When listeing to music using headphones/earphone the sound effects are terrible it echoes, off-pitches.It happens both while listeing youtube videos and while listeing to music/videos stored on my system. I don't remeber if i made any configuration changes in the SOUND setting from the control panel. But I cannot reset it to normal.

I was watching something online when the sound became distorted (has happened before) so turned off G6 laptop and restatred worked well for 20 minutes and then it went all distorted again. Turned it off again and started it up again however this time the sound completely vanished. Tried iTunes, internet, and a movie on laptop and nothing is working anymore. Have checked all the easy sound things making sure I didn't turn it off but nope it all says device is working.
I have updated my HP Pavilion G6 2242sf to Windows 8.1 and the sound quality is not as good as in Windows 8 : In the Dolby control panel the equalizer works but switch the Dolby Advanced Audio checkbox has no effect so there is no more surround virtualization and the 3 effects "Movie", " Music", and "Voice" are not working anymore. Now my laptop speakers sounds choppy.
New HP Pavilion 15-p067ca notebook. Strong echo when the other person is listening to me on Skype. I have watched HP troubleshooting video and tried all suggestions. I also hear the stong echoy sounds when I turn on the listening in the sound control box.I am about to return the laptop before the 14 days runs out , but thought i would check here.

The problem is sound been very gargly and sometimes direct music audio fails. I don't won't to buy a sound card.
1. Any drivers you use? 2. Any tweaks you would recommend? 3. Can cleaning the connectors fix it?
My 2 weeks old HP Mini 200-4220tu makes random static noises (ZZZZZTT sound) when i play music/watch youtube vids.. i have installed/reinstalled idt high def audio codec from the hp website but the problem still persists.. i already performed hard reset (as i have read from other posts here: remove battery and power for a few mins) to no avail.. the static sound wont go away ...
Speakers in the laptop play music fine. When I use the headphone jack the music in my headphones has very little dynamic range. The music sounds squashed. The loud parts are limited and the soft parts are raised to the point that I can hear the background noise in the recording. I have never had this problem on any other PC.
I am listening to iTunes, Soundforge and any other program that has audio.
I have a HP 15-r011dx Notebook PC with windows 8.1 and when on youtube or CNN videos, the speakers carack and pop. The commercials that CNN play prior to the story are fine as is a DVD or my loaded music. I relly do not want to reinstall. I have had the computer 3 weeks and I am not sure if it has been there from the beginning. I have updated everything from HP including BIOS and have tried a different browser and adjusted volume levels. Windows has done updates.
Acer Aspire 6930g : -Windows Vista -Intel Core2 Duo processor P7450, 2.13 Ghz -4 GB DDR2 -Nvidia Geforce 9600M 1GB -320 GB HDD -16" -Gorgeous laptop .. lol love it
It had a few sound problems ( not that annoying but I'd rather get rid of them ^^ ) with my subwoofer, now and again it did some annoying sound like grzzzz when it went to the bass. I had to change the sound to the normal settings, then go back to the high definition sound. ( the one with 6 or 7 different "speakers", instead of the normal stereo one which has only 2, Left and Right. )
Sometimes, my music stopped playing "problems with the audio card" or something.
So I decided to get rid of those problems by installing the latest ( i think ) realtek audio driver.
After the installation, i realised that : 1. The sound didn't work anymore AT ALL 2. When I went in that audio sound properties, it only showed me the stereo, and I can't see the 2nd one which had a better sound quality ( more speakers, more 3d sound .. )
Anyway, I just would like to know if the weird noise coming from the subwoofer is a big problem, and if I should get it back to the shop, or if it's only a driver problem. And I also would like to know how to get my sound back, and my high quality + subwoofer aswell.
On the SRS's website, under computing products with srs section, hp notebooks are listed. Does that mean HP is shipping its current notebooks with the SRS audio enhancements OR could it do it in future?
I am making a 10 minute or so powerpoint presentation that will include pictures, music, video, and sound effects in Office mac 2008, on my macbook.
Once I am finished, I will save it onto a USB key. Lets say I now bring the USB key and open the powerpoint in the lecture hall at my school, will the videos and sound effects still work? I know that the pictures will, but not sure about other media content like video and sound effects.
Would it be better to do this in Office 2007 in Windows?
The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..
has anybody else had a crackling sound when playing sound example music/games. i always get it in my right speaker and how can i fix this i believe this is a software/hardware issue as whenever the sound goes off the crackling deaseses.
I purchased the black Sony CW i5 from Best Buy about six weeks ago and have been quite pleased with it. However, lately I have noticed a high pitched sound eminating from the computer. It's not terribly loud but if I am web browsing in a quiet room it is noticeable.
Ok, I havent had sound on my HP for 8 months. I have done all the troubleshooting I can and I really need to have sound on this PC. I have been working on this all week. Do I need to do a factory restore?? Model XY980UA#ABA, HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook.
We have an HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 7 program. Until yesterday it was working fine. But now we do not have any sound from it except when playing CDs or media music. Have tried and checked several setting etc. but cannot correct this problem. Laptop sound test is ok with and w/out headphones or external but not when trying to listen or hear anything when connected to the internet.
I've recently installed windows 8.1 and now have no sound. The speaker icon in the bottom right corner has a small red x on it, when i have the mouse over it, it says 'no audio output device is installed'. I found that updating the driver in sounds via the at control panel but this the said:
'Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while trying to install it
IDT HD Audio CODEC
A device attached to the system is not functioning'...
I can't set my sound default. I recently got my computer updated and a few hours later, my sound stopped working, then my videos, too. I reinstalled my computer, but when it got to the point where you set sound defult, it wouldn't work. The sections "Configure" and "Properties" worked, but "Set Default" wouldn't. I am so frustrated because I need sound and video to do a lot of things on my computer.
My product name is: Windows 8 HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 PC

I have an older HP Pavilion dv 9000, with Windows 7. I was attempting to watch a video and noticed that the sound was muted. So, initially, I tried to turn it up, but it seemed locked. It had never done that before, so after several failed attempts, the mute sign disappeared and now it's just a red x, and when I go in to check it, it tells me that there is no sound hardware installed. I tried to install a new driver from your website but it is still not working.
