Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Y500 Webcam Has Stopped Working
Jun 7, 2013Recently I bought a Y500. After installing the Windows 7 X64 and start a conversation on Skype fot the first time webcam worked without problem. After two days I tried to make a video call but the camera does not start ... Circle rotates the camera LED lights up but the screen is black.
I tried the site. Testmycam.com has image but blurred. Reinstalling drivers, i installed an old version of Skype version 4.2 but problem not resolved...
Lenovo Y500 P/Y/Z Series :: Both USB 3.0 Ports Not Working Windows 8.1
May 27, 2013I've had this laptop for about a year or two and all of sudden my two left usb 3.0 ports stop working, although when I first turn on my laptop, the left side works for about a second and then stops working. My right usb port which is the 2.0 one works just fine.

Apr 21, 2013I bought my Y500 a few days ago and happy with it in general. However, one day the two-finger-tap (for right click) on the touchpad stopped working. Below is a description.
Everything else as far as I can tell, including two-finger scroll and one-finger tap and so forth, are working fine, but the two-finger tap stopped working even though it worked fine for a few days. I have a suspicious as to what caused it but I'm not entirely sure. In any case I think it's most likely a bug, and probably software.
One day I went into "control panel" -> "mouse" -> "device settings" -> "settings..." -> "Scrolling" -> "two-finger scrolling" -> "enable coasting". I played with coasting for a while, and soon disabled it again because I didn't really like it. However, it was then that I noticed that my two-finger tap stopped working. I have doubled-checked that "control panel" -> "mouse" -> "device settings" -> "settings..." -> "clicking" -> "two-finger click" is set to "secondary click (context menu, special drag)", but the two-finger click still doesn't work, even after a restarted. I downloaded the latest driver (version 16.2.18.0) and it still didn't work. I uninstalled the driver and installed it again and it still doesn't work. Now I like using the touchpad, but really hate living without two-finger tap for right-clicking.

Feb 12, 2012My Y410p is about six months old. Today, while using the computer, the touchpad stopped working suddenly.
Touchpad is enabled in mouse settings, and device manager says drivers are up to date and that the device is working.
However, the touchpad is completely unresponsive, and restarting the computer didn't do anything. Is there anything else that could be done? Or should I believe that this is hardware failure?
Lenovo Y560 P/Y/Z Series :: Wireless Just Stopped Working
Jun 6, 2010My wireless worked fine last night. Got up this morning, turned the computer on, and the wireless does not work. Here's what I've done so far:
* Using fn+F5 I've ensured the wireless is turned on.
* When I try to connect wirelessly I get "error 651 modem not working." But the wireless works with the other twocomputers in my house, and when I hook up directly to the modem/router (Motorola 3347 from Qwest) with anEthernet cable, the Y560 works fine. So I do not think the modem is the problem.
* Tried to "auto detect" driver update using the Lenovo support, but that was useless. It did not autodetect anything.
* From the Lenovo site, it looks like the wireless drivers for the Y560 are all from March, and I got the computer in lateMay, so I should have the latest drivers installed anyway.
Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: X300 Wireless Stopped Working
May 8, 2014Sometimes the machine does not show any wireless networks and I have been able to solve it by turning on and off the hardware switch for wireless on the back of the machine. This time I can not get the machine to find any wireless networks. I am running XP. The only think different that I noticed is that MS Security Essesntials has ended support for XP.

Sep 15, 2014i could hear something rattling inside but laptop was working fine so i just left it alone. But 2 days ago it seems that harddrive completely stopped working, windows is not booting up and in bios it says it didnt detect any harddrive. So i opened botom cover to see if maybe that rattling was some loose screw and that made harddrive not work and there was a loose screw and i screw it back in (it was just a screw on the bottom not the one that holds harddrive. But my harddrive seems to not work at all and making weird noises when i turn laptop on.

Jun 23, 2014I've bought a Lenovo G575 three years ago, my warranty isn't active anymore. The fan in my laptop stopped working yesterday, and now when I do something that is CPU intensive, the Laptop shuts down because of the overheat.
Is there a way to buy a new fan? Should I open the laptop and take a look at the fan, to see if it can be fixed without changing the fan.

Nov 15, 2014I tried plugging several devices into a USB 3.0 port on my z510 this morning to no avail. The USB 2.0 port is working(I have a mouse plugged into it and it works fine) but the USB 3 ports will not work at all. I tried looking at device manager; it says everything is working properly. Power management doesn't turn any of the ports off.
It was working fine 2 days ago. Is it possible to turn the ports off? Because nothing is being recognized.
I looked for drivers on Lenovo's site; no USB drivers for windows 8.1 at ALL. What do I do?

