Lenovo Yoga 13 Flex :: Windows 8.1 Final - Miracast Not Working
Oct 17, 2013
I have just installed the final version of Windows 8.1. The thing I've moserly been waiting for is Miracast.
As for now when I search for wireless displays (Add new device menu) it doesn't appear to find my TV. (An unpaired Android device can)
I'm thinking about driver issues with 8.1..

I have a Yoga 13 and have been avoiding the 8.1 update but was forced upon me yesterday. Media player stopped working but found the update on this site.
However all old videos now play fine but new ones taken today will not and just says 'Windows Media Player has stopped working'.

Windows 8 was upgraded to Windows 8.1 Upgrade on a Flex 15.
The first time I tried to do the upgrade, I had enough problems that I re-installed from a Windows 8.1 image. All went well and all the drivers work except the Ethernet. The upgrade was relatively painless if you ignore the necessary reboots.
The latest Ethernet driver was downloaded from Lenovo and it was upgraded through Device Manager to version 8.26.218.201
In spite of Device Manager saying the Realtek ethernet adapter is working, no network is recognized by Networks and Sharing Centrewith when an ethernent cable is plugged into the Flex 15 i. The cable is good and has been checked by way of another computer.
I have previously used the hard-wired ethernet once and it worked but I do not remember where the laptop stood during the upgrade path.
This may be a hardware problem which will require mailing the laptop for the repair, or it may be a software / dirver issue. The only other thing I can do is reistall from scratch to confirm it is a hardware problem.

I just bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 pro and installed windows 8.1 by itsef. During Windows 8.1 initial setup I was able to use keyboard to type in PC Name, but after that the keyboard and touch pad was not working/no any response any more. After Windows 8.1 lunched the keyboard also no any response. I have to use touch screen soft keyboard. But when laptop in BIOS mode (turn power off and press a small round button next to power button) the keyboard was working fine. So I think that the keyboard hardware is ok, but some thing iwas wrong with Windows 8.1 software issue. I also un-selected all on Easy of Access->Keyboard section in Windows 8.1.

I'm getting rid of my Yoga 13 and was wondering if there is a way to do a factory restore with having the ability to use the OKR since it doesn't work. It appears that I have my recovery oem partition intact.

Yoga 11s a great computer but why should the two-finger tap to right click be unavailable? It's a commonly found gesture on Windows and Macs these days and that it's missing be default on my machine drives me crazy. Having to press down firmly to click in the bottom corner or having to click while pressing down two fingers is annoying. I've read some solutions involving drivers and registry edits but not sure what I want to undertake.

I have a new issue on my fresh Yoga11s, camera is not working anymore whereas camera seems OK in device manager.
No led is ON when I start camera application. I tried a factor reset without any success. It's like camera is software disabled but not sure.

First, I have two brand new Yoga 2 Pro's with Windows 8.1 (had them for two weeks) and I recently purchased the Actiontec ScreenBeam Pro and started working with it last night.
Second, *both* of the Yoga 2 Pro's are behaving in exactly the same way, and I'll describe that in a moment. Both systems are also update with the latest drivers. I have taken the time to compare all installed versions with the latest available from either Lenovo or Intel. All of the latest Windows updates have been applied.
Third, the firewall was disabled during one interation just to demonstrate that it was not the problem.
Now, here are the installation steps and the resulting problem:
The ScreenBeam is properly connected to an HDTV and is displaying it's initial screen
Swiping into Charms and making my way down to PC and devices -> Devices -> Add a device, results in the Screen Beam being discovered as a television, a PIN being displayed on the TV screen, and that PIN is then entered at the prompt from the "add device" dialog. The ScreenBeam also displays the fact that it was able to succesfully pair with the wireless adapter and displays a screen on the TV stating that it is waiting for a connection. I then access the Project menu through Charms->Devices->Project, but there is *NOT* a selection for projecting to the TV. Eventually, the ScreenBeam times out waiting for the connection and tells you to relauch the wireless display app. At this point, the ScreenBeam is present in the Devices and Printers window as SBWD DF9945-SBWD100A., but it is not active because there is no connection. So, therein lies the problem; I cannot project to the TV screen.
I have performed multiple iterations by deleting the device from Devices and Printers and performing the process again in a very systematic manner to make sure I did not miss anything, and the result is the same. I have performed the steps on two different, brand new systems with the same result. Just for grins, I went out to the Intel site and downloaded their latest WiDi Software, and it simply *wiil not* install on Windows 8.1; the installation terminates stating that the plaform is not supported, including calling out that the operating system is not supported.
From reading the other thread, I see that this same configuration has worked for multiple people. I checked the firmware level on my ScreenBeam, and it is the latest version of 1.1.9.0, so there is nothing further to do there.

the two buttons to control brightness worked fine before I uninstalled the default graphics driver. Now, when I press it I still get the GUI slider, but the brightness does not change. My brightness can be changed fine in the windows power settings. I have reinstalled the same thing I uninstalled, reinstalled Energy Manager, and still it does not work.

