I have a Vaio VGN-CS215J. I would like to know who manufactured the touchpad I have, but I keep getting mixed messages.
The drivers, device manager, and sony's support site all list the synaptics drivers, but when I did lsusb in Ubuntu, I got this in the list:

The touchpad of my Lenovo G50 (i3-4010U) is not working properly (windows 8.1). Sometimes when I use the touchpad, the arrow don’t move. Until it close and open the display, it’s don’t move. In addition, this method does not always work. I have gone to options and I've turned off touchpad options "two fingers" mode, but nothing change. I have still in function an old notebook pc (from 2007, not Lenovo!), and has never had this kind of problem. I need my computer for travel work but this problem becomes very difficult my job.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe touchpad on/off function does not persist through system lock/unlock. For instance, with the touchpad disabled, locking my computer will re-enable the touchpad (as will signing back in to my computer account if I take the trouble to disable the touchpad before entering my password).
I permenantly use an external mouse, want to leave my touchpad disabled as it interferes with typing. Thus, I see this as a bug. Is there any way to change this behavior short of a bug report? Perhaps some buried setting?
Running Win 8.1, user is account password protected, but not linked to a Windows live account.
Edit: Laptop has a Synaptics touchpad.
Solution: Solved by going into Control Panel -> Mouse Settings -> Change Mouse settings -> Device Settings -> Settings (Device needs to be enabled for this to be accessible) -> Advance Tab -> Touchpad Status
Under touchpad status, setting was changed to 'keep previous enable/disable status'.
If she slides her finger on the touchpad suddenly jumps over with 2 - 3 cm or across the screen, or if she wanna click on something jumps over or just simply she cant move on a button because it's "shakes" around ... Sometimes I feel like "somebody" controls her laptop with an another mouse.
To find out that's the windows 8 's problem or the touchpad's problem we bought a microsoft wireless mouse and it worked without any problem...
I uninstalled the touchpad driver , tried to disable and enable but nothing worked for me....
The touchpad shows only as a mouse, and scrolling & the fn+f6 option do not worked, I had it on win 8&7, worked on neither of them. I couldn't find a dedicated driver for it, and I couldn't find a post that states whether this touch pad should have those options working or it was never intended to.

I did nothing special so far with the notebook, its not working on the pre-installled vista and ubuntu. so it can´t be a driver failure. I plugged a usb mouse and its working well, but that could be not a solution because I very need the touchpad working!

Touchpad is enabled in mouse settings, and device manager says drivers are up to date and that the device is working.
However, the touchpad is completely unresponsive, and restarting the computer didn't do anything. Is there anything else that could be done? Or should I believe that this is hardware failure?
Is there the ability to disable the touchpad on the W530? I don't see it as an option in the function keys. I am using a mouse and it's a bit annoying brushing my hand against it and having it mess something up.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought my Y500 a few days ago and happy with it in general. However, one day the two-finger-tap (for right click) on the touchpad stopped working. Below is a description.
Everything else as far as I can tell, including two-finger scroll and one-finger tap and so forth, are working fine, but the two-finger tap stopped working even though it worked fine for a few days. I have a suspicious as to what caused it but I'm not entirely sure. In any case I think it's most likely a bug, and probably software.
One day I went into "control panel" -> "mouse" -> "device settings" -> "settings..." -> "Scrolling" -> "two-finger scrolling" -> "enable coasting". I played with coasting for a while, and soon disabled it again because I didn't really like it. However, it was then that I noticed that my two-finger tap stopped working. I have doubled-checked that "control panel" -> "mouse" -> "device settings" -> "settings..." -> "clicking" -> "two-finger click" is set to "secondary click (context menu, special drag)", but the two-finger click still doesn't work, even after a restarted. I downloaded the latest driver (version 16.2.18.0) and it still didn't work. I uninstalled the driver and installed it again and it still doesn't work. Now I like using the touchpad, but really hate living without two-finger tap for right-clicking.
I mostly use a mouse and I am getting annoying mouse pointer jumps when I inadvertantly touch the touchpad while typing. It seems like just pressure on the area outside of the touchpad is enough to make the pointer jump. I would like the touchpad to be disabled when a mouse is present on the system and be enabed when no mouse is present. I would not want to be caught having to find my way to the Control Panel using keystrokes.It does not seem like this is possible so I am hoping that Lenovo is monitoring these posts.

Then formated and installed Win7 Pro 64bit. i managed to get everything else in working order except i would like to occasionally turn off the touchpad. i use a mouse for games and such and the hot key doesnt work to turn it off. BTW every other hot key does what its intended to do.