Recently my bluetooth mouse has stopped working after a few minutes of use. If I switch the mouse off and then on again it works again. I assumed that it was a problem with the mouse so I purchased a new one.
Guess what. The same problem.
Now with two blutooth mice displaying the same problem I am guessing that the trouble lies within the laptop, but what to do to identify whats going wrong.

Jun 4, 2014I have a 2014 X1 Carbon (Gen 2) and my ethernet dongle stopped working this morning. It worked fine for the past 3 weeks but after rebooting this morning i can't get to get access to the network via the ethernet port anymore.
The port's activity lights don't light up and a network connection is never recognized.
I have checked the Device Manager and verified that I have the latest drivers (12.11.77.1 for Intel I218-LM), and made sure that the Power Settings do not allow the port to go to sleep. I have also tried 3 different ethernet dongles, all behaving the same way.
I was able to use a USB-to-Ethernet dongle to get access with a ethernet cable. Is my port just dead? I don't see any visible damage, or loose connectors.

I have updated all the software using "Lenovo update and drivers" but it did not work (BIOS image also was updated during this process). I doubt that it is hardware fault because I have Linux OS installed as dual boot among with Windows, and no problems there with logging in using fingerprint reader (fingerprint-gui package)...

May 22, 2013I have this Lenovo Y500 with Nvidia GT 750M, and there's a sticker on it that says "Ultrabay".
1- Can I get another GFX and insert it instead of the DVD Rom ? FOR SURE ?
2- Should this additional GFX be another 750M , or can it be a more recent model ?
3- Is it guaranteed that SLI will work under Windows 8.1 ?
4- Will there be a significant improvement in performance after adding another GFX ? Are there any tests and validated benchmarks ?
5- Where can I get such a good, compatible additional GFX that will surely work with my Y500 laptop ?

Jan 24, 2014I bought a Y500 a few months ago and I bought a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD along with it. Mine didn't come with the 16GB mSATA SSD for caching so I decided to replace the original 1TB HDD with a 256GB SSD. I also had a copy of Windows 8 Professional that I bought for my desktop. Since I wasn't using my desktop anymore I decided to move 8 Pro to the Y500. And it wouldn't let me format and reinstall, I'd get an error saying "The product key does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key."
I cloned my HDD on to an SSD with Acronis True Image Home. Then I stuck the SSD in my laptop and then selected repair my computer after booting into the 8 Pro disc. And from there I selected the option to reset my PC. Then once it reset it became extremely fast and stuff. And from the add features to Windows 8 option I entered the Productkey I got with 8 Pro and it allowed me to upgrade. Then once the 8.1 update came out I updated immediately.
Now for the last few days my laptop has been getting laggy. So I decided to reset it again. And now when I try to it says that the required recovery partition is missing, I don't recall deleting any of the partitions I cloned the drive perfectly and had also been able to reset it once before. Anyway, now my 1TB HDD is inside my PS3 and I'm stuck with a laggy Y500 that takes 20 seconds to boot up on an SSD and I'm trying to figure out a way out of this mess. Is it possible to get recovery discs?. My Y500 is the model that has a single NVIDIA 2GB GT750 and an intel core i7 3632QM.

Sep 13, 2013i had purchased a Lenovo y500 about a month back. I have WiFi issues when i put the laptop on sandby and then start up.When the laptop starts after stand by it sometimes shows no networks available which usually gets solved after turning wifi on and off or turnig airplane mode on and off.
although sometimes it will show the wifi network but will be unable to connect and sometimes will connect and drop within a few mins after which it wont show any networks. these issues are more frequent when on battery than charging.
I have unticked the "turn off to save power" option in the network adapter setting.happens with Bluetooth turned off also drivers are updated to latest

Jun 10, 2014My Y500 (one of the older models) has some weird display issues for some time now. When I try to adjust the screen angle, some horizontal green lines appear randomly on my screen. Some other parts also have vertical magenta lines. Then I have to try several angles until I find a position where the display doesn't show any problems. This happens almost every time when I open the display and turn it on. Sometimes it is less of a problem and sometimes more. If I don't move the laptop or the screen the problem does not show up. My drivers should all be up to date and I have Windows 8.1.
