I'm looking to get a 2nd AC charger adapter for my aspire one and am trying to find one with the angled jack tip, instead of straight. I believe this puts less pressure on the jack this way.

I purchased a Targus APA10US universal power adapter. Its specs are as follows.
Input: AC100-230V
Output: 15-24V -2A
Power: 65W Max
My Aspire calls for a #14 tip, but that one did not come with the adapter. Can I use another Targus adapter (#3) with a different tip without doing damage to the PC? I have been told that the tip does some type of voltage regulation and adjusts to the settings of the PC.
I am working on a 5100 Aspire. The display is garbled and I can't do anything with it. It has Media Center edition XP. I need a recovery disk to recover the driver for the display driver.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently picked up a nice 1410, the 12" version. Looking around on Acer's site it appears they used this name in the past for a 14" laptop as well? Is the new 1410 the laptop people are discussing in the other threads with the Timeline?
The primary reason I ask is because I'd like to buy another AC adapter off Ebay, and it seems many that come up for the 1410 may be for the old laptop. Is there some other model or part number I should be searching for?
I bought this acer laptop about 5 months ago, it was working fine up until a couple days ago that I started to notice that it would shut down after 3-5 minutes of usage, sometimes shorter, and while plugged in, it would shut down before I could even type in my password.
I'm certain that overheating is not the problem, the tempature inside my laptop hovers around 50 and it never feels hot to the touch when it shuts down.
I have an Acer Aspire 4720z notebook and decided to hook it up to my tv. So I got my 7-pin to composite adapter which came with my video card for my desktop and plugged it in to give it a shot to see if it would work and no go, it just won't detect being connected to the tv. I read the manual and searched online to see if this perticular notebook allowed for s-video to composite or if Acer made one for it themselves, again no go. So I was wondering if anyone has this notebook, or the 4710 or 4720 which I think are identical hardware wise, are able to connect one to it and actually get it working?
it uses a mobile intel 965 express graphics chipset.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 4720Z. Since long I had been using XP. Recently it was formatted and Windows 7 was installed. But after this upgradation, the WLAN is not working. Have banged my head with drivers and all.
Device manager is showing Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi miniport adapter (although with XP it simply showed by the name of WLAN adapter as far as I remember). And checking it's properties it says that the device is working properly. When Intel Wi-Fi Technology is tried to get started, it says that 'A supported intel wireless network adapter not found'.
My internet frequently disconnects from my Aspire S3-951 notebook with Athros AR5BWB225 wireless adapter. The adapter is loaded with driver version 10.0.0.227. Is there a newer driver that will prevent the frequent disconnects?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have also tried disconnecting from network and turning off wifi from the signal strength icon as well prior to shutdown. When the adapter stays open when I return to the laptop and connect again it shows that i have been connected via the adapter for days at a time. This eventually leads to the connection being clogged up and causing timeouts preventing me from connecting to the net. I stopped ittwice but dont know what I did.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThere is a recurring problem where the computer ceases to recognize the existence of the wireless adapter. It doesn't matter if the computer is running 8, or 8.1, nor if the computer is fully Updated. This seems to be a hardware problem or some sort of electrical short, not a driver problem. I have done a bit of research over the last four months or so (when the problem first started happening), and the problem I am experiencing is most likely caused by either a faulty card, or a card that is loose from its socket on the motherboard, and not by a driver/hardware discrepancy.The strange part is the intermittent nature of the computer's recognition of the device. Stranger still is that despite what appears to be a hardware problem, I have usually been able to fix it, either by:
Uninstalling then reinstalling the device's drivers,Restoring the computer to a previous point,Reformatting the computer using the built in Windows 8 feature, and/or Removing certain Windows Updates in reverse chronological order (until the integrated WiFi device is recognized).
Last night, the problem happened again. It was maybe the 4th or 5th time overall, and the 2nd time I was forced to "hard reformat" in an attempt to fix the problem. Until just a few minutes ago, when I partially deconstructed then reconstructed the device, the "hard reformat" method didn't fix the WiFi. After the "hard reformat" didn't work, Upon turning the computer back on, it recognized the wireless adapter, I connected to the network successfully, and here I am now, documenting what happened.
I essentially did nothing significant to the device, and now the wireless adapter is recognized. Why?
All that being said, I believe I have narrowed down the cause of the problem, at least in my case. I believe there is some sort of electrical short issue. The short is caused by one (or perhaps both) of the following:
Assuming the physical location of the wireless adapter is next to the location of the port for the AC adapter, I think the AC adapter, when moved or jiggled by a hand, somehow negatively interferes with the wireless adapter, causing it to fail.Shutting the lid of the computer, perhaps when combined with the above, and/or under other conditions (something having to do with power settings?, something having to do with the state of the network when the lid is shut?), causes the network adapter to fail.Something very similar used to happen on an old Dell notebook I had, as well as on a CR-48, towards the end of their lives. That is, in order for the internet to work, I had to have the AC adapter at certain angle when it was plugged into the computer. Otherwise the wireless connection would drop. It seems like there's a connection there (pun intended), but perhaps not?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and my friend has a Latitude D820.
Tonight she accidentally plugged my power adapter into her laptop. A few hours later, she noticed that her laptop indicated that it wasn't plugged in, and that's when we realized that she had accidentally used my adapter instead of hers.
Now my adapter doesn't work at all. We've tried the adapter with both our laptops with different outlets with the same problem, so we know it's the adapter. The green light also doesn't come on when it's plugged in anymore.
Did plugging my adapter into her laptop somehow screw up my adapter, or could this just be a coincidence? Is there any way to fix the adapter or at least figure out what the problem is? And if I have to purchase a new adapter, do the universal ones they sell at retail electronics stores work OK? I would order one from Dell but I'm working on a project now and I don't have time to wait for it to ship.

