View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have purchased an HP Pavilion G6 2300st to our parents with Windows 8 installed. Unfortunately, they are having diffuculties to use Windows 8. So I thought that we need to downgrade to the windows 7.
I tried to install Windows 7 last night and I wasn't be able to do so because of Legacy Support and UEFI etc.
After that, little search on the web and I think I will be able to install windows 7 now. However, when I was searching on the web I realized there are many people have the same problem includign drivers problems. Then I find out that G6 2300st does not have W7 drivers.
I found someone here downgrade the G6-2306el to W7 in link. [URL] ......
Now here is the question; Can I use the same drivers that stated in those posts?

I downgraded to windows 7 and now my internet is not working neither are my fn keys in particularly the one that turns the wireless on and off is not working either. I looked at the bottom of my laptop and this is the model.

I've ordered a suitable replacement drive and managed to locate another G6 Windows 8 model (2299sa) by enquiring on a local forum...
However, before I do, I need to ensure a few things:-
a) Will the recovery media from a 2299sa work on the 2287sa?
b) Is it likely to cause any problems for said forum member if their own system has issues in the future?
c) Does creating recovery media remove the onboard factory restore facility, or keep it intact?

First I was getting HP Connection Manager error messages. All the message said was to check the event view to see the problem. Which, as a lay person, did not tell me what the problem was. Then I noticed that I was not getting any windows updates on this PC when my other PC was. After doing some research, I uninstalled HP Connection Manager, but this did not fix my windows update problem. I have tried running Windows Update manually from Administrative Tools but it will not start. The error message pointed to a service named Background Intelligence Transfer Service which was not running. I tried to manually start that as well and got the following message:
"Windows could not start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code -2147014790."

View 9 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled windows 7 home premium on my machine, using the same serial number as the one that came with the laptop (I found the serial number by downloading some software that scanned my computer and told me what it was).After installing windows, it told me that it was not genuine. I imagine that it is because it wasn't a version of Windows that has all that HP software pre-loaded on it. My hard drive still has a "recovery" partition, but what to do with that, or even if I can do anything with it anymore. So how can I make my Windows 7 home premium genuine? By fresh install, I mean its got re-installed completely so no hp support and other stuff like that. The produst number is E5L22EA#ABU. I tried updating the device but it could'nt find a driver online or offline. I also tried installing all updates including optional ones. In addition, I also tried going on hardware troublesooting but, yet again, it couldn't find a driver to insatll online or offline.
