View 4 Replies View RelatedI was taking my Z690 apart to put in a larger hard drive and I did something wrong because the keyboard no longer works even in the bios. The cable seems snug on both ends. I tried removing it from the motherboard and plugging it back in and it still doesn't respond. I've rebooted - pulled the battery booted again - the 6 key is the only key that works. I've tried caps lock - 6 is the only key that types. The touchpad doesn't work either.

I had an automatic update for Windows 8 and my keyboard stopped working immediately after.I have checked device manager and it says there is no keyboard and gives a code of C24.If I go into setup before Windows the keyboard works fine so I know it's not a hardware issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HP pavilion touchsmart sleekbook 14-b133tx laptop running windows 8 and is still in warranty because of a faulty touchscreen. A few days ago my touchpad is not working properly. when i tap the touchpad it does a richt click and when i move my finger in resizes my icons. I look at device manager at it says that the device is working properly.
The touchpad works normally after booting but stops after a few minutes along with the keyboard (i am using the touchscreen as i type this). When i go to the mouse settings there is an error "cannot connect to synaptics pointing device driver" it prompted me to uninstall so i did but the driver won't uninstall. I tried to uninstall it on device manager then rebooted my pc then reinstalled it again but the problem is still present.
Now the touchpad is not working at all and the keyboard stops a few minutes to hours after logging into windows ang fixes itself when i reboot my pc but stops working again after some time. In the device manager there is now an error in the touchpad "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)". I already did a hard reset, the sfc/scannow, a system restore, and I already used system recovery to revert back to its factory settings but the touchpad is still not working (still error code 24) and the keyboard still stops responding after a few minutes.
My laptop is HP Pavilion dv6-3055tx and has win 7 ultimate 64bit installed. From past few days, i noticed that three keys of my keyboard are not working whenever the wifi key is ON.
These keys are:
1-Delete
2-Left Arrow
3-Right arrow
When i turn off wifi key, it works normally. I don't know what the problem really is?
I have an HP Pavilion g6-2293sa Notebook PC, which updated itself automatically last week and as a result the keybard stopped working completely.
I reset the PC to an earlier time point but this did not work. HP's support topics suggested uninstalling my keyboard river, which I did, and then downloading 'original drivers' - but this does not come up as an option on the download page. Likewise, there is no available update under the Driver - Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices link.
Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro on my HP Pavilion (dv7-1223ca) , several keys on my keyboard haven't been working properly. I've upgraded and downgraded my computer many times, and this hasn't happened before. When I press the G, H, backspace, or apostrophe keys, they won't work unless I press one of them around thirty or forty times. Once I get one of them working, they all start to work properly for about five minutes, and then it goes back to being broken.
This is a major hassle as I use my laptop for work. I've tried reinstalling the keyboard drivers, but this hasn't worked
Also, two of the keys on my keyboard (alt and delete) came off completely and won't go back on. Is there any chance HP would be able to replace these?
HP pavilion dv2000 key board not working . I have enabled the online key board that also not working . As my hp utility cd was damaged I have changed the OS to windows 7 ultimate still . The key board is not working .then I used a USB key board that also not working . main problem is that I could not complete my Os Installation with out entering the pc name. The left side speaker (Only the left side) of my laptop is working intermetently. Sometimes it's working, sometimes not. When I tried to tap hard the laptop near the left speaker, sometimes it work but a crackling sound or not clear sound is coming. Should I replace the speaker or a wire inside is loose?
Okay, so. I have an HP Pavilion g6-1145sg. It was working properly all morning, and then I put it to sleep temporarily (about ten to twenty minutes). When I went to turn it on, the screen was black and said something along the lines of "the system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly. Continued operation would not be recommended at this time... may cause unpredictable behaviour that could result in random shut down, data loss or possible system damage."
Then after a few seconds it shuts off completely. There is an option to continue with system resume, and I clicked it once, but it didn't go all the way through to letting me use my laptop properly (I got to my desktop background and it shut down).
I have had it since last August, and it has worked somewhat alright through until today. Of course, the system lags occasionally, but nothing serious, mostly just aggravating.
I have updated my HP Pavilion dv4 1220 US to Windows 7 (64 bit). Every components are working properly. However, my internal speakers does not working. My laptop sound only with a headphones or external speakers.

