if I get 2gb of memory for my mini, can I upload windows vista on it that is from my inspiron 1501? I have the disk that came from dell, but can I have both Vista Home Premium OSs run on both computers?

But unfornately i have failed to install OS (XP) on my laptop which came with pre-installed Windows Vista. I not been able , but when i boot my lapto using Windows XP CD it copies the required files but when i press ENTER to install Windows XP the message appears that " Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer and that any disk related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacture supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3." Please note I have C: drive installed windows vista on it, i have drive D: files are available for recovery disk pre-installed by the windows vista or manufacturer. My lapto is ACER MODEL 4320. Please advise how to install how to install the operating system on this computer.

When selecting the repair windows option it loads windows files, but eventually comes back to the same screen. When I hit F8 for advanced boot options, none of the options, safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, last know good configuration, etc. do no workl. They will go through a progression but end up back to the winows could not properly start page. Dell sent me Windows 7 Starter usb installation and the resource discs. How do I initiate the install from the USB?

any way I think the mini is cool. It was an impulse buy.
As an experiment I just installed WIN8 on my HP210 Mini. It seems to work just fine, except for the apps. WIN warns me that they cannot run because they require a resolution of 1060*768 wheras the original driver for the HP210 only supports up to 1060*600.

Unfortunatly I have not been able to enable wifi on the machine. I have tried all the drivers at HP but still nothing.
The switch on the front of the netbook seems to enable/disable bluetooth but not wifi. That switch stays orange all the time and it used to be blue when wifi was enabled before I formatted.

I chose the Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz) cpu and ati 3670 graphics card, but with windows vista 32 bit. From what I've recently read, OS 32 bit does not take all the 4 gb RAM.

After confirming my computer has Microsoft 7 [32 bit] installed, after confirming that my computer shows this program updated as of today and that my computer shows Microsoft t as "activated" under Computer/Properties I am still asked for product key and then told I have incorrect #. I have also confirmed I have a microsoft product key and it is not a serial #, model # etc. It is clearly marked.Â

Since yesterday, i can not find how to go to bios setting or how to go to booting option.I have read all articles on this forum about pressing esc, f9, or f10 when notebook begin starting.But never work. All of this button never work.

I'm trying to figure out the difference between the two other than the casing (one's metal and one's plastic). The 2140 uses a SATA connector vs a PATA connector. So for $25 extra(lowest config 2140 vs highest config 1000) you get a metal case and SATA connector?
Why would anyone buy the 1000? Am I missing something? Oh and the 2140 has a higher volatage adapter for 'fast charging'...what's left for the 1000?
