I've had this laptop for about a year or two and all of sudden my two left usb 3.0 ports stop working, although when I first turn on my laptop, the left side works for about a second and then stops working. My right usb port which is the 2.0 one works just fine.

I tried plugging several devices into a USB 3.0 port on my z510 this morning to no avail. The USB 2.0 port is working(I have a mouse plugged into it and it works fine) but the USB 3 ports will not work at all. I tried looking at device manager; it says everything is working properly. Power management doesn't turn any of the ports off.
It was working fine 2 days ago. Is it possible to turn the ports off? Because nothing is being recognized.
I looked for drivers on Lenovo's site; no USB drivers for windows 8.1 at ALL. What do I do?
Recently I bought a Y500. After installing the Windows 7 X64 and start a conversation on Skype fot the first time webcam worked without problem. After two days I tried to make a video call but the camera does not start ... Circle rotates the camera LED lights up but the screen is black.
I tried the site. Testmycam.com has image but blurred. Reinstalling drivers, i installed an old version of Skype version 4.2 but problem not resolved...
Background: I bought my refurbished Lenovo Y500 laptop in June. It came with a 1TB HDD and a 16GB SSD for caching.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought my Y500 a few days ago and happy with it in general. However, one day the two-finger-tap (for right click) on the touchpad stopped working. Below is a description.
Everything else as far as I can tell, including two-finger scroll and one-finger tap and so forth, are working fine, but the two-finger tap stopped working even though it worked fine for a few days. I have a suspicious as to what caused it but I'm not entirely sure. In any case I think it's most likely a bug, and probably software.
One day I went into "control panel" -> "mouse" -> "device settings" -> "settings..." -> "Scrolling" -> "two-finger scrolling" -> "enable coasting". I played with coasting for a while, and soon disabled it again because I didn't really like it. However, it was then that I noticed that my two-finger tap stopped working. I have doubled-checked that "control panel" -> "mouse" -> "device settings" -> "settings..." -> "clicking" -> "two-finger click" is set to "secondary click (context menu, special drag)", but the two-finger click still doesn't work, even after a restarted. I downloaded the latest driver (version 16.2.18.0) and it still didn't work. I uninstalled the driver and installed it again and it still doesn't work. Now I like using the touchpad, but really hate living without two-finger tap for right-clicking.
As you see below the one with the icon of mic alone is the built-in microphone[the second one], I have the default drivers that are installed during installation of windows 8.1 pro 32bit.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I recieved my Y510p about 8 months ago, the usb ports worked perfectly fine. Around October they stopped working properly. The only solution which I found to work was doing a system restore. When I did this, an Unrecognized Device in the Device Manager was no longer unrecognized, and was instead replaced by USB xHCL (or something along those lines). However, as soon as i restared my computer again, the ports broke, and the unrecognized device reappeared. Repeating the restore followed by a restart breaks the ports every time.

But I can't get the 2 USB 3.0 ports working. If I plug in a keyboard I get no power to the keyboard.
I have 2 unknown devices in Device Manager. I have installed all drivers matching my system.