Laptop working fine. I put it to sleep when I'm done and use the mousepad to wake it up. The fingerprint reader LED will blink, and I can swipe my finger to log on.At some point, after a few times of putting laptop to sleep and waking up, the fingerprint reader does not respond. No blinking LED. I swipe my finger and the reader does not respond at all -- doesn't even tell me that there was a bad read.If I log off and log back on again, no change. However, if I do a reboot, everything is fine--the fingerprint reader is working again.
My system is an HP dv6-6145dx. I am running Windows 7, with latest updates. The built-in fingerprint reader is running on HP Simple Pass 2011 v5.1 and Validity Sensor driver version 4.3.205.0. When I attempt to launch the Simple Pass interface, it loads the database but then the application vanishes. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the software, but this does not make any difference with the issue I noted.
I recently formatted my laptop to windows 7 ultimate and since then can not get my function keys to work. I've reinstalled drivers that I thought might work and nothing.
When I could no longer adjust my brightness is when I noticed that my function keys were not working. Is there any other way to adjust the brightness on my laptop besides the function keys? If so I have not figured it out.
I have a timeline 4810T which has worked lovely since September, but now I have a weird problem with it: The keyboard won't work until the operating system is loaded. I can't access the bios (press the F2 key but nothing happens), neither select my OS on the Grub menu as the arrow keys doesn't work, all I can do is wait for the 10 seconds timer, then Ubuntu launches, then I can login without problems and all the keys work perfectly.
To give more details, maybe some keys do actually work before the os boot, because when I'm on the grub menu, some keys manage to stop the timer, but unfortunately I can't change the OS or accept the selection, then I have to reboot and wait for the timer to go back to 0 for itself and ubuntu loads.
I'm running the newest BIOS, updated some days ago but didn't had the problem since today.

I ordered a dv6 quick-ship model from HP for christmas and I was instantly in love with it. The feature I like the most is the glossy finish on the surface including the KEYBOARD... however, there is this hard drive problem that makes a clicking sound everytime the HDD activity light blinks. So I decided to order another dv6 but this time I ordered a dv6 quad edition customized. Upon receiving the quad edition, opened it, and I was immediately disappointed. Reason is that everything on the suface is the same EXCEPT THE KEYBOARD! the quad edition keyboard is the NON-glossy one and it feels much more rough and cheap and not fit into the overall glossy appearance of the laptop. so I called the HP support and I was told that "All customized dv6 quad got the same non-glossy keyboard I got" The non-glossy one appears and feels much cheaper. I have both laptop side by side and you can totally tell the difference. Not to mention for the battery charger for the customized one I received is much more bulky( twice as big) and the box that came with the laptop is with no HP art markings because it was shipped straight from China internationally.

And after hitting the keys for some time they will start working. It is always the a, s ,d ,f ,h, j, k, l, letters that dont work.It comes and goes. I recently purchased an HP 250 G2 laptop with no operating system (freedos) After Installing windows 7 home premium x64 I went to the HP support web page and downloaded all drivers, installed them and everything seems to work without problems.
The only problem is that the HP support page does not have any drivers for the keyboard and the outcome is that all the FN keys are non functional.
In device manager the keyboard is shown normally because windows 7 automatically installs drivers but these are not 100% compatible so that FN keys would be working.
it is very important to be able to use fn keys so that I can change brightness, sound level, and tun on/ off wifi.
A few days ago I removed two keys from my keyboard (backspace and enter) because some liquid fell onto it. Fortunately I cleaned it and nothing happened until I tried to put the keys back: I really couldn't make them fit correctly. I already tried to look for tutorials for this specific model of keys (including the website laptopkey), but couldn't find any.
It looks like to me that the "backspace" might be damaged but the "enter" looks totally ok. But I'm really not sure.

I struggled with this on 2 occasions. I had found the answer once and couldn't remember the second time around. In searching I found many do not know how to use keys that do not appear on your laptop physical key board. The following info at least works on a Dell XPS 14Z. Let me know if this works for you.

To pull up On Screen Keyboard to type ASCII on XPS 14z Laptop, use the following process. To add text info into Photoshop using ASCII is may be easier to type it in word, then copy and paste.
Click Windows Icon (Open Windows Start Menu)
In the “Search Programs and Files” field, type OSK
Depress <enter>
An on screen keyboard should pop up.
For example to create a Copyright symbol © using ASCII
Hold down the Alt Key on your physical keyboard
While Holding the Alt Key use your cursor or touchpad and on the On Screen Keyboard
Move to 0 and left click
Move to 1 and left click
Move to 6 and left click
Move to 9 and left click
On your physical keyboard Depress<enter>
The © should appear