I have a Vostro 1320 and my touchpad has decided to stop working in Windows 7 (particularly RC x64).
The touchpad works fine in safe mode but does not work nine times out of ten when booting regularly in Windows..
In Device Manager, the touchpad has an exclamation point and the error "This device cannot start. Code 10"...
I tried re-installing the driver provided by Dell and also the reference driver directly from the Synaptics website and neither fixed the issue..............
I have found out that the touch pad surface extends further than it should. I have a habit on leaning on my elbow,
when I have my laptop on my legs I put my elbow on the palm rests. I found out quickly though that if I lean on it I end up doing a multi touch zoom,
to start off with I thought my system was just being rubbish but then I tested it again and it worked fine after I took my elbow off.
This must mean that the touch surface extends further than the edge of the "touchpad",
I just wonder how far it actually goes and whether we could make use of it .
I recently purchased a Lenovo Y510p, and the touchpad uses the ELAN software. However, by default, it doesn't seem to allow you to use two fingers to tap for right click, nor three for middle click.
After digging into the matter, I discovered you can make some changes by installing Asus Elantech driver 11.5.0.9 to allow you to see many more options in the control panel, and I successfully changed Swapping and 3 and 4 finger touch functions.I am struggling to change the double finger tap.
I was wondering if there is a permanent way to disable the touchpad on this y510p. I hate hitting fn f6 every boot, wake from sleep, etc.
I checked the registry in hklm microsoft windows currentversion run but didn't see any prefixes of syn* in any of the entries. I checked into RTFTrack.exe and that seems to be the camera. Is there a way I can disable this touchpad permanently?
The "Disable touchpad when external mouse is connected" button is not on my Settings menu for the touchpad.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my Y580 about a month ago and it has been great. The only problems I've been having with it is with the touchpad. About a week ago the synaptics software on here started to shutdown at random and things like two finger scrolling and swiping from the sides would all stop working. I searched around and downloaded updated software both from synaptic's website and from lenovo driver support. The newest ones from lenovo are the only ones that don't quit at random but now the only thing that doesn't like to work still is the two finger tap to right click. Sometimes it'll work for the first ten min when I first turn the laptop on but then it'll quit. Two finger click sometimes works for right click but not always and two finger tap for right click never works any more.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a recently gotten my Lenovo g510, with a synaptics touchpad. My problem is that when I write, I can't move my pointer at the same time. It's like when I type my touchpad gets disabled, and when I stop the typing it enables again. I've seen some places that it's just to turn of/on palmcheck? But I can't find it in my settings. It looks like my menu is more up to date than the others, and therefore they have more detailed menus, but mine is pretty simple.
I will add a picture of my menu, when I go to my mouse settings, and then the settings for the synaptics.

It works fine again when the computer has been restarted, but as soon as a Microsoft program has been opened the problem is there again.
I have tried to solve it as described under the topic: "IdeaPad U310, U410, U510 - Touchpad stops responding while using Microsoft Office", but the problem is the same.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my lenovo Z510 for about 3 weeks now, and I am running into a problem where I cannot use my keyboard keys and use my touchpad at the same time, which makes it difficult to play games. I have gone into the settings and went to mouse and touchpad and selected always on, but that didnt seem to do much, maybe i need to increase the active area of my touchpad, but I dont think windows 8.1 comes with any such tools and I dont think Lenovo pre installed anything...

Everything is fine with it until i downloaded Steam and downloaded some games. 3 of the games i downloaded are shooters and therefore require the left mouse button. But when i click it to shoot, it doesn't respond sometimes and is very laggy. This is not the fault of the game as i tried it in different ones but the problem is still there. i tried to switch round the buttons (so that the right button is to shoot and the left to aim) and it works fine...

Also the buttons and trackpad work completely fine with everything else except games including Minecraft. it seems that when i am moving with WASD the button doesn't work but the right click button does.
I have a Y510p. After upgrading the touchpad driver ( Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for 64-bit Windows Version 17.0.10.12/11.4.26.1) and ,possibly coincidentally Windows 8.1 I noticed a process called "System" in the task manager is eating up 6 to 12 % CPU usage. Opening its file location seems to reveal that its "ntoskrnl" application.
After a system factory reset and many curse words I noticed a peculiar thing. The processor shows high usage only when the mouse is being used. The more the mouse is used the higher the CPU usage (caps at about 12%). I am assuming this is a bug.
I have removed the driver and tested this and the process no longer used the CPU by that amount. But I lose all my features. Is there any way I can resolve this issue without having to either wait for a newer version of the driver (whih may take a very long time?). Also is there any place where I can access the older variant of the driver?