Having a problem with two-finger tap to right click? Two-finger tap to right click was working fine for a while, but it suddenly stopped on my Yoga 13.
I reinstalled the touchpad drivers, and it worked for a few days, then it stopped again. Two-finger click still works fine. So does one-finger tap to left click.

I can't get my Yoga to recognise any BT devices. I have driver version 1.3.639.3 dated 1/9/2012. I downloaded an update otwb33ww.exe version 3.757.754.082313 but when I install it, I get eventually get a dialog saying "Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled on your system. Plug in your device and click 'OK'. I switch on my BT headphones, click OK and get a message saying "Reeltek Bluetooth is not installed on your system". Then have to restart and end up back with the old drivers.
Just noticed I can connect to my iPhone but still not my Plantronics headphones...

First year, my Yoga's touchscreen was always working correctly, regardless of connected USB devices.
Since some time, if I connect a device into USB 2.0 port, touchscreen gets immediately disabled, no more responding to any touch. In Device Manager, it is not showing any errors. I found a workaround that in Device Manager (HID Devices branch), touchscreen must be set Disabled, then Enabled and then it comes back online. But I know this action was never needed before.
I think it began happening around the time when I started to use Yoga with barcode scanner Heron D-130. But the problem is now happening regadless of USB device, even with devices which were not impacting the touchscreen before. Perhaps not barcode scanner, but some Windows update caused this. Do you have any solution for this so touchscreen will keep working after another USB 2.0 device is connected?

I use a USB MIDI keyboard (Akai LPK25) with my Ideapad. I've not previously had an issue with this configuration, but since about a week ago, as soon as I plug in the device the touch screen becomes disabled. Removing the device doesn't restore touch screen functionality; I actually have to reboot.
Was there a recent USB upgrade that's causing this issue?

I recently updated my Yoga 13 to Windows 8.1 and am now experiencing significant lag when resuming from suspend and periodically while I work. Often I will type and not see the text on the screen for another 5+ seconds.
I have run Malwarebytes and Windows Defender and found no malware. By keeping an eye on the task manager I have not been able to identify a misbehaving process.

I love everything about my yoga2 pro, except, when I got it I installed a win 8.1 upgrade because windows told me to. everything seemed to be fine.
After that, the system asked me to install another upgrade. when trying to install that one it said it could not install and was undoing the changes. I read some forums awhile back and it talked about a particular update that needed to be uninstalled before you could proceed. I tried to do that, but it wouldn't let me uninstall the initial 8.1 that i installed.
I let it go because it was asking me like every month or so to automatically shut me down and install updates. But now it forces me to install updates every two days and then can't update so, it undoes it changes and it takes like 30-45 minutes or so. Plus, i do need to get it to be able to accept the updates at some point.
I'm thinking I have to wipe everything and start from scratch??

I got my new Yoga 2 Pro last week and the screen rotation worked properly. I decided to wipe the partitions and install my own version of Windows 8.1.
Since then the screen rotation doesn't work. The screen rotation button doesn't do anything and I don't have the 'Enable auto-rotate' checkbox in the resolution screen
In my device manager I have an error on 'HID Sensor collection' saying "This device cannot start" (Code 10). Failed to initialize sensor from HID collection descriptor". I am not sure if this is related.

My Lenovo Ideapad Flex laptop does not switch on when I press the power button. It was working till this morning, when I switched it off (via an operating system shut down in Windows 8.1). When I tried to turn it on an hour later, I found that pushing the power button has no effect at all.
I tried pushing the novo button. In this case the laptop does turn on and shows the "lenovo" welcome screen for a few seconds. However, it promptly switches off again. The symptoms do not depend on the laptop being connceted to power: they are exactly the same in the two cases.

I have noticed that the system is a bit slow because the Window 8.1 is installed on the mechanical Hard Drive instead of the Flash SSD drive.
How can I move the Windows 8.1 installation to the SSD drive. I have a 25GB empty drive.

So I love my Lenovo yoga until I upgraded to windows 8.1 then all of a sudden every time I signed into my computer via Microsoft account my keyboard and audio would be completely disabled I called Lenovo support they connected to my computer went through all of my settings and uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, nothing his last guess was to tell me to restore my computer.
So I did and as my laptop ramped up it asked to sign into a Microsoft account so I did (keep in mind this computer is fully functional after the restore everything works perfect) as soon as I hit the enter key the keyboard and audio become disabled fully disabled my, physical keyboard. Since the computer worked great right after the restore I also know that it is not a hardware issue as I have already sent it out to get all the sensors replaced its a software problem that revolves around my Microsoft account who do I talk to about this Lenovo? Or Microsoft? Lenovo just keeps telling me that I need to restore my computer completely ignoring the exact issues I am describing ,and as far as Microsoft account, this is not something I control I only own the account Microsoft manages it so why is my Microsoft account disabling my keyboard, again I stress I have done every single driver check there is I have uninstalled all of them and reinstalled.
I have looked through my settings as well as had a technician remotely control my computer to confirm that the computer is in perfect working order no settings out of place and then I restored all my settings to default and then restored the computer and everything works great until I enter my Microsoft account email and password then my keyboard becomes disabled instantaneously. And yes I was able to sign in using the keyboard
