HP Mini 311-1037NR OS/Software :: Windows 7 - Microsoft Product Key Not Accepted
Jan 11, 2012
HP Mini 311-1037NR PC
Â
After confirming my computer has Microsoft 7 [32 bit] installed, after confirming that my computer shows this program updated as of today and that my computer shows Microsoft t as "activated" under Computer/Properties I am still asked for product key and then told I have incorrect #. I have also confirmed I have a microsoft product key and it is not a serial #, model # etc. It is clearly marked.Â
I have a Microsoft Windows 10 on a trial basis that works OK but not the 7.

My Word Starter 2010 on my HP mini 210-2000 will not open. The program just stopped working today. How do I get it to start working again? The Click-to-Run Application Manager message says: " Microsoft Word Starter 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in Control Panel." I cannot find a way to fix the problem in the Control Panel. How do I fix this problem? I use the program a lot for grading student essays.

While I was almost a 100% certain my next laptop would be the asus ul30jc, I just saw the folowing laptop in a local advertisement and I must say i'm tempted (being a student, I use almost all of my free money on vacation, food and alcohol so every saved € counts):
Compaq Mini 311c
Intel Atam N270 (1.6ghz)
1 GB RAM
160 GB HDD
Nvidia ION LE (shared memory)
Wifi b/g
Windows XP home (service pack3)
Battery info unknown, though most sites say it has a 6 cell battery.
359€
So I have a few questions. First and most importent of all, I need to know how long the battery will last, if its +7 hours i'm content.
Second, I have no idea what kind of wifi I need, I use that white Belgacom Digital TV Router so perhaps my fellow Belgians can help me on this? When I use system information it says my wifi in my current laptop is A/G/N.
Third, will I be able to install the newest microsoft office programs (I have 2003, 2007 and will most likely buy 2010 aswell) on windows xp home?
Last but not least, will I see a big difference if I upgrade from 1gb of 2gb of ram? I noticed a big difference on my current laptop when I upgraded my ram, but since that hp compac has a very weak processor, it might be pointless since that cpu might bottleneck the effect?

I have dv6-3122us HP notebook with windows 7 Home premium preinstalled with Office Starter 2010 Because of all the system problems listed in the troubleshooters I ended up having to restore to factory defaults. It wouldn't install, I was finally able to restore from disc by removing the battery. I don't know what happened but when finally restored the hard drive used 57 GB of my hard drive and doesn't show all the drives on my laptop. It doesn't show a lot of files when pulled up but originally before the restore there was only about 8 GB used. My other problem is that it asks for my Product Key to activate windows and won't recognize the one I have that came with the PC, it says I may have to purchase another key. Also my warranty for the PC is no longer valid. Micorsoft is telling me to contact manufacturer, manufacturer says contact Microsoft.

New Elitebook 850 G1. Started set up. Wrote down recovery key. Set up security.  Installed Mozilla Firefox. Shut down. Later when starting up, computer went immediately to f11 and driver encryption recovery. Tried typing in recovery key but got message "file does not exist". Went into BIOS to change password...still not accepted. I have a brand new computer that is useless.Â

I'm not sure if this really needs a separate thread or could go in the VM sticky, but I thought it's pretty important.
It's just been revealed that Windows 7 will have a Virtual Windows XP mode that will basically be running Windows XP in a VM and include integration features like Coherence in VMWare Fusion and Unity in Parallels Desktop. They are doing this to address the remaining software backwards compatibility issues in Windows 7. Of course, Microsoft being Microsoft with their product segmentation, is currently limiting access to Windows XP mode for Professional Edition users and higher, although it is commendable that they are offering it for free.
Why is this significant for Macs? I think this is very useful because future Window operating systems and applications will be written with the expectation that they will be running in VMs in future OS for compatibility. It wouldn't surprise me if Windows 7 (kernel 6.1) and Office 2010 are already being designed in a way so that they can run well in a VM for a future kernel 7.0 based Windows OS. These optimizations would of course benefit Mac users who still have to use Windows application or perhaps even play games. I'm sure it'll also be a compelling transition point to encourage switchers, especially if they are already familiar with virtualization from Windows 7.

Does the Microsoft Window's 7 installation CD automatically recognize the mSATA and the Optimus in conjunction with the Intel HD 4000 as well as the fingerprint reader for login? Or do I have to download the drivers and install ExpressCache separately off of Lenovo's website... trying to stay clear of Lenovo drivers that might conflict with Intel's and NVIDIA's.

I just purchased a HP 15-r014TU Notebook, which comes with FreeDOS as I purchased a Windows 8.1 license as part of a student deal in campus.
Â
I used the official Windows USB installer to make a bootable USB of the ISO file. It booted fine, but after selecting the install option, I recieved a error that said "Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation". It looked like this:

- My Dell laptop's motherboard is fried and needs replacing (Vostro 1400) - I can't read the Product Key for the copy of Windows installed on it, because the sticker underneath the laptop is worn out - Dell said that as long as I use the recovery disc supplied by them, it won't even ask me for the Product Key on install because it reads the data off the motherboard - If I replace the motherboard, does that mean I can't install Windows on the system without it asking for a Product Key again?
In other words: do all Vostro 1400 motherboards have the same SLIC digital signature? Will I be able to install Vista Business 32-bit without it asking for a Product Key?

I didn't realize that my motherboard was bad from the factory. Â From the very first day I was unable to do a full factory restore. Â I would always have to send it in to HP. Â I was sent a motherboard and after installing it I was able to do a full factory restore. Â It was amazing... However, I now have this error message on bootup. Â What exactly does this mean?
Â
When I go into the BIOS, All the information about the system is xxxxxxx. When I go into HP support assistance. The product name, serial number, and product number is  yyyyyyyy.  I know this is wrong, why?

Seems MS has caved in,
Hate Vista? If your PC is running Microsoft Windows Vista Business or Windows Ultimate and you're fed up with the OS you may be able to ditch Vista for XP Pro. Microsoft is quietly allowing you to downgrade to Windows XP Pro.
Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Lenovo are just a few of the system manufacturers offering downgrades. Each of these PC makers offer an XP Pro recovery disc to those who request one that can be used to revert a Vista machine to XP Pro.
Dell, HP, and Lenovo customers can request a Windows XP Pro recovery disc to be included with their purchase of a Vista machine - should they want to revert in the future. Customers who already have purchased a Vista-PC can request an XP Pro recovery CD for between $15 to $20 by calling technical support.

I switched from Office 2008 to Office 2004 because of visual basic. However, I am really annoyed with Office 2004. Unlike Windows counterpart or Office 2008, the toolbars are detached from the main window. I can't seem to figure out how to dock it either.

We had the pleasure of working with this netbook for the past 2 weeks, including installing a copy of Windows 7 build 7068 on it.

If buying a netbook TODAY, we would recommend the Mini 10, hands down. However if you can wait till the summer, we are very excited about the next batch of netbooks that will utilize the NVidia 9400M chipset coupled with Intel Atom processors. This combination has the potential to bring netbooks with great battery life as well as video performance that is currently out of reach of the Intel US15W chipset .....
