Lenovo U/S Series :: IdeaPad U300s Boot Error After Canceling Installation Win7 From USB
Jul 13, 2014
I tried to install a new version of Win7 on my ideapad U300s from a usb that set to be a bootable device containing *iso file.
I also set USB as first boot priority in BIOS setting, of course. But when the installation began, I canceled them all and restarted my laptop but found it troubled.
Here is its error report.
From then, I can no longer boot my laptop from USB as well as enter BIOS setting to set back HDD as first boot priority.
Both Enter/ESC make it restart and then turn to this dumb black screen.
I think I should remove the BIOS battery to turn BIOS setting into its default, shouldn't I?

I researched I need the Intel SATA AHCI Driver for performing a clean Windows 7 installation
I tried:
1. Mobile Express Chipset SAAT AHCI controler drivers from the (a) Intel websites (b) Lenovo website and (c) extracting drivers from running system
2. tried supplying drivers on DVD/CD and USB
3. tried to integrate drivers into Windows 7 Installation using RT7Lite
4. did bios update
5. switched from AHCO to compatible mode
In any case it finds the driver as the correct one (when I click hide drivers that are not compatible, the one remains). But always displays no driver found and doesn't continue setup.
This seems to be a bug!!!
1. Is there a way to fix this and perform a clean Windows 7 installation without recovery?
2. Am I trying the wrong driver, but have to install a driver for a different device first???
I am about to replace the HDD with an SDD and there can not use recovery!

I bought a new Lenovo G510 laptop. I downloaded Windows 8.1 from Microsoft DreamSpark, and burned ISO image on a DVD disc. When I try to install it on my laptop, I receive an error (it might be wrong translated):
Load Driver
A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB, or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now.
Note: If the installation media for Windows in the DVD drive or on a USB drive, you can safely remove it for this step.
I already tried changing the following options in BIOS but no effect:
Configuration tab -> SATA Controller Mode from AHCI to Compatible
Boot tab -> Boot Mode from UEFI to Legacy Support
Boot tab -> Boot Priority from UEFI First to Legacy First
Also, I tried to insert CD with drivers which was in the box, but - of course - no appropiate drivers were found.
What happened? How am I supposed to install a Windows 8.1? What should I try?

My Ideapad y480 has been having some severe issues lately related to booting. Whenver I try to reboot my computer (which runs Windows 8) I get the Windows 8 version of the BSOD (the frowny face screen). It tells me that my computer has encountered an error and needs to shut down, and it gave me an error code of 0xc0000021a. Sometimes the computer will boot perfectly normally, but around 75% of the time it crashes like this. It seems to always happen after any major changes are made (Windows updates, updates for games, etc.).
The only way for me to get into my computer again is to do a system restore to before any changes were made. If a new restore point is made and any change whatsoever has been made, I often get another error message, and the system restore fails. These problems don't occur 100% of the time, but its very hard to use the computer when I can't update programs or Windows without issues. I looked other places online and a few of the pointed towards the hard drive failing or reinstalling the OS, but I thought I should ask for any less drastic solutions that could work.

I bought the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 and I'm trying to boot from a USB drive in order to install Windows on it. When I start the boot menu I only see the hard-drive, the DVD and the network. I tried to set both UEFI mode and Legacy mode in BIOS but the USB stick does not appear in the menu when I boot. I put the image of windows with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool which formats the stick in NTFS mode.
I have the latest BIOS v1.21 and I tried with 2 different USB sticks: one 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair and with a 32GB USB 3.0 ADATA both on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the notebook. I really haven't seen anything like this in my entire career.
I even downloaded the file efiootBOOTX64.efi and replaced the one that Windows come with on the specified folder on the USB stick ....
Why is so difficult to choose the USB boot drive on the newer notebooks? How can I boot from USB?

Just got the y510p laptop and am trying to install Ubuntu so I have this bootable DVD and I wanted to try Ubuntu before installing as usual but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On boot menu options there is only EFI and some kind of network options but no dvd. I tried following instructions here but no matter how many times I press F1 during startup, I can't get to boot menu and windows starts directly: [URL] Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is ubuntu 13.10 supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot. I don't understand why there is no option to reorder boot devices like on all my older PCs.
I manage to get BIOS setup pressing restart and shift and then selecting UEFI firware settings and I do get to bios setups but again no way to find the option for booting on a dvd.