I want to purchase another adapter but everywhere I search lists the adapter for the 1410 as 19 volt 3.42 amp and 65 watt. This include Amazon. Can I use this AC adapter with this computer.

(Acer Aspire 5610 series) I made sure that I wrapped it correctly (not wrapping around the battery)...are there any alternatives that I may use instead of purchasing brand new from acer itself? I previously purchased one from ebay that was pure garbage. The charge lasted for all of about 10 minutes and the mousepad was dysfunctional with the charger plugged in.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy concern with this is the fact that with the battery removed, there's going to be a big space underneath the laptop where the battery used to be that's just asking for a bunch of dust and dirt to come in. Is that an issue? Or am I mistaken in believing that removing the battery sounds like a bad idea?
Also, is it necessary to remove the battery if I intend on using the AC adapter most of the time, since the only time I'd be away from a wall jack would be when I travel. When I'm at home, I can easily just plug it into the wall rather than use up the battery.
I finally got my Acer 8935G, and right away, wiped the hard drive clean of all the crap that comes on notebooks. In this process, I removed the "recover" partition... didn't think much of it at the time until I realized they didn't include a single CD with drivers or OS. Oh well, thats not the issue.
I loaded the computer up with the RC version of Windows 7 - and everything seems to be working great, except, the LCD is using the built in Express Intel 45 Display Chipset, and no the ATI Radeon 4670.
I have both devises listed in my Hardware Manage, and under display properties, but I am unable to set the screen to use the proper display adapter...
My other issue is - acer doesn't even have this model listed on their website as it is so new - they don't have any place to download drivers and neither does anywhere on the internet.
I currently have two Acer laptops, an Aspire 5630 laptop and an Aspire One Netbook. The power adapter for the 5630 is a bit bigger (i.e., the "black box in the middle of the power cord) than the one for the netbook. The adapter for the netbook won't charge the 5630, however, when I plug in the adapter for the 5630 into the netbook, it says "charging" and seems to be charging the netbook fine. My question is whether this could do any damage to netbook or the netbook battery.

i bought a acer laptop @ bestbuy and it came with preinstall vista home. i used the computer fine and all and the internet connects to my router find and was surfing the internet. i then decided to install a fresh copy of my own vista ultimate because i dont like the preinstall stuff that they did because it just clutters up space. after i finish my install of vista ultimate, my laptop doesn't connect to the internet. i know this is simply but i dont see network adapters under the device manager in the computer management screen. i am worried because if i have to install the driver, then i would see some icons with a yellow exclamation mark, but i dont see NETWORK ADAPTERS AT ALL. i dont know how to solve this? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks all. i've tried to press scan for new hardware changes but still i dont see the network adpaters. i thought if you install vista ultimate, then it will install the wireless drivers for you too.

I would like to change it's preinstalled Linux with a Windows 7 version. But I don't know which exact versions of Windows 7 this particular model is compatible with, because I failed to install the AMD graphics adapter driver from the support DVD disk on a Windows 7 64bit. Do I miss something ? Need I, for example, make any changes in the BIOS ?
I have found same drivers to download, but none of them was successfull for my laptop.

The Aspire as5538 comes with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core Processor L310 1.2GHz, 1 MB L2 cache. While the Aspire Timeline comes with an Intel Pentium Processor DU4199 1.3GHz, 2MB L2 cache. I mean, are intel making pentiums with dual core? Can it beat the Athlon 64 x2 1.2 dual core? Even if it costs more with the Aspire Timeline?
