Acer :: Extensa EX4620-4605 Upgradable
Jan 30, 2008I was wanting to know if anyone knew of the upgrade capabilites for the Acer Extensa EX4620-4605. Specifically in the processor range.
Does it support any processor that is socket 775 with a 533 mhz FSB? Does it support any quad cores possibly? I'm just looking for different options. Seems like a very nice cheaper laptop with 2 gigs of ram and a 160gb hard drive, but I think it's lacking a little in processing power.
(then again, if you look at the regular standard of equivilence, a 1.46ghz dual core is about a 3ghz single core... though, I don't think it would quite perform as well as that.)
Dell :: Plugged Power Adapter Into Wrong Laptop, Now Adapter Doesn't Work?
Nov 9, 2009I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and my friend has a Latitude D820.
Tonight she accidentally plugged my power adapter into her laptop. A few hours later, she noticed that her laptop indicated that it wasn't plugged in, and that's when we realized that she had accidentally used my adapter instead of hers.
Now my adapter doesn't work at all. We've tried the adapter with both our laptops with different outlets with the same problem, so we know it's the adapter. The green light also doesn't come on when it's plugged in anymore.
Did plugging my adapter into her laptop somehow screw up my adapter, or could this just be a coincidence? Is there any way to fix the adapter or at least figure out what the problem is? And if I have to purchase a new adapter, do the universal ones they sell at retail electronics stores work OK? I would order one from Dell but I'm working on a project now and I don't have time to wait for it to ship.

Nov 28, 2009I have the Aspire 1410 -2285 with Windows 7 and the Celeron SU2300 Processor. The AC power supply clearly shows the specifications as 19 volt, 1.58, amp, 30 watt. I want to purchase another adapter but everywhere I search lists the adapter for the 1410 as 19 volt 3.42 amp and 65 watt. This include Amazon. Can I use this AC adapter with this computer.

Oct 30, 2008I'm not quite sure why this no longer charges. (Acer Aspire 5610 series) I made sure that I wrapped it correctly (not wrapping around the battery)...are there any alternatives that I may use instead of purchasing brand new from acer itself? I previously purchased one from ebay that was pure garbage. The charge lasted for all of about 10 minutes and the mousepad was dysfunctional with the charger plugged in.

Aug 28, 2009My concern with this is the fact that with the battery removed, there's going to be a big space underneath the laptop where the battery used to be that's just asking for a bunch of dust and dirt to come in. Is that an issue? Or am I mistaken in believing that removing the battery sounds like a bad idea?
Also, is it necessary to remove the battery if I intend on using the AC adapter most of the time, since the only time I'd be away from a wall jack would be when I travel. When I'm at home, I can easily just plug it into the wall rather than use up the battery.

I purchased a Targus APA10US universal power adapter. Its specs are as follows.
Input: AC100-230V
Output: 15-24V -2A
Power: 65W Max
My Aspire calls for a #14 tip, but that one did not come with the adapter. Can I use another Targus adapter (#3) with a different tip without doing damage to the PC? I have been told that the tip does some type of voltage regulation and adjusts to the settings of the PC.
Acer :: 8935g Using Wrong Display Adapter
Jun 6, 2009I finally got my Acer 8935G, and right away, wiped the hard drive clean of all the crap that comes on notebooks. In this process, I removed the "recover" partition... didn't think much of it at the time until I realized they didn't include a single CD with drivers or OS. Oh well, thats not the issue.
I loaded the computer up with the RC version of Windows 7 - and everything seems to be working great, except, the LCD is using the built in Express Intel 45 Display Chipset, and no the ATI Radeon 4670.
I have both devises listed in my Hardware Manage, and under display properties, but I am unable to set the screen to use the proper display adapter...
My other issue is - acer doesn't even have this model listed on their website as it is so new - they don't have any place to download drivers and neither does anywhere on the internet.
Acer :: 5630 Power Adapter For Netbook?
Dec 28, 2008I currently have two Acer laptops, an Aspire 5630 laptop and an Aspire One Netbook. The power adapter for the 5630 is a bit bigger (i.e., the "black box in the middle of the power cord) than the one for the netbook. The adapter for the netbook won't charge the 5630, however, when I plug in the adapter for the 5630 into the netbook, it says "charging" and seems to be charging the netbook fine. My question is whether this could do any damage to netbook or the netbook battery.

Dec 19, 2009I recently picked up a nice 1410, the 12" version. Looking around on Acer's site it appears they used this name in the past for a 14" laptop as well? Is the new 1410 the laptop people are discussing in the other threads with the Timeline?
The primary reason I ask is because I'd like to buy another AC adapter off Ebay, and it seems many that come up for the 1410 may be for the old laptop. Is there some other model or part number I should be searching for?
Acer :: No Network Adapter Found Under Device Manager
Nov 28, 2008i bought a acer laptop @ bestbuy and it came with preinstall vista home. i used the computer fine and all and the internet connects to my router find and was surfing the internet. i then decided to install a fresh copy of my own vista ultimate because i dont like the preinstall stuff that they did because it just clutters up space. after i finish my install of vista ultimate, my laptop doesn't connect to the internet. i know this is simply but i dont see network adapters under the device manager in the computer management screen. i am worried because if i have to install the driver, then i would see some icons with a yellow exclamation mark, but i dont see NETWORK ADAPTERS AT ALL. i dont know how to solve this? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks all. i've tried to press scan for new hardware changes but still i dont see the network adpaters. i thought if you install vista ultimate, then it will install the wireless drivers for you too.

Jan 6, 2015I bought this acer laptop about 5 months ago, it was working fine up until a couple days ago that I started to notice that it would shut down after 3-5 minutes of usage, sometimes shorter, and while plugged in, it would shut down before I could even type in my password.
I'm certain that overheating is not the problem, the tempature inside my laptop hovers around 50 and it never feels hot to the touch when it shuts down.

Aug 31, 2008I have an Acer Aspire 4720z notebook and decided to hook it up to my tv. So I got my 7-pin to composite adapter which came with my video card for my desktop and plugged it in to give it a shot to see if it would work and no go, it just won't detect being connected to the tv. I read the manual and searched online to see if this perticular notebook allowed for s-video to composite or if Acer made one for it themselves, again no go. So I was wondering if anyone has this notebook, or the 4710 or 4720 which I think are identical hardware wise, are able to connect one to it and actually get it working?
it uses a mobile intel 965 express graphics chipset.

I would like to change it's preinstalled Linux with a Windows 7 version. But I don't know which exact versions of Windows 7 this particular model is compatible with, because I failed to install the AMD graphics adapter driver from the support DVD disk on a Windows 7 64bit. Do I miss something ? Need I, for example, make any changes in the BIOS ?
I have found same drivers to download, but none of them was successfull for my laptop.
