .
Now when i press the power button , the fans starts up and everything and the screen just comes grey sometimes with stripes on it . There is no actual sound eg. vista sound or anything but theres is sound coming from the fans. Once in a while it does boot up and 2 mins later the screen just completely freezes and then when restarted the grey screen thing just happens again.

I have this Problem that Once when I start up Windows XP the three green things like after the 9th time the Blue Screen Shows it starts fading like in 5 min so I don't know what to do I'm a beginner at this new Kind of thing.

Nov 14, 2009The HD in my Inspiron 1000 died and I am trying to install XP on my new HD.
The install process formats the drive and loads the system files but then it turns off. Always at the same point.
I can load and run Windows 2000 Pro with no problems.
I have tried a dell reinstall disk for XP Home, and XP Pro and they both have the same symptom

Feb 1, 2009My computer has started doing a clicking noise. It isn't all the time but comes and goes and if very loud.
I have it sitting on a fan to keep it from overheating but that isn't helping the clicking noise which seems to get worse while surfing the net or things that require it to work harder

Jun 10, 2009My grandpa gave me his old insprion 1000 and i wiped it clean and reinstalled windows xp on it. i was hoping to use this computer for my music (itunes, syncing ipods ect.)
but the speakers will not work. i go into the control panel and under the sounds and devices it says that there is no audio device.
i know that this computer has speakers build in and i can see them on the front on the computer. Also when i try and plus external speakers in it doesn't detect them either.

Aug 4, 2009Everytime I boot up the laptop, I get halted with the blue box asking me for the bios password.
I know this laptop is quite different and that even removing the cmos battery for like a day is not going to help. There is no 24xxx chip that I can short on the mobo.
Then I found SST39VF040 bios chip on the back of the mobo and also found a 93lc86 bios chip too .....
HP/Compaq :: DV4t-1000 Screen Flashing
Jan 26, 2010my daughters DV4t began having video issues. The unit had been flawless for a year but after the unit had run for 5 to 10 minutes, every 4 or 5 seconds or so it would begin flashing a pencil thin green line horizontally across the entire bottom of the screen. The longer the unit ran the larger the line would become until it consumed the entire task bar. It demonstrated this behavior in normal mode, safe mode, and in BIOS mode. I tried everything I knew (drivers, BIOS, etc…) to solve the problem without resolution.
Luckily we have an extended 3 year warranty with ADP. The unit is/was just over its initial 1 year warranty period (Christmas). The unit was returned for repair and HP replaced the lid, LCD, and associated parts. I’m happy to say that in 8 days the unit came back with no issues and in flawless condition, but I must also say that it’s a bit disappointing that such a failure should occur so early in it’s well cared for life.

Jan 21, 2009I have bought a DV5T Notebook 1 month back from US and now i am India, there is physical damage on the LCD screen and i am sure teh LCD screen got broken. When i tried to call HP India Customer Care people, they have said this model is not available in INDIA and they cant do service. And when i chatted with HP US customer care people they said it charges $700 for repair which i dont think to pay as i can buy new Notebook.

Apr 21, 2012My 3.3 year old HDX 16T-1000 CTO Premium Notebook PC's display no longer functions. Upon cold boot, the display nearly always comes on but flickers at about 1/2 brightness. If I twist the display, sometimes I can get it to come on at full brightness. Upon letting go though, the display goes black. The only way I can get it to turn back on is to put the notebook to sleep and then wake it up. The display comes back on for about 2 seconds (mostly at 1/2 brightness) and then goes black again.

I do get a normal display when I connect to an HDTV via the HDMI output. HP's techs had me download and reinstall the chipset, NIVIDIA video driver and BIOS software. This made no difference whatsoever.

Since I can get the display to turn on intermittently, could the problem be just a worn video cable or something more serious?

Feb 13, 2009I just got my new hp pavillion dv7-1000, it loaded up and i did all the registration stuff before you actually get to using the laptop but as the vista desktop loads up i closed to lid and it put the laptop on standby.
Now when i try to turn the laptop on i get to the log on screen, put in my password, it loads up and then i get a blue screen with my mouse cursor but no desktop icons or anything. I can still do control-alt-delete but i just cant see any of the other stuff.
I then booted in safe mode and i could then see everything but it looked like windows 98 not vista,

Mar 24, 2008first problem is about 2/3 of the time when I shut my laptop the monitor doesnt turn off. I can still see the glow come through between the lid and the palmrest. I'm sure it cuts down on the life of the monitor so I really want to figure out what is wrong with it.
2nd problem is dealing with the power options. I have it set up so when I shut the lid it does nothing and when I press the button it asks me what I want to do. Almost everytime I switch between battery and AC usage these settings are defaulted and I have to go back and change it.

Jul 30, 2009By default, the brightness setting on my dell xps m1530 is set to max on AC. I prefer to set it 3 at pushes of the down button.
But I whenever restart or when the screen turns off automatically after inactivity, it just resets back into the full brightness. Is there anyway to make it 'remember' the brightness that I set it to?

Oct 8, 2009I got a XPS M1730 with nVidia 8800M GTX SLI.
When i wanted to start it yesterday it stopped just after initializing the LCD panel. I did not install or remove any software/hardware before it happened.
i tried the Vista repair function but without success.
the computer starts in safe mode and in "normal mode" if i uninstalled the graphics driver before.
i checked my HDD and even reset it to factory settings but still same problem. as soon as i load the proper graphics driver it freezer resp wont start up again.

but one problem..they never seem to make laptops with high end specs...all their laptops have great design, great secondary features..but the specs never touch the gaming level.

of course they made the 20" dragon..but i am talking about smthg in 15 - 16" area.

May 5, 2009I just bought a BZ-560 and I down graded to XP Pro.
Im trying to use the motion eye camera....I had to find the camera capture utility, ver. 2.1 and I loaded it but when I open it, it has a blue screen and says no input for both camera and video.
So when I go to control panel, printers and hardware and find the camera when I click on it the camera opens just fine and takes and saves pictures etc. but I want to get the video working.
Does anyone know how to make it work...I re-installed the driver still same thing. I looked on Sonys site under my model and have the latest driver...but its the camera utility thats the problem.
