Sony :: New Z Has DVD-RAM And BD-ROM Listed As Drives But I Didn't Order BlueRay
Apr 16, 2010
There is only 1 device on my laptop and it is the Mata DVD-RAM drive but under device manager it shows that and OTSPIXK YR4DUBOHI SCSI CDROM DEVICE, and when i open my computer it shows DVD RAM and BD ROM
I just recently purchased a new sony vaio fw41e/h. And i've been using the blueray driver a lot for burning dvd's since it's capable of doing that. But since yesterday my drive just stopped burning dvd's and got no idea what might have caused it. I didn't find any errors or something when i burned my last dvd, which worked. I used the os it came with which is vista 32 bit. I don't think it's a hardware error because it can still read the dvd's but i just can't burn them. I also tried several different applications for burning, like clonecd, imgburn and nero but neither worked. For instance, when i use clonecd it just starts normally but after 30 seconds the bar raises up to 100% and just finishes and it said it couldn't burn it. for the people who wanna know what kind of drive it is, it is a mata bd-cmb uj130as.
I just bought a new sony laptop and when I first started it, I forgot to put in the battery and just plugged in the AC adapter. So near the end of the setup of the system language and everything, I got a blue screen saying something about a power state failure and the computer shutdown. I immediately put the battery in and turned back on the computer and after a while, it was fine. So should i be concerned if i permanently damaged the computer or anything?
I was very excited to order a dell vostro 1520 online, and i got a great deal on it. i ordered the laptop on the 14th of this month, and according to the email they sent me, it was supposed to be delivered by the 30th... which is pretty late but since i was getting a pretty good deal IMO, i thought "whatever, as long as its here before may 4th".
however, earlier today i got a call from dell telling me that they wont be able to build the laptop since they dont make them anymore.... ??? couldnt they have told me this EARLIER like say, LAST WEEK?
the dell vostro 1520 is STILL listed on their website (dell.com and click on small business) along with many other laptops. i dont know what to do at this point. obviously i will have to order another laptop, and it will come VERY late according to my schedules and time constraints... but which dell laptop can i order and which shouldnt i even bother with since they dont build it anymore and apparently are too lazy to update the website?
how many hard drives could fit in the Vaio Z, because on the SonyStyle site when configuring the HD's and choosing for example 256GB SSD it shows 2x128GB SSD. Does this mean 2x SSD hard drives? If so then I'm wondering why they don't make the option available to put in 2x256GB SSD's. Also, if 2 SSD's are possible, are 2 standard 2,5" spinning HD's possible?
I recently ordered a Vaio FW-490 CTO with an estimated ship date of 9/16, but the order has been processing since the day I ordered it. Also, today I recieved an email:
"We regret to inform you that all or part of your Sony Style order SW********* has been delayed.
In order to serve you better in the future, our warehouse system was shutdown tonight. Regrettably, we encountered problems with your order that prevented your order from being fulfilled in time for the shutdown. Unfortunately, we will be unable to ship your order until 9/18/2009."
Is it normal for it to be in processing this long, or should I call them to see the the "problems with my order" are?
you get a Z11 configured with one SSD drive, is it possible to later install a second drive on your own? Also, can you install a normal hard drive as a second drive? Like can you get a 128gig SSD drive as a boot drive and then install a 2.5" Hard Drive in the second slot?
Have a VGN-A195EP with C drive 30gb, abd D drive 30GB, as usual C is full of junk, and D is empty and useless. The lappy is ok, and I hate waste, I'm sure with a bit more breathing room on the C drive I'll get a little more life out of it.
way of merging C and D without doing a format and re-install?
I had a question on the SSD drives used in the FW590 CTO (configure-to-order).
I know that they have a 128GB option and also a 256GB option for their SSD drives and wanted to know the make/model/manufacturer of the drives.
As we know, there is a world of difference between the performance of the various SSD drives available, with the Intel models being the highest performing ones, while some of the other SSD drive models being pretty poor from a performance perspective.
I talked to Sony support who expressed complete ignorance on the make/model/manufacturer of the SSD drives employed in the FW models (VGNFW590 CTO is the model I am looking for) and thus was wondering if the folks on the forum know the details on it.
So i got the 1640 with blueray, and I was messing around with different applications like PowerDVD and media center, and I notice there isn't an up-conversion option.
I am going to do clean install on dv3t, which has a blueray player and Intel GMA graphics card in it. I dont like HP MediaSmart much, so dont want to use that for playing blueray movies. Before I started clean installing, I wanted to make sure from you guys that the notebook is capable of playing blueray movies without using MediaSmart software. I dont have a BD disk right now to test if ZoomPlayer or WMP can play these disks or not. But if not, is there any other software that could handle BD playback?
Where and how can one buy replacement optical drives for Sony laptops and notebooks? The sonystyle site does not list them in stock. Sony parts phone support might be an option, but I fear I might be offered a model that is not compatible.
I own a 2007 vintage Vaio VGN FZ190 notebook with a drive that should burn Blu-ray, DVD, or CD. I edit video and have burned maybe 50 DVDs and perhaps 25 Blu-ray discs.
Last week, the drive began to fail to recognize blank Blu-ray media. Then it lost the ability to play burned discs, even rented commercial discs, which I tested to make sure the problem did not owe to defective media........................
i went onto the chat to request myself a copy of the 64 bit edition of windows vista home premium since i just want to have it in my collection. I upgraded to vista ultimate 64 bit but having home prem wouldnt be bad.
Now according to this thread: New 64 bit Vista option for 1330--have to have driver support!
The option for 64 bit is on the website. So if my system originally came with 32 bit and they now have 64 bit listed, wouldn't i be eligible for support on the 64 bit version of home premium?
I mean if they are offering it, then whats the difference if it came first installed or not?
i have a problem with my precius Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720. I have actually 2 HDD of 1TB. I want to install a mSSD into the mSATA conection. The mSSD is one SAMSUNG EVO 840 of 250GB.
My problem is... all my conections are SATA2?????? I read in this forum than Dell Inspiron 7720 are 2 SATA3 conections, because the HM77 supports only 2 ports of SATA3... but when i passed "CrystalDiskInfo", i see in all drives SATA 300Â (2 hhd and 1 msata).
I have recently upgraded HP Probook 4431s to Win8.1 Prof. 64-bit.  I couldn't find driver for HP Protect Tool and Face Recongnition under drivers list.  Where can i find them if drivers already available.
