Dell :: Can't Start Computer From CD To Reload XP
Mar 22, 2009i have done this several times before on diffrent computer, but this dell desktop is not doing what it suppose to do.
I put the Win xp pro in the cd rom and restarted the computer after I change the boot to boot from CD, and computer go to tart windows. i chnagedeverything and reset to defult and also diconnected the hard drive. nothing works. on F8 i also selected CD rom , and didn't work. this is a 3 years old computer that getting very slow and has too much junk on it from the kids and I want to format it. any ideas how i can go around this.

Aug 27, 2008I am formatting my friends hard drive and loading Windows. He wants only the basic drivers for teh notebook and none of the other Acer crap that pre installed. Can anyone tell me what these basic drivers are? Also I need to know if there is a correct order to install them in. I'm very familiar with Dell's and there is a specific order for them, but this is the first Acer I've done.

Except that just recently, it lost its mind and doesn't recognize that it has a wifi adapter. I'd like to reload the OS, but I think this laptop came without OS and driver CDs. I think the idea back then was that you would go to the website and download that stuff if you ever needed it. I have the Service Tag number, but when I use that, I don't get any options. Warranty expired and all. How I can reload the OS on this machine?

Jun 19, 2012I have 3 thinkpads that after a fresh reload are unable to connect to wireless networks. I have gone through and installed the different wireless drivers on the lenovo support website.I have gone through several steps of similar problems others have had but it hasn't made a difference.
I have installed:
-HotKeys & patch
-Power manager & driver
-Chipset
The realtek network -ethernet adapter and communications LAN driver.I have installed and removed each wireless adapter available

On a side note in the Device manager screen there is a "Network Controller" alert saying no driver installed for this device. I have determined it is some Realtek device but beyond that I am lost.

Dec 16, 2012I bought a new laptop HP Pavilion g7.I got Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter but my problem is that I can only connect to 802.11 n network and I can not use 802.11 g wifi.When I trying to connect 802.11 g wifi it says limited can not download any webpage but I should use it with this Ralink 802.11 bgn adapter yes? I have already updated the Wifi adapter but didn't work I turned off every firewall and antivirus software and I have already writing by manually IP address ,subnet mask etc...I got window 8 software. what has windows 7 I can connect without any trouble to 802.11 g wifi! I'd like to use 802.11 g because the signal strength is stronger than 802.11 n .I can receive the signal from 802.11 g wifi network somehow.

Apr 2, 2013My pavilion g6 laptop's wifi adapter hasn't been working correcty recently. my internet router and networks are running fine as they should be, but every time i reboot my laptop, it keeps saying that there is no connection and no other wifi netowrks, when there clearly is other networks because of my surrounding neighbours.
I have tried a system restore to resolve the problem, but it has no affect and my norton is affecting the system restore of disabling the antivirus.

Nov 17, 2014I'm using HP Pavilion Dv4 3106tx. I do'nt know what happened but out of no where my wifi adapter somehow stopped working. whenever I enable my wifi button, the bluetooth only works and the wifi icon that usually shows on the lower right of the Taskbar doesn't show. I also checked the Device manager>Network Adapters, the wifi adapter is not there. I also tried "Scan for hardware changes" but still there is no Wifi adapter showing up.
Right now I'm just connecting through ethernet for internet connection because my wifi is not working.

I used to be able to reinstall the driver and get it working again, however lately nothing works. I have installed sp59632, 58515, 64041, 58944, and 64825 and none are working. My computer does not even show the option to turn the bluetooth on from the pc settings menu. But the Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter is not detecting the wifi which is worked properly before resetting the OS. when i run the troubleshoot option under HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT it shows a red mark while resetting the adapter.

Nov 9, 2009I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and my friend has a Latitude D820.
Tonight she accidentally plugged my power adapter into her laptop. A few hours later, she noticed that her laptop indicated that it wasn't plugged in, and that's when we realized that she had accidentally used my adapter instead of hers.
Now my adapter doesn't work at all. We've tried the adapter with both our laptops with different outlets with the same problem, so we know it's the adapter. The green light also doesn't come on when it's plugged in anymore.
Did plugging my adapter into her laptop somehow screw up my adapter, or could this just be a coincidence? Is there any way to fix the adapter or at least figure out what the problem is? And if I have to purchase a new adapter, do the universal ones they sell at retail electronics stores work OK? I would order one from Dell but I'm working on a project now and I don't have time to wait for it to ship.

Dec 12, 2009I was watching a movie upstairs and the adapter was working perfectly fine. I unplugged it and went downstairs, then replugged it in and the little light that indicates the laptop is charging, would not show up.
I put the adapter to my ear and heard the very faint beep/buzz noise it makes, making me believe that it's working fine.
Well I plugged in the adapter to my father's Dell notebook, then plugged it into my laptop and it's working perfectly fine.
Is there anything I can do for my HP battery? I mean, the last time something like this happened with an HP I had, the adapter wasn't even making the faint noise, it was just dead. I ended up having to buy a universal one. I would use that one for this notebook except, it doesn't fit into the slot.