Recently I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad S510p with DOS installed in it.
Then I installed Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64, and downloaded all Windows 7 drivers from the lenovo support website.
But the left two USB 3 ports don't detect at all. They are not working.
I've installed win7 64bit on my Ideapad S410p. The problem is 2 USB3.0 ports can't be used, only 1 USB2.0 that can be used. The driver was installed and nothing wrong. In order to use USB3.0, I need to plug in the device and then restart my laptop. I must do that every time plug to USB3.0.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a T430s computer model 2352CTO, running Windows 8.1, 64-bit version. Prior to upgrade from Windows 8.0 all drivers were updated. The USB 3 ports worked correctly, in particular running an external 1gb hard drive. After update to 8.1, the USB 3 ports still work, but only for about 30 seconds then the hard drive shuts down. The power light is still lit on the hard drive, but it no longer shows in windows explorer.
In device manager, I went to Universal Serial Bus Controllers -> USB Root Hub ->Properties->(under General it says "This device is working properly)->Power Management->Unchecked the box for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Unfortunately this does not seem to stop problem.
I have this Lenovo Y500 with Nvidia GT 750M, and there's a sticker on it that says "Ultrabay".
1- Can I get another GFX and insert it instead of the DVD Rom ? FOR SURE ?
2- Should this additional GFX be another 750M , or can it be a more recent model ?
3- Is it guaranteed that SLI will work under Windows 8.1 ?
4- Will there be a significant improvement in performance after adding another GFX ? Are there any tests and validated benchmarks ?
5- Where can I get such a good, compatible additional GFX that will surely work with my Y500 laptop ?
I downloaded the BIOS package from the link: [URL] ..... but I don't know how to update the BIOS. I tried running the file Winflash_Yx00s.bat as Admin but nothing happens. Do I need to flash it using a USB stick and if so then how to do it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a Y500 a few months ago and I bought a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD along with it. Mine didn't come with the 16GB mSATA SSD for caching so I decided to replace the original 1TB HDD with a 256GB SSD. I also had a copy of Windows 8 Professional that I bought for my desktop. Since I wasn't using my desktop anymore I decided to move 8 Pro to the Y500. And it wouldn't let me format and reinstall, I'd get an error saying "The product key does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key."
I cloned my HDD on to an SSD with Acronis True Image Home. Then I stuck the SSD in my laptop and then selected repair my computer after booting into the 8 Pro disc. And from there I selected the option to reset my PC. Then once it reset it became extremely fast and stuff. And from the add features to Windows 8 option I entered the Productkey I got with 8 Pro and it allowed me to upgrade. Then once the 8.1 update came out I updated immediately.
Now for the last few days my laptop has been getting laggy. So I decided to reset it again. And now when I try to it says that the required recovery partition is missing, I don't recall deleting any of the partitions I cloned the drive perfectly and had also been able to reset it once before. Anyway, now my 1TB HDD is inside my PS3 and I'm stuck with a laggy Y500 that takes 20 seconds to boot up on an SSD and I'm trying to figure out a way out of this mess. Is it possible to get recovery discs?. My Y500 is the model that has a single NVIDIA 2GB GT750 and an intel core i7 3632QM.
i had purchased a Lenovo y500 about a month back. I have WiFi issues when i put the laptop on sandby and then start up.When the laptop starts after stand by it sometimes shows no networks available which usually gets solved after turning wifi on and off or turnig airplane mode on and off.
although sometimes it will show the wifi network but will be unable to connect and sometimes will connect and drop within a few mins after which it wont show any networks. these issues are more frequent when on battery than charging.
I have unticked the "turn off to save power" option in the network adapter setting.happens with Bluetooth turned off also drivers are updated to latest

I have problem with High CPU Frequency and Voltage when set on High Preformance, frequency is over 3,2 GHZ, and Voltage is 20+ Wat, even if CPU usage is from 0 to 10 %.

Two days earlier I replaced 16Gb SSD with new 120GB SSD, reinstall system, install latest realtek audio drivers. After this I cant change settings of audio effects.
My Y500 (one of the older models) has some weird display issues for some time now. When I try to adjust the screen angle, some horizontal green lines appear randomly on my screen. Some other parts also have vertical magenta lines. Then I have to try several angles until I find a position where the display doesn't show any problems. This happens almost every time when I open the display and turn it on. Sometimes it is less of a problem and sometimes more. If I don't move the laptop or the screen the problem does not show up. My drivers should all be up to date and I have Windows 8.1.