I'm trying to Install Debian GNU/Linux on my Windows 8 Ideapad Z710, and I can't even get my laptop to boot from external media. From the InsydeH20 Setup Utility, I've so far disabled Secure Boot, set Boot Mode to UEFI, enabled USB Boot, enabled PXE Boot to LAN, and set my EFI boot order to 1) EFI Network 0 for IPv4, 2) EFI Network 0 for IPv6, then 3) Windows Boot Manager (no other options). I'm not actually trying to boot from a network, I just want to boot from the onboard DVD drive or my USB DVD drive. When I boot with these settings, I get the error: EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (...) boot failed, then a similar one for IPv6, then it boots to Windows. Why can't I boot from DVD or USB?
Another thing I've tried is setting Boot Mode to Legacy Support and Boot Priority to Legacy First (with Secure Boot disabled) which results in my laptop booting to straight to Windows even when USB ODD is first in the boot order.

My Lenovo z570 will not boot from CD. I have the system recovery CDs and another bootable CD that work in another Lenovo so I know the discs are fine. The boot order is set properly (CD first) and even hitting F12 on the boot up and selecting the CD drive again doesn't work. The drive does work - I can burn and play CDs. I uninstalled the drive and reinstalled and updated the BIOS to the latest. I see others with this problem have been advised to change UEFI or Secure Boot setting but these options are not available in my BIOS.

I got my Ideapad y410p a week ago. It came with Windows 8 and many useless softwares installed. It was taking around 3 minutes of time and immediately i updated my os to 8.1 (x64). Even after updating to 8.1, the boot time didn't get any better. I unistalled useless softwares like Mcafee, Cyberlink tools and many and installed AntiVir and Visual Studio. Turn on Fast startup is also enabled. But what is painful is it still takes 2 minutes and 31 seconds plus to load my desktop. What is more painful to me is My old laptop (Amd Dual Core, 3GB Ram with Many softwares installed with windows 7) loads earlier than this.

I have an IdeaPad V570 that experienced a total hard drive failure (be careful how hard to close the laptop in frustration) I had Best Buy try to recover data and opted not to pay for the recovery after the only crucial data did not seem to have been recovered. Best Buy told me the rest of the system seems to be intact so they could install a new Hard Drive if I wanted it back. They made me offers to completely restore the system at a price but I decided to save money thinking I should be able to restore the system myself. So they installed the hard drive and that was it.
I decided to go with Windows 8 after learning that support was beginning to wain for Windows 7. I purchased the OS from Best Buy and I am attempting to install it. So far that is not going well. The BIOS sees the CDDVDW drive and the HDD, both are listed in the BOOT menu with the right names. However the computer is not booting from the WIndows disk. I get a message ending with :
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
At which point it take me to the Boot Menu. I can see the order I have set for Booting is:
1. ATAPI CD: TZSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633F
2. ATA HDD: WDC WD10JPVX-22JC3T0
3. PCI LAN: Realtek PXE B03 D00
It seems to me that the system is trying to boot in that order but the CDDVD drive is not responding, the HDD has nothing on it so it goes for the PCI LAN and there is nothing for it to do so it returns the error an sends me back to the Boot Menu.

I have a Lenovo Y410P that will not boot. The BIOS only sees to PXE boot. It does not attempt to boot from the Windows 8 installation disc, or from the hard drive that I reinstalled Windows on myself. I can boot to both of these on other computers, so I know they are not the problem. I'm thinking it's BIOS or motherboard related, but I'm not sure where to go from here.

My z500 cannot boot up without power cable plugged in. Usually,a few seconds after I saw the lenovo logo, the system will suddenly shut down just like the battery was removed.however,if I connect powercable to the laptop and power on,everything is fine,I can enter windows 8,or ubuntu, after I enter OS,I can disconnect the power cable without any problems.the battery is healthy and can last for more than 2 hours.
So far I tried the following methods:
1.update BIOS
2.update battery firmware
3.reset BIOS
none of them worked for me....

Yesterday, I updated to win 8.1. The process appeared to go smoothly, but I now have a number of issues:
1 If I close the lid and reopen, the sytem does not wake up. It does not wake up if I press the power button. All I can do is a hard shutdown and reboot. This occasionally gives an error message on restart, but has not produced any solutions.
2 There is a message about secure boot not being configured
3 The support app has a cross on it and won't work
No doubt there are other problems, but number 1 is the killer....

For the first week or two it worked fine and everything was going really well. Then about a week or two ago it started acting up. It is freezing programs(firefox, IE, Chrome, explorer, Flash CC, blender, and a few other programs I needed to install for school. It sometimes freezes on startup and I have to hold the power button down to restart it. Sometimes when it restarts it takes 10-15 mins to fully boot up and load up to the login screen.

I have a Thinkpad Twist. I started it up and got a thermal sensing error before the boot screen. I looked up the error on various forums, tried turning it off to see if the message would still be there. When I rebooted it, it went away. Should I still be concerned for the fan or CPU?
My laptop has been overheating before this, but it's never shut itself down, even after the error message.