Sometimes, if I have time to wait, it takes more than one hour. 90% of the time, I restart it using the on/off button. No problems at all using the button, but the software takes a VERY long time or won't restart at all--just the green screen with the word "restart."
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I've been having problems with the battery discharging while plugged in while playing some games (Civilization V and Sniper Elite V2 are the ones I've noticed the most). In the case of Civilization V, it also causes the game to lag to the point of being unplayable. The battery notification when scrolled over says "plugged in, not charging" and does so indefinitely until the computer shuts off from lack of power. It also decreases the battery life to just about an hour and fifteen minutes when discharging like this.
because it doesn't seem to happen with every single game I own. Sims 3, Saint's Row the Third, Skyrim, etc. do not suffer from this problem. I've already tried uninstalling the games with this problem and reinstalling them, but that doesn't seem to work.
I messed up with my Ideapad Y500 system. And as a result I lost my genuine operating system that was provided with the notebook. I had backed up all the important data. The problem is that which version of windows I should install inoderd to use my original key which is saved in the bios. I tried to install Window 8 x64 version. But my key didn't work. Now I am using an evaluation version of windows. The Original windows was Windows 8 x64 single language. Where can I get this OS.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had two of the same Windows 8.1 OS on my Y500 (Cloned from original to SSD). Then Last night I tried to 'refresh without affecting your files' option for my OS on the HDD so I have a fresh OS to go back to incase anything happend. then on the Lenovo screen it said that the E: drive was being refreshed as well so I freaked and turned off the computer. NOw I cant access either of the OS's. What should I do? I did do a back up right before and the back up files are still there in a partition I made in the HDD. I used a USB boot of Puppy LInux to see the files on my HDD but it would not let me transfer it to an External Hard Drive. I will Try to install a better linux and try to transfer the OKR files to another Drive.
-how would I go about restoring the back up files if I were to get them on another drive?
Shortly after I received my laptop, I installed a third-party battery monitor, BatteryCare, to monitor the battery in the laptop because I'd used it on previous software and liked having a second source of information. I've been running the laptop like a desktop for the last few months though and havent had to pay any attention to batter life, since the thing is always plugged in so I decided to delete BatteryCare.
The uninstall went fine, but when I restarted the computer I noticed that the icon displaying remaining battery life did not reappear. I went digging to see if the uninstallation might have uninstalled a driver but I couldn't find anything indicating a problem like this. I still have the Energy Monitor - just nothing showing up much juice is left in the battery.
Any pointers on what drivers/devices I might have to reinstall to get power monitor icon back. I checked the Driver Matrix, here, but I couldn't find anything about solution. Should I just reinstall the Energy Management utility?
Okay so, I got my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 a couple days ago. Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. The only way I could get my touchpad to work again is by restarting the computer, which is pretty frustrating.
I searched this: [URL] .... for ANY drivers/software for the Y500 mousepad and there are none.
FN + F6 toggles the touchpad on and off and I have tried to turn it on and off, with and without the external mouse connected.
I purchased a manufacturer refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad T410 2522EC8 a few days ago. My USB ports are simply not responding to anything. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. The only sign the USB ports show is when I plug in my mouse, the mouse lights up, but it doesn't actually work. Also, when I look under disk management, the only drives that show up are System Reserved, C: Drive, and D: Drive.

problem is my usb ports are working great in pre installed win 8.1 but now in win 7 just one port is working and it is usb port 2.0 and other two are 3.0 and not working!
All 4 of the usb ports on my dv8000 stopped working. Ive tried updating the drivers, no luck. It originally had XP as the operating system but it was upgraded to windows 7, i dont knows if the usb drives are corrupt or what. When i plug anything into the usb ports it does nothing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a y500 Lenovo gaming laptop with Windows 8, and for the past couple of days, each time my laptop is put in hibernation or powered down, whenever I turn it back on it gives me this message:
"Default Boot Device Missing or boot failed Insert recovery media and hit any key Then select boot manager to choose a new boot device to boot or recovery media."
Then it brings me to a page with 3 boot options, and only the Windows Boot Manager works. I'm doing scans and hardware scans but so far nothing is being found. This laptop is less than 2 months old so I really don't think it's a hardware problem, and I haven't downloaded anything recently that may have messed this up. I would contact Lenovo but I'm unsure if this is an issue with the laptop, or Windows 8.