Things I've tried/ Things others have suggested and did not work:

Trying it in other apps besides camera
Check device manager for driver issues
Update Drivers

I just got my brand new Y510P and realized that is unable to start Windows. Initially it displayed error "Windows could not parse or process unattend... [...unattend.xml] for pass [oobeSystem]..."
After reboot it start displaying another message - "Windows could not complete the installation... restart the installation".
The operation system is Windows 8.1.
Looks like I'm not the only person with this problem. System recovery doesn't work, obviously (as well as graceful Lenovo tech support).
I think that the problem caused by incorrect unattend.xml file which fails to install some unnesessary software and because of this error blocks Windows from finishing the installation.
I see no other way rather than install Windows from another source. I don't want to pay for another Windows license and rather send the laptop back to Lenovo, but maybe there is another way?

Basically I am trying to install a new Samsung SSD into a W530, however, I can not get the Bios or Windows instalation to see it (when you select what drive you want to install windows on).
I can externally attach the SSD to my other laptop and see the drive. I can create partitions, format them, etc. But none of that worked my original issue.
I have also updated to the latest BIOS version, tried turning off UEFI, no luck.
What I am missing here to get this SSD to show up?

I've just received my brand new Lenovo G510 and installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit onto it.Most of the drivers from the attached CD installed without any problems (though I was quite surprised that no newer versions were available on the Support wrbpage) but I can't install audio driver.Apparently this series is equipped in either Conexant or Realtek audio chips and the provided setup application is desigend to detect the correct chip and run the appropriate driver installation program.
The problem is that setup is not working for me. All I receive is the notification "This utility can not be used on this machine". Since there are no "orphan" audio devices in the Device Manager, I can't really tell which audio chipset is installed in my machine. I don't want to install both dirvers as it may just cause confilcts. How can I say which audio chipset is installed and install the correct driver?

I just got couple of days old Lenovo IdeaPad z50-75, running on AMD FX-7500.First I jsut now noticed that my CPU runs at 1.07 Ghz, before it was always over 2 Ghz or so which was good ... but maybe I touched something some where in powr settings or something and now it stays on 1.07 even when cpu pretty much utilised. I have set power plan to high performance and also Energy manager is set to high performance mode and Conservation mode is on. why it doesn't clock itself up ? I feel that it is slower than before.

I recently got this laptop and wanted to upgrade to Windows 8.1 immediatly since it came with Windows 7. This was of course and option with the disc set that came with the laptop. Unfortunately i have encountered problems in the installation/recovery of Windows 8.1.
When the laptop is finished using the actual disc's (i say finished because it spits out disc 4 which is the last one) and is booting into the OS to do the last installing it "freezes" in the middle of "dowork.cmd". In the cmd window it tries to access a destination directory which it can't. Instead of writing it here, i'm just gonna link a picture of it:
I just don't understand why simple recovery discs would cause a failure... Googling the problem has only lead to this: URL....

In a few days I'll get my IdeaPad U310, and since it comes with 4GB DDR RAM, I'd like to do a upgrade to 8 GB. I understand it only has one slot for RAM, so I'll buy one stick of course, but I don't know if it's the same size as used in a desktop PC, or is it some mini-sized RAM stick?
I also need to know the voltage of it, is it 1.5V or different?

Whenever I try to install the ELAN/Synaptics driver that I download from my laptop's support page I get an error saying: no Appropriate Driver to be installed.I'm on Windows 7 64bit...I've tried tons of drivers and I'm starting to get seriously annoyed. Non of them work all of them throw error messages and I'm getting more and more irritated with the obnoxious tap to click functionality. I don't even need the driver as I need the annoying tap to click disabled and maybe some kind of scrolling functionality would be nice if it's possible.

I recently recieved a y410p ideapad I ordered off the lenova website. However, it won't start up. When I try, it brings me to a blue screen with a sad face that says I need to do an automatic repair. This flashes for about two seconds before disappearing and the screen becomes grey and says "lenovo" and "Starting Automatic Repair". From this the screen goes completly grey, and has nothing on it. The computer stays this way for hours and the fan will continue to run. I've tried the reset button on the side and resetting the laptop, but no matter what I do I end up back at that grey screen.

I purchased this Ideapad Z50-70 laptop two days back. It was DOS based so I had to install Windows 8.1 OS myself. After installing the OS, I installed all the drivers for this laptop.
The display of the laptop is set to Full HD resolution i.e. 1920*1080. However, it doesn't look as sharp and crips as a normal HD display should be. The text and other things looks blurred. Also, the contrast of the screen doesn't seem well. Though the resolution is set to Full HD, I'm not feeling the quality smoothness and sharpness of the full HD display.
